Sunday,
December 31, 00 - 5:00 am EST Among the many talented artists who work under Trent Reznor in his New Orleans based Nothing Studios, many of you may or may not be to familiar with programmer Keith Hillebrandt. Keith Hillebrandt is a sound manipulator and music designer from San Francisco, now residing in New Orleans. For over nine years, Keith has worked within the music software business, including WaveFrame and Opcode, giving him access to the latest in sound manipulation tools. He's worked with/for various artists ranging from Stevie Wonder to Consolidated. He has manipulated sound in numerous musical outfits including Nine Inch Nails, Blast Conservatory, Cleopatra System and Full Court Press. Keith has also worked in Naut Humon's Sound Traffic Control. While he has only been apart of the Nothing Collective for the past three years, Keith includes very familiar versions and deconstruction credits of "10 Miles High", "the Fragile", "the Wretched," "No, You Don't," and "La Mer" to just name a few. Keith even produced version #4 on the limited edition re-mix single of David Bowie's hit song "I'm Afraid of Americans." Keith Hillebrandt came to Trent's attention through his connection with Charlie Clouser, and a sample library that he (Keith) produced. "When I finished the Diffusion of Useful Noise CD-ROM," Keith explains, "I sent Charlie a copy. He liked it a lot and then played it for Trent, who freaked and said, "We've got to hire this guy to design sounds for the new album (The Fragile)." Before Keith's pre joining days with Nine Inch Nails, he collaborated with Jon Drukman of Bass Kittens/Pretension Records and wrote an album under the name of "Full Court Press" a few years back. "It's just been sitting around but we finally decided to do something with it," Jon told Weathermen Records via email. "We want to offer it as a limited edition deal, no record label, just a few thousand copies for the fans." As the Weathermen Records are the premier store for online Nine Inch Nails merchandise, we have partnered with Full Court Press to deliver the exclusive release in the near future. "I should mention that we haven't made the CDs yet," he mentioned to SLS News. "Right now I'm in the process of gauging the interest level," which we hope to assemble in the next few days with the help of the 8,000 to 10,000 unique viewers! In the mean time, fans can check out an awesome free 6 megabyte mp3 download of "Metal Phase," a six and a half minute electronic funk track from their yet to be released album written by both Keith Hillebrandt and Jon Drukman using synthesizers and samplers. Stay tuned for more MP3s, the limited edition CDs, an exclusive interview and other merchandise on the way soon. | |||||
