Fox News: Special Report with Brit Hume, Friday, Dec. 10, 1999. Special Report Roundtable - Tony Snow

SNOW: And it's panel time for Fred Barnes, executive editor of "The Weekly Standard," Mort Kondracke, executive editor of "Roll Call," and Jeff Birnbaum, Washington bureau chief for "Fortune" magazine. All three are FOX NEWS contributors.

SNOW: Fred, Mort, Jeff -- thanks so much.

That's all the time we have for the panel, but stay tuned for a look at what John McCain says is his favorite band. You might be surprised.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

SNOW: This week we reported that Republican presidential candidate John McCain sometimes makes wacky remarks to the media, but those remarks never show up in the press. Take, for instance, McCain's supposed fondness for the Gothic rock band Nine Inch Nails. McCain saw the band perform when he attended MTV's Music Video Awards with his daughter, who's a producer for some such bands.

Since then, he's called Nine Inch Nails his favorite. Well, here's some remarks and some clips of the performance he saw. We'll let you decide if he's being serious or not.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MCCAIN: My personal favorite is Nine Inch Nails. I don't know how many of you like and admire him, but -- anyway, so I do...

Nine Inch Nails particularly impressed me.

OK, but my favorite is still Nine Inch Nails.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

SNOW: Well, it's nice to see him competing for the Buchanan vote.

And that's it for SPECIAL REPORT this time. Please come again next time, and in the meantime, stay tuned for news, fair and balanced, as always.
