Found in this month's
guitar woulrd, with Rivers from Weezer on the cover,
there is an article with John Paul Jones (bassist/keys
for Led Zepplin).ÊThey interviewed him for their monthly
feature "60 Minutes: the hour of music that rocks
my world," and the interview are a few regerences
to Nine Inch Nails.
One, when describing
his John Paul Jones' new album, the writer paints
it as such:
"Imagine Fripp [Robert
Fripp of King Crimson fame]Êand Nine Inch Nail's Trent
Reznor doing a very dark, humorous, avant-garde collaboration
with Led Zep, and you've got a good idea of the records
sound." Ê
Then, during the actual
list of songs, Radiohead's "Morning Bell/Amnesiac"
is one, and in the caption he says this, among other
things: "But theres definitely a sense of humanity
in their music, as opposed to a band like Nine Inch
Nails, who I really like." Ê
Then, predictably, the
next listing is the NIN song "Closer," during which
he raves about Reznor:
"Trent Reznor's creativity
and angst makes for some very interesting records.Ê
I usually get everything he does.Ê Again, hes dark,
desolate, and makes wildly interesting records.Ê I
like good, well-crafted records, as well as good music.Ê
Its very important to me. That means listening to
the arrangement, the song itself, the production -
everything that makes a record a complete 'sound object.'Ê
When I get a new Trent Reznor record I put it on a
really good sound system, sit down and just listen
to the whole thing and let myself experience it.Ê
Its like going on an adventure where you don't know
what to expect but you know its going to be interesting."
Thanks a lot
to: 'Jesse'.
