Mechanical Animals Back On The Charts

Could it be his new video or the holiday season that gave Mechanical Animals a boost back onto the charts? After weeks of falling down the charts, the album has remained out of the top 100 for almost a month now. The charts posted just today, shows the album taking a 10-point jump upwards from #105 to #95, reentering the charts here at Billboard.com. Additionally, these sales cover the period from the Tuesday before Christmas, to the Tuesday this week. And that's pretty good, considering what albums people usually buy for Christmas.

Thanks a lot to: roger.

Jewel Wants A Duet With Marilyn Manson

For those who are still doubtful about yesterday's update on Jewel's thoughts of singing with Marilyn Manson, here's an exact quote from her taken from the January '99 issue of Voguemagazine:

"All you can do is be honest, and people will respond to it. That's why people love Marilyn Manson. He's real. I worship him. I think we're different sides of the same coin. I think he wants to do the same thing I want to do, which is to break down boundaries and teach people to be more open, to think.... I'd love to do a duet with him."
Thanks a lot to: Andi.

IDLTD(BTDLM) Video Stills

Quite a few weeks ago I obtained an official copy of Marilyn Manson's "I Don't Like The Drugs(But The Drugs Like Me)" music video. Music television stations such as Mtv and MuchMusic receive their music videos usually in a single white video case just as the one seen on right.

The video doesn't carry anything extra other than the video itself, a 10 second countdown and stats to the video... just as you see in the picture. Anyway, for the past 2 weeks now I've been capturing and editing 90 stills from the video for you all which I finally finished yesterday. They can be located here at our Marilyn Manson site.

Tomorrow or the following day I'll have 50+ stills of Marilyn Manson's LIVE performance of "The Dope Show" at Mtv's 1998 Music Video Awards. I know a lot of people have been writing in over the past few months for these... Luckily my VCR cooperated with me and recorded MTV's reairing of the Music Awards the other day, so I'll get those up as soon as possible.

Jewel Wants To Collaborate With Marilyn Manson!

What's this? Jewel wants to work with Marilyn Manson? You've got to be kidding me! Well, I wish I would have taped the programs featuring this...

Hey I was watching UPN 9 news tonight and they did a segment with Jewel. She said that she wants to do work with Manson even though they are on two different sides of the shoe and that he is the only honest musician out their!
Thanks to: BMoss81573.

Not only that but last nights Conan O'Brien had a quick segment on this which two viewers recently wrote in about...
This was a rather interesting comment/joke from Conan O'Brien that was on tonight. He started off with some real news saying that Jewel loves Marilyn Manson and wants to do a duet with him sometime. Not only is that a weird thing, but then he said his joke. Conan said that "Marilyn Manson said that he'd love to shave Jewel's skull and draw a pentagram on her head, I'd pay to see that!"

Tonight on Late Night with Conan O'Brian, Manson was metioned in the show monologue. Conan said: "You all know Jewel, the pop star Jewel," (applause) "well Jewel was quoted as saying that she wants to do a duet with Marilyn Manson. and uh, Marilyn Manson was quoted as saying that he wanted to shave Jewel's skull and tattoo a pentagram on it." (laughter).

Manson's Holiday Spirit

Mtv News features a new interview with Marilyn Manson that has been airing 10 to the hour every hour, which the transcript is online at mtv.com. The interview is about his holiday spirits...

You can download the full interview that I encoded this morning here [1.3 megs] in real video format.

Here are a few snippets from the interview.

"Are you a person who goes out on New Year's Eve," Loder asked, "do you like to go out and party or is that just another night for you?"

"I think we've always played," Manson said, "we didn't play last year, but I'm not really big on any holidays. It's really hard for me to get excited about any holidays to tell you the truth. I really felt something last night, it wasn't a holiday but I watched a film, 'The Parent Trap.'"

"I was flipping through Spectravision," Manson continued, "which has a description of each film, and it said 'Quaid is charming,' referring to Dennis Quaid. So I flipped it on, and he was. That's a nice holiday film. I would recommend it. I'm gonna buy it and I am gonna give it to my parents."

You can read the full interview here.

Thanks a lot to: TVstation.

Twiggy and Manson In Primus Home Video

You can catch Twiggy and Manson in Primus's new home video...

Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez appear in the new Primus home video, Videoplasty. There is a short segment on the Sno-Core tour that Primus headlined in early '98. Les Claypool, Primus singer, walks into the dressing room of Manson and Twiggy. After Manson realizes who it is he says "I didn't recognize you" and Les says "I recongized you". Then Twiggy asks about Les' goatee. It's only about 10-15 seconds long and a little hard to hear what they're saying. But it totally caught me by suprise.

1999 SPIN Calendar

Every year SPIN magazine releases a photo calendar full of eye-popping images of their favorites of today's best musicians and bands. SPIN's 1998 calendar featured Trent Reznor floating belly up in a tux and tie in a pool of water, very creapy I might add. Graciously enough, this coming year's calendar of 1999 features Trent again for the month of May, which originally came from the Trent Reznor cover of last years 12th Anniversary issue for their top 40 of The Most Vital Artists In Music Today, and, even with Marilyn Manson's mixed thoughts about SPIN magazine, they too are chosen for SPIN's top favorite bands...

But among other artists than Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson... The calendar also features artists such as: Tori Amos, Bjork, Blur, Chemical Brothers, Cornershop, Daft Punk, Dandy Warhols, Ani DiFranco, Elastica, Foo Fighters, Garbage, Geraldine Fibbers, No Doubt, Oasis, Orbital, Rancid, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Stereolab, Sugar Ray, Tricky, Veruca Salt and the Wu-Tang Clan. A very nice collector's item.

Adrian Belew Interview On Nine Inch Nails

First I would like to add for those who don't know, the following artists are those who [are] worked/working with Trent Reznor on Nine Inch Nails' next album:

- Danny Lohner of Nine Inch Nails- guitars, bass, keyboards.
- Charlie Clouser of Nine Inch Nails- drums, keyboards.
- Mike Garson of David Bowie- keyboards.
- Page Hamilton of Helmet- programming drums
- Adrian Belew of King Crimson- guitars.
- Bill Rieflen of Ministry- drums.
Now to the news. A monthly magazine called "My Launch" features an interview with Adrian Belew in their latest issue. Adrian has a bit to say about the new NIN album.
The long-awaited new album by Nine Inch Nails may still not have a firm release date ("sometime in 1999" is all that Interscope Records is saying at the moment) or even a definite title (the most recently aired contender is The Fragile, but that's said to be tentative). Yet one thing's pretty certain: at least a few of its songs will feature the talents of King Crimson guitar wizard Adrian Belew. Earlier this year, Belew spent a couple of weeks in the studio with head Nail Trent Reznor laying down a bunch of tracks; he previously guest-starred on two songs on NIN's last album, 1994's The Downward Spiral. In a recent conversation with myLAUNCH, Belew discussed the work he did with Reznor and what fans can hope to hear whenever the album finally appears.

"This time," Belew says, "I was in for a longer stay. On The Downward Spiral, I was in for just two days, and that was when they were almost finished with the record--there wasn't much room to play. When I went back this time, Trent wanted to get me in on it earlier, so that I was more a part of the music. He was working on about 40 tracks; some of them sounded like Nine Inch Nails and some of them sounded different. We spent long hours in the studio, and I played a number of instruments for him--string bass, cello, lap steel, mandolin, and a lot of electric guitar. I played so much guitar stuff. I'm anxious to see what made the cut, but you never know how much they'll use. Obviously, I can't say because I don't know, but I do know I did a lot of playing."

One of the reasons for this surplus of electric guitar parts was because Belew played each song a number of different ways, each one of which was recorded. "Sometimes there may have been a quick discussion beforehand where he'd say, 'I'm hoping for something like this,' but most of the time he'd just let me go. What I'd usually do is give him four or five options. So I'd play all the way through and when we'd had enough of that, I'd say, 'How about this?' That's why there's so much stuff. Later, he and his engineers were all laughing and saying, 'You just gave us a lot of work, to sort through all of this.' But it was immensely fun."

According to Belew, many of the parts he played were highly intense, a quality that Reznor would often take several steps further. "There were times when I thought I was getting pretty hot, and then he'd get down on the floor and add in another effect," he says with a gleeful laugh. "It was like a two-man guitar team there."

Part of the fun for Belew at these sessions came simply from watching Reznor work. "I think Trent makes amazing-sounding records. I was really fascinated with the way he makes records. I have my own studio and I make records a certain way, but he makes records a very different way, which was interesting to watch." For his part, Reznor seemed pleased with Belew's work: "I know that he's a big fan of the [late-'70s] David Bowie era of my playing, and I guess he must have liked what I did the first time [on The Downward Spiral] because he gave me a call again. I think it's going to be a terrific record, and I'm really happy that I was able to do it."

Coincidentally, Belew just received in the mail his own framed copy of the quadruple-platinum certification for The Downward Spiral, which he plans to hang up in a privileged corner of his studio. "I put all that stuff on the walls; I don't hide it away in my closet. It does mean something, to tell you the truth. It's an achievement, and I don't think there's anything wrong with feeling that way about it."

Look for a full Adrian Belew feature soon on myLAUNCH.

I have updated our Nine Inch Nails Guide (which is also located at the top of the news) with all the news to the new album for the whole year of 1998.
Thanks a lot to: baron.

Random Nothing Notes

The year end edition of Newsweek magazine featured topics of Manson twice, both times in a pretty negative light.

The first time was in their year-end conventional wisdom section, which had a small picture of marilyn and the comment "Rocker's fake boobs bomb, but good on chat shows. Next gov. of Minn?" (I though that was pretty good...) They also have a article about how everyone was obsessed with sex this year and there is one of those bad pictures of manson and rose at the music awards... they call him a "bust at reatil"... also that, "Marilyn Manson reinventex himself with prosthetic breasts. . . . Glorifying drugs or the devil are [sic] one thing, but fake breasts are fruity."
Thanks to: GenWarner.

Manson makes Letterman's Top Ten Countdown...
On last night's "Late Show w/ David Letterman", the top ten subject was "things beautiful women love about dave". marilyn manson presented number 4, which was "the sex was AMAZING!". Manson's segment was most likely taped from when he was last on letterman, since he was wearing the same outfit.

It airs Tuesday, December 29th at 11pm EST.

I will have video of this showing when it airs again.

On a game show called Ultimate Fan League. Which is a game show on sports and shit. The final question of the show was: "Who's the lead singer of Nine Inch Nails that sang the song 'Suck'?" and the second guy named Frank on the Pittsburgh team guessed the answer correctly which is obviously Trent Reznor.

In the newest issue of Computer Gaming World there is a small blurb in the last page editorial about Marilyn Manson. The editor is commenting on his age, and had this to say:
"And Marilyn Manson? What's up with that guy? (It's a guy, right?) I have no clue what his music sounds like, but whenever i see his picture i want to tell him to eat some meat, for Pete's sake, and to get some natural sunlight."

Las Vegas Review Journal: Manson

In the latest issue of Neon Magazine, the entertainment section of the Las Vegas Review Journal features an article about Marilyn Manson's upcoming performance at The Joint on New Year's Eve.

"You know Las Vegas has become all things to all people when two of the hottest New Year's Eve tickets are Neil Diamond and Marilyn Manson.

In the more stereotyped Vegas of 10 years ago, Frank Sinatra was still thye top Bew Year's ticket in town, and the $200 tab for his Bally's show set a new record for Dec. 31 festivities.

Now it's the androgynous Manson who is staging, as promoter Andrew Hewitt termed, "a Lear jet type of show." Celebrities will be partying at a Manson-hosted bash in the balcony of the Hard Rock Hotel showroom, while commoners who paid $101 for tickets writhe and mosh below.

The $200 benchmset in 1988 no longer makes people blink, though it's still at the high end of the scale. Diamond is getting $200 for the best seats at his New Year's Eve bash, and he's performing in the 14,000 capactiy MGM Grand Garden instead of Sinatra's 2,000-seat ballroom. However, his publicists claim the countdown from his stage in-the-round will mark the very first New Year's Eve concert in the crooner's 30 year-plus career.

Other shows which push the $200 ceiling at leat throw in a dinner. How else can you justify $195 for Hall & Oates at the Desert Inn? Or, Perhaps more astonishing, $150 for Jim Nabors - yes, he is of Gomer Pyle "Shazaam!" fame - at the Flamingo Hilton?

Manson's $101 ticket is closer to average for star headliners and may even have undersold the shck-rocker: The concert sold out in two hours, and attracted more high-roller interest than anticipated.

"I was pretty surprised", says Hard Rock general manager Gary Selesner. "We knew he was very hot in rock 'n' roll circles but didn't think he was the type of act with huge casino-player appeal."

Underestimating Manson's mainstream acceptance after his glam-rock make-over is understandable. During his more gruesomely attered days, the rock star's January 1997 date at the hotel came upon a wave of (exaggerated) publicity about sodomy and animal cruelty that had hotel officials ready to kill the power onstage to preserve their gaming license.

Though as tickets proved to be, Manson at least went public. Two of this year's biggest names will be singing to invited guests only: Operatic singer Andrea Bocelli at the Bellagio - the hotel's TV ads helped push his "Romanza" album to a million sales - and pop diva Whitney Houston at the Rio. The Rio also is closing its Masquerade Vellage bash to all but invited guests and room-key holder."
Thanks a lot to: KingMob8.

Marilyn Manson's Lips On The Tonight Show.

You know you're famous when people like Jay Leno use your lips in skits...

I was watching Jay Leno the other night when he did a skit where he asked people on the street to look at a pair of lips and then asked the person if they thought those were the kind of lips they would like to kiss. ( without showing the rest of the face, he would only show them the lips). Well as it turns out, one of the pairs of lps were Marilyn Manson's. Jay Leno showed them to a few guys who ( before knowing who's lips they were ) said that they liked them and would probably kiss them. One guy said that he'd go home with those lips if he'd had a few drinks.

KoRn References Manson SPIN Attack

It seems not only is Marilyn Manson having their share of problems with SPIN magazine, KoRn is too! There's a new article featured on the official Korn website here which discusses their recent problems with SPIN magazine... which by the way mentioning Manson in their interview.

A lot of people commented on the recent SPIN magazine interview where some of the guys suggested cutting out a part of the upcoming Freak on a Leash single. What sort of reasoning went behind that - is that really going to happen?

No. It was not written right.

So basically, it was taken out of context?

Yeah, it was. It made us look bad. Basically that magazine sucks. I hate 'em... it's fuckin' funny. We did that shit and like, wanna know how much assholes Spin are? You know how Manson just got busted for beating that guy up? When we were doing that Spin cover their art director almost got his ass beat by our guys too because he's such a fuckin' cock. He's not a nice guy.

They totally fucked us over on that cover - we're all in monkey suits? We didn't take that picture. They fuckin' put our faces on using a computer; they Photoshop'ed that shit and we had no control over it. They're fuckin' dickheads. We hate that fuckin' magazine. So anything in that shit was bullshit.

With this talk of the sell-out notion, what do you make of all the sudden MTV attention? You've said before about debating the point of filming a video that'll only get shown at 3am and now...

...and now they're playing the shit? It's fuckin' cool though, at least we're making some leeway. You know, fuck it, someone's gotta bring rock back. Now, I'm not saying we're trying to be the saviours of fuckin' heavy rock or whatever but you gotta do it to make it come back. And there's things like bands like Limp Bizkit doing really good, that Kid Rock kid's doing good now... all these bands are coming out starting to bring heavy music back.

So, anything we can do to get it back - fuck, we're happy! We've fought so fuckin' hard to get where we're at and so, yeah, to have them embrace us is pretty cool.
Thanks a lot to: jason.

In the February 1999 issue of VIBE (Dru Hill, Mya cover) Marilyn Manson (as the obvious token white rock act) made the top 19 Singles of 98 list coming in at #17.

"I call that stuff 'R&B': Rhythm and bulls---." -- Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA on mainstream rap

"You wanna take a shot at me! Go ahead! You're not so tough now." -- Marilyn Manson doesn't like fans with laser pointers

"I think music, on a completely artistic level, is entering probably its worst phase ... To be quite honest, I'm not really sure how many fans we have anymore." -- Billy Corgan, unimpressed

You've Got Nails

The January '99 issue of Yahoo! magazine features Trent Reznor on one of their Top of the Net '98 article briefs on page 86. The article is about Trent Reznor's AOL account hacked; the magazine features no new information about the case....

A woman named Amber Appelbaum allegedly called AOL, posing as the wife of Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor. After obtaining Reznor's password over the phone (which AOL later said was impossible), the 22-year old Georgia woman then logged on as Reznor. The singer, after learning of problems with his AOL account, hired a private investigator, proving that rock stars can do anything they want, even it it makes very little sense.

Those who are interested upon reading more concerning this problem of Trent's, please direct your browsers to our June 8th and June 14th update here.

Manson Featured 7 Times In EW Magazine

In the new issue of Entertainment Weekly they have a few small pieces on Manson spread throughout the issue. The first was under the top 10 albums of 1998, Mechanical Animals was #7.

Here is what the writeup said:

"No, this isn't a typo. The rap-meets-hardcore melee of Korn and its ilk made the headlines, but in the world of hard rock, Manson made the album that withstands repeated plays. Creepy but funny, bludgeoning but unexpectedly melodic, heavily produced but with a long-overdue infusion of dynamics and nuked-city milieu, Mechanical Animals is the sound of a one-yuk band coming into it's conceptual own. In a sorry year for rock, it's also a welcome reminder that alienated-adolescent lyrics, air-guitar-worthy hooks, and a dark-side-of-the-goon ambiance can still rock our world. I'm 18 again, and I like it."
The second appears in a article about recent increases in shock and gross- out value in movies, books, etc. It has the following passage:
"And Marilyn Manson's best-selling autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell, told tales of cow-brain filled pinatas and his keyboardist spraying Easy Cheese on his private parts."
The third mention comes in a rundown of occurances at awards ceremonies in 1998:
"At MTV's 15th Video Music Awards Sept. 10, Marilyn Manson and date Rose McGowan cheekily display their assets."
The fourth is "I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me)" winning the title of "Best Song Title" The fifth mention comes in a style column featuring a photo of Marilyn and the following information:
"GLAM DUNK: For a moment it seemed glam rock was back in sequined style: Marilyn Manson (above) shucked his devil-may-scare outfits in favor of space- age androgyny for the cover of Mechanical Animals, his fourth album.
The sixth and final mention of Manson was in a article about disapointing record sales in 1998, in which it mentioned Manson's record as slipping down the charts after a strong start. It featured a cartoon of Manson as the alien- ish figure from the cover of Mechanical Animals clinging to a plummeting red arrow on a chart.

The interview is part dutch in the beginning. It's a small part where the fans are interviewed just before the show in Tilburg. I also have the interview checked (don't have video only the sound) out again by someone, cause I think the article posted earlier on your site about the dutch interview by patty brard does not quite tell the truth about the fact that viewers could see MM penis. Or I really need to have a couple of new glasses.

What I do know and have seen is that MM shows his ass to the camera and Patty Brard, the interviewer, gently slaps his ass for a few times, liking the view and telling that, that's what she saw on-stage. And at the end when Patty touches MM's leg and MM says:"you're givin' me a hard-on", Patty reponses with:"good!". After that MM looks a bit astonished and they both start to laugh. MM thanks Patty for the interview and Patty thanks MM and it's byebye and the interview ends.

Spin Online Reviews EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN Album

Spin Online reviews EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN new album "Ende Neu."

Einsturzende Neubauten were once fired from a gig opening for U2 on an outdoor stadium tour after an unidentified member of the band allegedly threw a steel bar at a group of Dutch U2 fans who were pelting the band with vegetables. Evidently, angry German performance art doesn't go over well in football stadiums in mid-afternoon. Try telling that to Trent Reznor's accountant. Reznor and fellow multi-platinum industrial rock cohort Marilyn Manson owe much to the sonic exploration of Einsturzende Neubauten, having taken Neubauten's Sound of a Thousand Motors Whirring to the strip malls of suburbia and, in the process, inspired legions of namby-pamby, SAT-taking, make-believe vampires (not to mention Dave Navarro) to clear the Gap fresh out of black fishnets and bondage gear.

For eighteen years, Neubauten lead vocalist/architect, Blixa Bargeld, and his various co-conspirators have struggled to settle new sonic territory in the age of machines, strip-mining the realm of jackhammers, pile drivers, and even turbine jet engines in search of new sounds, new feelings, and new ways of making music. But unlike fellow countrymen Kraftwerk, who work almost exclusively with purely synthesized sounds removed entirely from any original instrumental signal, Einsturzende Neubauten have appropriated the implements themselves as instruments, carting all manner of industrial tools and mechanically-altered motors onstage for their live performances.

On Ende Neu, Bargeld and company conspicuously shy away from the late-nineties musical tic of layering tracks with reams of samples, loops, and fake plastic beats. The overall approach is more orchestral and minimalist--more Philip Glass than Alec Empire--and more organic and human in a way less contrived than, say, Neubauten Unplugged might be. The album opener, "Was Ist Ist," charges forward with the rawboned punk enthusiasm of aging German performance artists trying to project rawboned punk enthusiasm and the record's defining proclamation that "Just what is not is possible." "Ende Neu," the title track, is Neubauten Goth at its most pure: dark, empty, and propulsive.

Elsewhere, the band flex their infamous experimental muscle, surprisingly offering up occasional moments of transcendence and genuine intimacy. "NNNAAAMMM," nearly eleven minutes of electronically pitch-shifted orchestral engine sounds beneath cries of "New No New Age Advanced Ambient Motor Music Machine!" sounds like an Ewok work chant. But "Stella Maris," an enigmatic love song on which Bargeld duets with German actress Meret Becker (the album's unequivocal highlight), features an almost classically elegant string arrangement alongside Bargeld's trademark Neubauten guitar and the strange percussive sound of a meter-long chain striking a plate of sheet metal. Bargeld's speak-sing is never more in your ear than on the spacious "Garden." And "Die Explosion Im Festpielhaus" even features a full chorus.

Stark, stripped-down and introspective, Ende Neu plays like some kind of an industrial soul record, configuring technology as liberating and not imprisoning. By occasionally offering up these tired, breathless gasps of humanity amidst a symphony of machines, Einsturzende Neubauten strike a delicate balance between the exploration of ideas and the examination of emotions, proving once and for all that there's more to industrial music than just walkie-talkies in washing machines.

Manson On Veronica Show

On December 19th there was a short interview with Marilyn Manson in the dutch tv-show "brard."

The interview was done by Patty Brard (it's her show) and it was broad-casted on the tv-channel "Veronica."

The interview took place at the Marilyn concert in Tilburg, Holland.(the14th). Marilyn was only wearing a small white towel and silver sunglasses.

At the end of the (short) interview it got a bit weird, when miss. Brard was stroking marilyns leg, and marilyn said "stop, you're getting me a hard-on", and miss Brard replied "oh" and she lifted the white towel for a short moment, in witch you could see something Marilyn prefers to cover with the bible.

I'd also like to note that Patty Brard is a nobody. She is definetly not a star in holland, so i was quite surprised to see Marilyn on her show.
Thanks a lot to: Ryvers

Richard Patrick & Trent Reznor Friends, Again

On Friday, December 18th at 8:30pm Eastern time, 5:30pm Pacific, there was a special Friday FILTER Chat @ Filter Online. Richard Patrick was the special guest for that chat session. He answered questions about his new album as well as other questions relating to Filter. Richard brought up NIN and said they are now friends again...

Notorious: Who are some bands you would like to tour with at some point in time?

RPatrick: there are so many good bands out there, but it all depends on their schedules and of course ours. maybe filter and NIN could hook up seeing as how we're friends now.
But what ever the case is, if they tour... that will surely rock! You can read the transcript here.

Explanation To Why Twiggy In Monster Magnet Video

For months now those who have been watching your favorite music video channels might have noticed that Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson has a quick 3 second cameo in Monster Magnet's video "Space Lord" sitting in the passenger seat of a car.

Today while thumbing through the latest "Bikini" magazine, which by the way Twiggy and Bobcat Goldthwait have a large a 3 picture interview ( click here for interview ) I came across an interview with Dave Wyndorf of Monster Magnet before the Twiggy & Bobcat interview. And on page 76, Wyndorf gives us an explanation on how Twiggy got his cameo in the video....

Wyndorf admits that Twiggy's cameo was calculated to get the attention of "the kids," but insists that guest stars are commonplace in your average video. "Hey, ya gotta get the 'monie shot,'" he laughs. "Like Dr. Dre in the Snoop Dogg video. And anyway, those Manson guys have been total Monster Magnet freaks since the first record. It's weird, man; they know every word to every song."

Well, that explains how Manson and Monster Magnet decided to tour together... just being old friends. (more infomation, read our December 12th update)

Random Nothing Notes

Marilyn manson's "sweet dreams" video came in at #6 on MTV's Buzzworthiest Videos countdown of all time. They basically showed clips of beautiful people, lunchbox, long hard road out of hell, dope hat, the dope show, the 1997 MTV live performance, and some random live footage. They talked about his "bowie-esque vocals" blah blah blah and how everyone took the bait when he tried to shock them. The final line was that he is actually "a very together guy" and kinda normal...

Manson was also on "Ultrasound: Year In Rock".

DMX Featuring Manson - Audio Clip

We reported earlier today with the track listing and the cover of the new DMX album featuring Marilyn Manson. Well, we have also obtained the track Manson guest appears on. For those who don't know already, the new DMX album is due out Tuesday, December 22nd. Marilyn Manson sings only a small part on track 10,"The Omen". The song is 4 minutes and 50 seconds long. Manson only sings the chorus of the track in his soft, growling type voice...

The chorus lasts for 22 seconds, which takes place at 1 minute and 49 seconds as well as 2 minutes and 54 seconds into the track. The lyrics below are similar to the chorus from the first song, "Damien":

Click here for the real audio of the clip.

The snakes, the rats, the cat and the dog
How you gonna live when you're in the fog.
The snakes, the rats, the cat and the dog
How you gonna live when you're in the fog.
The third chorus has different lyrics, which takes place 3 minutes 50 seconds into the track. Manson sings in an extremely low whsiper that you can barely hear because of the heavy bass and the noise effects in the background... This is the best I can make out what Manson is saying:

Click here for the real audio of the clip.
You can make it hurt on the way to hell
We know what to do and we do it well,
You can make it hurt on the way to hell
We know what to do and we do it well.
The song starts off with a women in a hospital praying to god, to not take her son away, (while the devil takes the boys soul she yells out a loud scream) then starting the song off with a guy barking... then DMX rapping...

The songs ends with DMX saying... "This is Marilyn Manson and DMX.. RUFF RYDERS".

New Nine Inch Nails Promotional Items

I gave a quick call to my uni rep yesterday evening to see about more information concerning the new Nine Inch Nails album as well as the new promotional postcards that are currently being distributed to radio stations, magazines, all over the country...

What you see on the right are the new 'ninetynine' postcards that we mentioned on December 11th. As you can see, it isn't much to look at than what we've seen many times before in magazines and on the commercials. The postcards feature a plain black background with the new orange nin font that the labels are advertising 'ninteynine'.

Those new to this subject... There was a one time showing of a nine inch nails commercial on September 10th featured during the Mtv Music Video Awards, ninteynine t-shirts, magazine ads and now postcards... (To keep in touch with the current nin album, please use our nin guide here as an alternative resource; also located at the top of the news page.)

What happens is for those interested, a few months before the release of a new album the label gives out a 'timeline' to distribution companies (Universal distributes Nothing/Interscope) which they keep track of featuring all the promotional news/items, etc. Interscope says that there is no current timeline for the new Nine Inch Nails album yet, but when that happens it'll feature larger quantities of news which only the representatives read. The other form of distribution news are the 'solicitation' sheets that the representatives bring to record stores, such as Tower Records, Waxi Maxi, Sam Goody, Music Land, etc. The stores then pick and choose what they want to carry, "We want 10 of these, 30 of those" you get the hint.

Interscope's promotional department also carry a mailing list of radio stations and music magazines that are signed up to receive promotional items such as CD's and postcards that you see today. So those radio stations out there that have been writing me... start making your phone calls to Interscope today.

When the timeline is created and the solicitation sheets are given out, we'll have the news online ASAP... other words, that day. So those who didn't know how it all works, you do now. =) By the way, my ninteynine postcards are running a little late, but when I get them I'll replace the graphic you see now with larger scans for those who keeping tabs on the album.

By the way, they fixed the font to have the famous nin logo, instead of just the backward "N" as seen before on the magazine ads and the commercial... interesting.... The actual ninteynine t-shirts also carry the new look, not the ads.

Charlie Clouser Remix of 'Dragula'

As promised here's the article on the Charlie Clouser remix of Rob Zombie's Dragula which can be found on the Much Music Big Shiny Tunes 3 compilation. The remix is called "Dragula (hot rod herman remix)" and it is one kick ass track... You can definitely tell it's the work of Charlie Clouser of Nine Inch Nails...

I've featured a half minute clip around the beginning of the track in HIGH QUALITY Real Audio format here [491k] for those who are interested in buying this compilation. I would have made an mp3 of the clip but my mpeg encoder expired, damn (that's why it's taken me so long to get this bitch online).

Here is the track listing:

1.) Smashing Pumpkins - Ava Adore
2.) Fastball - The Way
3.) Foo Fighters - My Hero
4.) Matthew Good Band - Apparitions (Edit)
5.) Semisonic - Closing Time
6.) Barenaked Ladies - One Week
7.) Beastie Boys - Three MC's and one DJ
8.) Rob Zombie - Dragula (The Hot Rod Herman Remix)
9.) Third Eye Blind - How's it going to be
10.) Sloan - Money City Maniacs
11.) Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away
12.) Placebo - Pure Morning
13.) Garbage - Push It
14.) Radiohead - Karma Police
15.) Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
16.) Big Wreck - That Song
17.) Monster Magnet - Space Lord
I'll upload the scans if not in the morning, definitely when I get home...
Thanks a lot to: roger and flatliners.

Controversial NIN & Manson Articles (Very Long In Text)

I have three very large articles concerning Marilyn Manson and one of NIN... I highly suggest reading them if you have some time on your hands... Below are a few snippets of the articles to get your started...

A girl of age 14 reads NIN lyrics to her mom in a food court mall... Uh oh!

In the twisted world of adolescence, songs about rage, violence and self- destruction make you feel better. They acknowledge and sometimes even exorcise the hypocrisy, loneliness, hostility and fear that many teenagers feel in mercilessly high relief. My mother's openness and trust strengthened our relationship. Yet she probably wondered.......

A 17 year old boy stabs a 14 year old girl in the neck.... before watching a Marilyn Manson video...
Late this October, in Arlington Heights, Texas, 17-year-old Jay Fieldon Howell was arrested and charged with stabbing a 14-year-old girl in the neck in front of a satanic altar he'd built in a backyard shed. The girl survived the attack, and Howell could face up to 99 years in prison for injury to a child. The two kids had been watching a Marilyn Manson video together moments before the alleged attack.
To read this full article click here.

A very large article, the biggest of what we have... it talks about everything pertaining to Manson... Find your reading glasses people. Some may need them...
Jaquez recommends that parents check out Marilyn Manson's Web site as well as the sites created by teenage fans. He believes that Manson's fans follow him as a religious leader, believing, in all seriousness, in Satanism as a religion. "We have an artist who is advocating the use of illicit drugs and anti-authority and anti-religion and self-mutilation and 'Kill your mother.'" He says many entreaties against his seminars come from kids and music journalists who call the program's message religiously discriminatory. While Jaquez claims to be concerned with "what they think," when questioned, he has trouble citing what those thoughts might be.

Thanks a lot to: BMoss81573 for the articles.

Random Nothing Notes

Here's a load of information that may be usefull to some viewers...

Here's one more poll to add to the list of polls swarming the internet. Mtv's website is holding a poll for the viewers to vote for their favorite album of the year here. Mechanical Animals is one of the many choices.

The official Marilyn Manson's sister site " Comawhite.com" is down right now. Reason at this point unknown. I hope to have an answer later today...

A website for an LA metal band L.A. Guns has some info concerning Charlie Clousers' previous band, Burning Retina. It states they will have a track on a Cleopatra Records compilation called "The Black Bible". The group also counts Sean Beavan as a member. The Cleopatra web site confirms the existence of the compilation.

Even though Marilyn Manson is probably not a favorite of SPIN magazine at the moment, the most recent issue (and also the one he had the fight over; Shirly Manson on cover) voted, "The Dope Show" as the #3 for best single of 1998 behind Fatboy Slim's "Rockafeller Skank" and the Beastie Boys, "Intergalactic".

I heard on X 103.9 (a radio station in San Bernardino county in CA) that a Nine Inch Nails laser light show will be put on in either the Ontario Mills theater or the San Bernardino County Museum. I am not exactly sure of the dates because I only heard the last half of the advertisement but I guess they are doing a whole series of bands along with NIN.

I read the post about manson wanting to work with director stanley kubrick for their script of Mechanical Animals (the movie) that you all posted 2 days ago. this is very unlikely and next to impossible that this would happen. kubrick is very picky about projects he wants to work with. his first project in 12 years is a script he wrote over 30 years ago. he's been in production for "eyes wide shut" for 3 years and will see a release date on july 16. after that kubrick will immediately begin production on his highly anticipated "a.i.". this project is looking at another production time of 3 years or more, with his regular 1 year for editing. so i guess he's booked for the next 5 years or so. it would be interesting though to see him do manson's script, even though he would change it totally around.
Thanks a lot to the following submiters: BK, NINXPX, Eugene, Drewski, anthony.

I haven't had the necessary time to upload the Clouser remix mp3 of Dragula yet... I really hope to get some of the audio online on my next update.... Work with me here...

Teletubbies & The Dope Show Don't Mix

There's an article in the latest Gear magazine, which features an article about the kids program Teletubbies. In the middle of the article it mentions that Manson's The Dope Show should not be listened to while watching this ridiculous children's show... And also as an interesting side note, it was written by Bret Easton Ellis -- writer of such infamous works as Less Than Zero and American Psycho.

Though it lacks the forced, nocuous gaiety of Barney, Teletubbies seems like a wicked Satanist's idea of horrible children's program watch in a future concocted by Huxley or Orwell or Gibson. They are reminiscent of the mutants in David Cronenberg's The Brood, and you can only stare and think: well they must have been designed to upset us. It's a dare. Marilyn Manson's calculated shock tactics seem phony compared to these psychedelic teddy bears (a warning: do not play The Dope Show over Teletubbies with the volume off). I would actually rather have my kids watch Taxi Cab Confessions or Deliverance.
You can read the whole article here.

Space Ghost - The Only Star In The Dope Show

The Cartoon Network website features a letter written to Marilyn Manson from the galatic "defender of the universe" Space Ghost. Even he has something to say about Manson's recent actions...

Marilyn Manson
Somewhere in the Vicinity of The Dope Show
Your Agent
Planet Earth

Dear Mr. Manson

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Space Ghost. Defender of the Universe. Protector of the Cosmos. And the man who will soon put an end to your wicked, wicked ways. For many years, I've found your music to be much too loud for the sensitive hearing of the Galaxy's favorite superhero. But I've let it go because I own a really good set of earplugs.

However, this time, Marilyn, you have gone too far.

I recently read that you spent an evening "trashing a hotel room," as you evil rock and rollers like to call it. Imagine you are an innocent couch. Strong, yet comfortable, with a very nice floral pattern. Gently supporting a superhero's aching back one day...then being thrown around the room the next by some skinny guy with strange hair!

Your evil reign of terrorizing hotel furniture is about to end.

Bring on your army of Mechanical Animals. Wear as much scary eye makeup as you want. Because there's only star of this "Dope Show", and that's me.

Yours truly,
Space Ghost
Thanks a lot to: FifthDreamToday and vektor.

I have lots of other news to post, but this is all I am capable of doing with out falling asleep at the keyboard...

I'm still working on getting some of Clouser's mix of Rob Zombie's "Dragula" online tonight.

Zim Zum Collaborates With Cher, John Taylor, Leif Garrett

Allstarmag.com features the report they told us earlier today about former Marilyn Manson guitarist Zim Zum.

After Zum's recent work with KoRn remixing their first single "Got The Life" off their 3rd album release, Follow The Leader. Zum quickly picks up the pace and teams up with a few unlikely bedfellows, including Cher, John Taylor of Duran Duran fame, and former teen idol Leif Garrett.

Here are a few snippets from Allstarmag.com's report.

"I'm not exactly sure where that will surface, but just working with Cher is amazing in itself," Zim Zum tells allstar. "I had this running joke for awhile, that I was only playing with people who were famous before I was born."

Zim Zum hooked up with Cher through his friendship with her son Elijah Blue. "When I was in there, it was all very different than what I was used to," he says. "It was very professional, very sterile..."

He says that while the track is still very Cher- sounding, he was able to throw in his own style on the song. "I wanted to take it to a bit more than the way the it was originally done, but it's not too far off." Taylor (John Taylor of Duran Duran) did his bass tracks for the song separately. "I was a huge Duran Duran fan, but he was on his way out when I got that -- that goes along with the sterile thing."

Meanwhile, Zim Zum is putting the final touches on material he's been working on and putting a live band together with the idea of playing a few surprise shows to see what material works best.
It's a very good article... Those who are fans of Zimmy should definitely check out the full article which talks much about some cover songs he did with Garrett.... Zum also stated that he is going to air on a VH1 special Behind the Music with Garret on January 10, '99.

You all can read the full article here.

Manson & Courtney Love Feud

Marilyn Manson has attacked Courtney Love for her 'exploitative' relationship with him.

In an interview with the NME he said: "Courtney never bothered to say hi to me until I sold a million records. She's an opportunist and I wouldn't consider her a friend.. .the way she's behaved towards me in the media has seemed very exploitative."
The rest of the article can be read here at NME.com's website...

Maybe Some Trouble With IDLTD(BTDLM) On Much Music

A viewer writes in explaning why Manson's new video "I Don't Like The Drugs(But The Drugs Like Me)" has yet to debut on Canada's Much Music video channel...

The video for IDLTD has yet to debut on much music here in canada, and i have recieved an email today, saying, that because of the questionable lyrics, that it is going to go before a review committee this week, to see if it will be played at all!
Chances are the video will play on. If anything... there will be some editing. I've seen worse videos aired on Mtv and such that contain MUCH more than what Manson has to sing about...
Thanks to: roger.

Those who are interested in learning about Zimmy's recent collaboration... tune in to Allstarmag.com's next update which should be in the next hour or so... They have some very interesting news about Zimmy's latest...

Mechanical Animals Movie Script!

Manson has said that they have a finished movie script of Mechanical Animals which they would like to bring to life... Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch are in the list of directors that they would like to work with...

I watched an interview of marilyn manson on a french channel (Arte) last saturday. Manson was talking about the machanical animals theme and that it's quite difficult for everyone to understand this release philosophy. Well, Manson was saying the band wrote a script about Mechanical Animals and was looking for a director (Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch are in the list). Hope this movie will be released some day.
I hope to have more information about this later this week...

EXCLUSIVE - New Nine Inch Nails News

Last week we mentioned quite a lot about Trent Reznor offering his Garden District Mansion in New Orleans... as a first time peek inside his fully refurbished Greek Revival mansion for those who were lucky enough to obtain reservations with the Preservation Resource Center (PRC).

Well, it was definitely worth mentioning if you ask me... The home-tour patron party for the PRC was held on Friday, Dec. 11th at 7-10pm.

For those fortunate souls who were over 21 years of age and dressed formally, attended this grand event last weekend, had to pay a pretty penny of $75 dollars up front at the PRC for reservations. In fact the PRC patron-party sold out on Wed, Dec. 9th at 4pm central with a whopping 300 people attending...

So without further ado... SeemsLikeSalvation News presents the full story on what went on that special night at the Reznor house including news about the new nin album, new single, his home, his family the works...

Thanks to: ApathY351 who attended the party. (please give credit, where credit is due)

The PRC party was awesome! My three friends and I were hoping just to see Trent or somebody associated with Nine Inch Nails. We ended up getting to talk to Trent, John Malm, Keith Hillebrandt, Trent's agent (also the agent for Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and 311), Trent's parents, and his grandfather.

Trent's grandfather, the one who raised him, told us about Trent getting in trouble for putting corn in some guy's gas tank when he was younger.

I talked to Keith Hillebrandt for about 15 minutes before I even knew who he was. He was a really nice guy. I asked him about the new album and he said it would probably come out in Spring some time. I could tell that he couldn't talk in depth about the new album so I just asked him what he thought about it. He said in his opinion it is the best NIN album yet. He also said that the music on the commercial for the new album was a combination of two songs.

We hit it off really well with Trent's dad Mike and his wife. We hung out with them for probably over half the time that we were there. They were very familiar with all the stuff going on with NIN and really liked the music. Mike was making us laugh the whole time; he was really funny. He said he never wears tuxedos and felt out of place. He jokingly told us to push some guy in the pool, His wife was just extremely nice. She was so friendly and easy to talk to that we immediately stopped feeling like we were out of place and just had a good time. We got their take on all kinds of things. We talked about Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love, the new album (they said they thought a new single would be coming out real soon), their favorite NIN album (Downward Spiral), and tons of other stuff. Talking to them was definitely the highlight of the evening for the four of us.

Mike personally introduced me to Trent. His hair was cut short. I only got to talk to him for a minute before a bunch of people with the PRC came up and started talking to him. Everyone in the place was trying to mingle with him so if you got to talk to him it wasn't for long. But he was very nice and not at all condescending like a few of the people at the party.

The original paintings for the Downward Spiral and Closure were hanging up in the house. There are actual human teeth on one of the paintings for the Downward Spiral.

I was surprised to see that at least ninety percent of the people were either associated with NIN or the PRC. I saw maybe a small handful of people who were just NIN fans like us.
Also for those who are interested... Trent has cut his hair which is about 2-3 inches long and it's combed forward. In the picture we posted here last month it is slicked back. At the Friday's party I'm told it was like a long ceasar cut.

We also received an email from another viewer who was spoken to about the party...
I just thought that I'd let you know that my teacher met trent at his house friday night. She said that he was very nice and even though she wanted to tell him that his music was "bad, bad, bad," she didn't. She also told me that he spotted two "stalkers" and that they had to be removed. What i was most upset about was that the people weren't even checking id's and she could have gotten me in!
That is all I know at this point, I'll see about getting more information later today and Mike Reznor... I know you're watching.. write me some time. I have lotsto talk about. (grin)
Thanks ever so much to: ApathY351 and jezebel!!

Manson Exclusive: Truth About "Jawbreaker" Sex Scene

First I want to say that last week Rollingstone Online featured a large article about Marilyn Manson's cameo in his girl friend's (Rose McGowan) new feature film "Jawbreaker".

Rollingstone explained that both Manson and McGowan engaged in an "act of sodomy" of a steamy on screen sex scene in the upcoming suspense thriller due out in theaters February 19th, 1999. A source of mine who I talked to last night over the phone was able to attend a Cast/ Crew screaning of the "Jawbreaker" film last month and informed me with the whole story behind the movie when I brought the subject up... details below...

He explained to me that Rollingstone blew the "Jawbreaker" article they reported on Friday, Dec. 11th way out of proportion (Read Dec. 11th news) ... He explained to me that Rose and Manson are in no way as nude as Rollingstone explained... But McGowan does in fact lead Manson in a sex scene, which again is not nearly as explicit as RS makes it out to be... I'm told all you see is a quick shot of Rose's face and then a quick glance at Manson's... but yes, the scene with Manson and McGowan is very quick and is in no way as bad as the majority of those writing in thought it was... The whole point of this scene (spoiler coming up, turn away now) is to frame Manson as the killer of the girl under the box spring, where the girl's corpse rests with the large jawbreaker stuffed down her throat... accidentally mind you! Well, it doesn't work... Manson is not accused of murder. (Spoiler over, read on) Manson is said to be wearing a thin black mustache with no make up what so ever. Our source explains, "It makes him look like a funny Mexican." I'm told that the movie is rated "R" and is similar to a "Scream" kind of flick with familiar face type people... other words... new stars for upcoming similar movies, just like this. Our source also explain, "Manson nails the part as a sleazy character in this film."

The movie is enjoyable, but is more "hilarious than serious" our source explains. The plot of the movie is McGowan and her friend's kidnap the "birthday" girl for a surprise party. Doing so they put an extremely over-sized jawbreaker in her mouth to gag her, while throwing her in the trunk of their car to take to the party... later the girl swallowing it and dying... I'm told the movie is worth the money and again is due for release in the theaters February 19th. Oh and Manson makes a few quick scenes before his "major" cameo.

Vrenna's Toys Goes To Charity!

Allstarmag.com features a large article here about Chris Vrenna's latest work and his generosity of getting into the spirit of Christmas.

Vrenna is not only a mastermind at programming, but believe it or not.. He's also a hard core toy collector! Vrenna recently gave up a large chunk of his personal toy/doll collection to a popular kid's charity foundation "Toys for Tots" on Monday, December 14th, 1998... But you see, to be a master at collecting.. You must have the complete set of "He-Man". They are the shit if you ask me!

Here are a few snippets from Allstar's report:

The avid toy collector donated the bulk of his collection of toys, dolls, and playsets, including complete collections of Star Wars, Toy Story, Jurassic Park, Spawn, Mask, and Aliens figurines to Toys for Tots on Monday (Dec. 14). The collection is worth about $6,000 and includes more than 500 toys. (He wouldn't part with his Spice Girls dolls or his more adult- oriented toys like his gay Billy doll, though.) "I got out of collecting because the fun has been ruined in the last year, because the popularity of toy collecting has gone through the roof and the thrill of the hunt is gone," says Vrenna, who is currently working on his Tweaker project, due next year on Almo Sounds. "I was trying to find a way to lose the collection, and I figured this is the right thing to do." We couldn't agree more.
But boy does Vrenna have his hands full... Vrenna is also producing a new artist, L.A.-based singer/ songwriter Ebony-Tay for Chris Blackwell's Palm Pictures. Allstarmag reports that Vrenna is doing three tracks with her now, and they'll see how it goes from there. Allstar also states that starting in January, Vrenna will be hitting the studio with Jane Jensen to put his skill of programming to work with Don Gilmore (Eve 6, X, Clay Pigeons soundtrack) producing. The album will be out on Flip/ Interscope sometime next year...

I'm still working on getting some of Clouser's mix of Rob Zombie's "Dragula" online tonight.

Reznor & Wink News

I think I might have posted this snippet earlier in the summer, I dunno... but the article is still important to those who have never read it, it's a great peice.... The article comes from an online Keyboard magazine which talks how Trent and Josh Wink collaborated to make "Black Bomb(Jerry In The Bag).

You brought in some interesting artists for this record: Ursula Rucker, Caroline Crawley, the Interpreters, and Trent Reznor. Many Keyboard readers would be interested in your collaboration with Trent.

That actually happened through Jason Jordan, who does A&R for Columbia and Ovum. I sent a couple of tapes out to people who I hoped to get vocals from. So I sent Trent a tape, and I heard back that he was interested, and that he wanted to do something with it. And that's how that came about. We talked several times on the phone, I talked with his whole crew down in New Orleans. It turned out really well. His writing really complemented it. You heard the track; it's a weird track. I mean, you wouldn't expect it to be what it is. It's eight minutes long, it's. . . . The track had existed for a year already, but I just wanted to do something different with it. When I'd first started working on it, I was playing it out in the clubs on DAT, and someone heard it and said, "What is it? It sounds like you, the Art Of Noise, and Aphex Twin all put together." I did a lot of sampling on it, like of my cat, some distortion, and some household things. And so when Trent came into the picture, we sent ADAT tapes back and forth, and kept on the phone during the process.

So Trent developed all the lyrics and melody lines?

Basically. . . . We're both artists, and when I work with the artist, I do my thing, and then I say, "I respect you as an artist. I dig what you do. So do what you do to this." It's kind of like, "Here's a painting. I'm not going to tell you what to do. Just do it." And what Trent did I thought was very cool. We actually did two different mixes of it. They did a mix and sent it to me, and then I did a mix, which is the one that ended up on the album. They made the vocals really stand out, like a song; like they're used to doing it. I'm used to dealing with it more like a track, where there's much more tension in between the vocals and the track.

Manson And McGowan Get It On In Jawbreaker Film

Rollingstone.com features a very large article here detailing an on screen sex scene with Manson's girlfriend, Rose McGowan and himself in the upcoming movie "Jawbreaker" due out February 9th, 1999. The article also states Manson has expressed interest in directing the first video off the soundtrack, entitled "Yoo Hoo" by the Bay Area indie band 'Imperial Teen'... but since Manson and his entourage have such a tight overseas tour package, this may not happen.

Below is the full article:

In perhaps the most nauseating current example of art imitating life, Scream actress Rose McGowan recently invited her beau Marilyn Manson to consummate her film career with an on-screen sex scene that represents a legal evil in almost half the United States.

The striking couple appears partially nude and very nasty in a brief, yet perverse snippet of the forthcoming Columbia Tri-Star picture, Jawbreaker, due in theaters on Feb. 19. McGowan reportedly lures her real-life lover into bed during one scene and engages in an act of sodomy while her friend's corpse rests peacefully under the box spring. The Antichrist Superstar's cameo lasts less than a minute and comes without any warning, says a source close to the project.

According to the script, McGowan and a troupe of schoolmates playfully kidnap their ultra-popular high school friend, Liz Purr, for an early morning birthday surprise. They silence Purr by stuffing a jawbreaker into her mouth then cramming her into the trunk of a car. She chokes to death and McGowan spends the remainder of Jawbreaker evading blame.

And how does McGowan's character cover her tracks? Unbridled sex, of course. In an attempt to peg Purr as a ferocious maneater, McGowan shags Manson's character and leaves his, ahem, demon seed behind with the corpse as proof of her friend's supposed promiscuity. Tasteful cinematography, indeed.

The mood music playing behind Manson's romantic rendezvous is not his goth or glam, but rather recycled teenage rebellion of a similar nature. Due out Feb. 9, the Jawbreaker soundtrack contains two previously released tracks from the Bay Area indie band Imperial Teen, "Yoo Hoo" and "Water Boy." Manson is said to have expressed interest in directing the music video for "Yoo Hoo," which is slated to hit radio in late January as the soundtrack's first single. However, because Manson's tour schedule is packed with overseas dates through Jan. 31, his directorial debut remains tentative at this time.

Playing the clean musical foil to Manson, teen punk chicks the Donnas cameo in the film as a "raw and rowdy prom band" with on-screen performances of two songs from American Teenage Rock & Roll Machine: "Checkin' It Out" and "Rock & Roll Machine," the latter of which appears on the soundtrack. In addition, slam sisters the Prissteens throw in "Beat You Up" from this year's critically acclaimed Scandal, Controversy and Romance, and Letters to Cleo contribute "I See" from 1994's Aurora Gory Alice.

The soundtrack's only real surprises come from Ednaswap, who pitch in a previously unrecorded version of the Police tune "Next to You," and Grand Mal, who make their world premiere with "Stay in Bed" -- a track slated to appear this February on the group's debut album, Maladdiction.

Manson T-Shirt Ruling

Sonicnet.com features a breif article here about the woman who was fined $250 for wearing a Marilyn Manson T-shirt in public in April, according to a deputy clerk for the Marshall County Circuit Court. Venus Starlett Dust Morgan was found guilty of harassment in May. The T-shirt, which she wore to Benton's annual Tater Days Festival, bore the phrase "I Am The God Of F---" (from the song "Cake and Sodomy"). A ruling is expected in early 1999.

More On Polygram/Universal Merger

Sonicnet.com has a followup on their article from last week about the merging of Polygram and Universal. Universal distributes Interscope... No doubt, Marilyn Manson will be fine...

A spokesman for the new Universal Music Group confirmed Thursday (Dec. 10) bands will be dropped and staffers laid off as a result of the merger and reorganization of PolyGram and Universal under the UMG banner.

Bob Bernstein [senior vice president for public relations at UMG] declined, however, to confirm or deny predictions by industry insiders and musicians that 3,000 jobs will be lost and dozens of bands will be sent packing.

UMG's press release included a list of more than 50 popular artists now signed to the conglomerate, as a result of those artists having deals with any of the affiliated labels that UMG now comprises. The list included such high-profile acts as hip-hop/folkie Beck, R&B artists Blackstreet and Erykah Badu, shock-rocker Marilyn Manson, hip-hop's LL Cool J and Jay-Z, ska band No Doubt and rock groups U2 and the Wallflowers.

But the list was not intended as a guide to what bands are sure bets for surviving the reorganization, Bernstein said. Decisions about particular bands will be left to the individual labels, he said.

12 Rounds Tidbit

I didn't know if you or anyone else has known this, but the song "Something's Burning" by 12 Rounds was on a movie called "All Over Me." I just saw it on HBO tonight, and at the end of the credits they started playing that song. I looked up the soundtrack listing to see if they has pulled it from their nothing records release or their Polydor Records release, and it was from their previous release. I just thought that was interesting considering they're a pretty new band. By the way, I love 12 Rounds!

Those Manson fans on here or the ones who enjoy watching the video can take part to see "I Don't Like The Drugs(But The Drugs Like Me)" by voting on Mtv's 'Total Request Live' here.

Today on MTV's Total Request Live, Marilyn Manson's video "I Don't Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me)" made its TRL debut at #8, only one day after its world premiere. This is only significant because it shows that people are warming up to Manson (remember it took almost a month before "The Dope Show" even made it into the countdown).

Manson Not Likely For Lollapolozza '99

Sonicnet.com features a new article here about Manson not headling or playing Lollapalooza which some speculated.

After weeks of negotiations, it now looks doubtful that shock-rocker Marilyn Manson will be appearing on the 1999 Lollapalooza tour, according to the tour's co-founder, Ted Gardner. While the controversial band was said to be in serious negotiations with organizers to headline the fest -- which took 1998 off after failing to secure a headliner -- talks between Manson and Lollapalooza broke down last week and appear unlikely to resume.

Manson Talks About His Bodyguards

Mtv news online features a new interview with Manson discussing his bodyguards... This topic is in discussion because when Manson plays home on New Year's Eve at the Joint in Las Vegas, Nevada... he may face some problems... because Spin Magazine announced they will pursue criminal and civil action against Manson and his bodyguards for allegedly roughing-up editor Craig Marks...

"[Your] bodyguard," Loder asked, "do you get to use him? Can you just sick him on somebody? If you see somebody, can you say, 'Would you go squash that person for me?' Or is it more sophisticated than that?"

"No, it doesn't really work like that," Manson said, "because everybody wants to sue you for something. But a lot of times I just try and get him sex, you know. A lot of people try to go through the other people to get to me, I just want to see him get some love because bodyguards need love too."

CPRC Strategies Keeping Manson Out Of Their Children

There's a new article on Sonicnet.com which discusses a workshop conducted Fridays and Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas about a Crime Prevention Resource Center which offers educators and law-enforcement officers strategies for monitoring the activities of children who listen to shock rocker Marilyn Manson. Here are a few snippets...

parents of Manson fans should consider having their kids hospitalized, the group recommends.

Anthony Dillof, a law professor at Texas Wesleyan University, said administrators need reasonable grounds to believe a student is in violation of school rules or the law before searching his or her locker.

"They can't go through a student's locker just because he's been listening to some type of music or engaged in some type of activity, unless that activity strongly suggests that he's involved in some type of illegal or improper activity," Dillof said Sunday.

Ramon Jacquez, director of programs for the organization, said last month that a majority of goth-rock fans engage in criminal activity, such as drug use and graffiti writing. He has called for schools to classify goth fans as a street gang, on a par with such notorious groups as the Crips, the Bloods and the Latin Kings.

Vrenna's Tweaker Album - Guests & More

There's a a lot of new information about Chris Vrenna's new album "Tweaker" on the Alternative Press website here .. He talks about guests on the album and makes a quick joke about NIN & Filter...

Former Nine Inch Nails drummer/programmer Chris Vrenna has signed a deal with Almo sounds for his Tweaker project. "It's a weird, cool arrangement," says Vrenna. "The Tweaker thing is just me in the studio with special guests . [The record] will be different. I've been talking to a bunch of cool folks from various genres. Hopefully, I'll confound people." Shudder To Think's Craig Wedren has already done some vocal tracks for Tweaker, and the Melvins' Buzz Osbourne has contributed vocal and guitar parts, as well. In addition to wrapping up the Tweaker record (tentatively titled The Attraction To All Things Uncertain), Vrenna will be putting together a band for a conventional rock project. "As much fun as it is to sit in the studio and be a geek, I miss playing live," he admits, then jokingly adds, "Did you hear about the big stadium tour? It'll be NIN and special guests Filter, with Tweaker opening. Oh, and on selected dates, Ashtar Command. Did I miss anybody?"

Hank cuts down Trent

Mtv News features an article here about a new book which was recently released by Henry Rollins, features a snippet of NIN in one of the so-many pages in the book called "Do I Come Here Often?".

Punk multi-hyphenate Henry Rollins uncovers fragments of Isaac Hayes, David Lee Roth, and John Lee Hooker and opens many more windows onto his own inner workings in "Do I Come Here Often?," his latest written work.

The book, the second in his "Black Coffee Blues" series, features a number of previously unpublished passages from Rollins' journals, including his tour diary from Lollapalooza's maiden voyage in 1991. Rollins details the bond he formed with Ice-T during the tour as well as a backstage meeting with Tom Waits and his distaste for tourmates Nine Inch Nails.

"These guys are so weak it's not funny," he writes in one entry.

"Do I Come Here Often?" arrived in bookstores last week, and the third volume in the "Black Coffee Blues" series, "Smile, You're Traveling," is currently in the works.

PRC Has This Tour Nine Inch Nailed

Trent Reznor opens his doors for a tour of his Greek Revival mansion! Chance of a life time, nin fans!

The Preservation Resource Center has added a definitively hip and edgy note to its holiday home tour this year. Trent Reznor, a very loud rocker-yet a very quiet preservationist-has offered his sumptuous Garden District digs for the Resource Center's home-tour patron pary-the first time Reznor has publically offered a peek inside his fully refurbished Greek Revival mansion. Producer of such musical artists as Marilyn Manson and the front man for industrial Goth-rockers Nine Inch Nails, Reznor also owns a recording studio in a former funeral home on Magazine Street but, until now, has been fiercely protective and private about his New Orleans properties. A native of Cleveland, he relocated here earlier in the decade, drawn by the dark and lusty muses that have seduced artists as diverse as West Texas honky-tonker Jerry Jeff Walker, New York City '70s club operator and painter Diego Cortez, and movie director Francis Ford Coppola into taking up residences here-it's that indefinable essence of abandon and creativity that feeds the soul.

The pricey renovation of the Reznor home-next door to former City Councilwoman Peggy Wilson and just around the corner from the residences of Anne Rice and Archie Manning-was supervised by local architect Rick Fifield, but neither he nor anyone in the Reznor camp is talking about what it looks like inside. That's for PRC patrons only to know. To become a patron, you need only to love architecture and write a check-$75 will get you invited. The party is Friday. Space is limited.
I'm working on getting further information about this... If anyone has anything to add about this tour, please let us know as well as those who are going... write back!
Thanks a lot to: Emelie.

Manson Video - Still Incomplete

We expected and mentioned many times the last few days about Manson's second video off Mechanical Animals, "I Don't Like The Drugs(But The Drugs Like Me)" on how it wasn't going to air on last nights showing of Mtv's "120 Minutes" because it was incomplete. Which in fact it didn't, like we speculated well... We'll try to get further information today or tomorrow... Obviously from the our earlier reports last week, the video is still incomplete and is taking longer than expected... The video will debut this week most likely on Mtv's "Total Request Live" at 3:30pm EST Wednesday or Thursday. But the funniest thing about last night's '120 Minutes' showing was, at the very beginning of the show Matt Pinfield even announced they were going to air the video last night! I tell ya it's a conspiracy!

That's all the news for today.

PolyGram-Universal Merges

Sonicnet.com features a large article here about PolyGram and Universal merging, meaning there's going to be a lot of mid-level and lesser-known acts and a lot of pink slips for employees for those labels. Here are a few snippets of the article:

The $10.4 billion merger, scheduled for completion in mid-December, will fuse Universal, parent company of Interscope, Geffen, MCA, DreamWorks and several other labels, with PolyGram, the labels of which include A&M, Mercury, Motown, Def Jam and Island. The Canada-based beverage-giant Seagram Company Ltd., which owns Universal, is buying PolyGram and folding it into an expanded Universal Music Group.

Dark clouds are hovering over Universal's and PolyGram's own labels. A source at one label, who preferred to remain nameless, called the atmosphere "depressing." He said word from high up seems to change daily.

The company reportedly will be anchored by four U.S. units, each with 100 acts. On the West Coast, Interscope (home of Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails and No Doubt), Geffen and A&M will be rolled into the Interscope Music Group. The MCA Records Group (Semisonic) will remain, untouched, as its own unit. In the East, Def Jam (Method Man) and Motown (Queen Latifah) will be woven together as Universal Records, while Island (U2) and Mercury (Kiss) will be soldered into the Island/Mercury Group. It has been reported that U2 will record for Interscope.
At least there is nothing extremely depressing for NIN or Manson...

MBM Nominted - Best Electronic Music Album

Meat Beat Manifesto's album, Actual Sounds + Voices has been nominated for the California Music Awards in the category of "Best Electronic Music Album" of 1998.

We also stated on December 2nd that Manson was nominted for the "Best Album" category, in fact, Mechanical Animals was also nominated for the best "Rock/Pop" album. Manson is up against such artists as Hole, Korn, Cake, and Master P. For a complete list of the nominees and information on how you can get tickets to the March 13, 1999 event you can read our Dec 2nd news or click here.

The winner is chosen through public ballot with entries available in BAM Magazine (distributed free in North & South California editions) for fiveconsecutive weeks beginning with the December 4th issue.

The December 4th issue of BAM also highlights Meat Beat Manifesto as the 'cover' feature story in the magazine. Voice your support for MBM bypicking up an issue and mailing in an entry.

Also, Actual Sounds + Voices is scheduled to be released in Japan on CD Friday, so check the stores.... In the traditional style of releasing Japenese CDs with extra stuff, this CD has a special booklet different than all the other releases, featuring commentary and lyrics on many of the tracks. There are no bonus tracks due to space limitations.

Furthermore, those who are interested in tapeing Meat Beat Manifesto's video "Prime Audio Soup" it will air again on tonight's episode of AMP on MTV. The show starts at 2am and MBM will be the third video played. The viewer sends in as well that "Prime Audio Soup" ep is out on import now, no u.s. release is planned.

Manson Cancelled Two Concerts

The reports of Marilyn Manson feeling ill before performing at the Milan, Italy concert are true. Manson arrived on schedule with the usual plan and played on.... The following concert Saturday in Munich, Germany was cancelled due to an illness, which Manson was feeling on Friday, says Interscope. Sadly tonight's concert at Vienna, Austria has been cancelled most likely for the same reasons, which at this point is not confirmed. In total that gives Manson 4 full strong days to take a load off and get well... His next concert is to be in Copenhagen, Denmark on Wednesday, December 9th. By that time Manson should be back on his feet, peforming like usual! We all need a break some time or another...

Thanks for the help: marilyn-manson.net news.

Manson Video News & NIN Tidbit

I'll be double checking tonight's episode of "120 Minutes" at midnight tonight to see if they are really going to air Manson's debut video, "I Don't Like The Drugs(But The Drugs Like Me)" since Mtv's 120 Minutes website here was the first to announce the date of the video BEFORE Carson Daily of "Total Request Live" announced they were going to air it on Friday, December 4th not knowing that it was incomplete.. Meaning it should still be incomplete as of today... Carson did state after showing the SNEAK PREVIEW of what they carried of IDLTD(BTDLM) that they are going to air it in its entirety on TRL some time next week. I'm told by some that "Total Request Live" (which airs at 3:30pm and 9pm EST every weekday) is known for debut videos... Just recently the 120 minutes website updated saying "Debut videos are tentative and are subject to change". Which is hinting that it isn't going to happen... We'll just have to wait and see, won't we!?

The fund raiser is auctioning personalized holiday ornaments decorated by such bands as Everclear, the Fugees, Beck, Beastie Boys, Adam Sandler, Green Day, and even the Chairman of Holiday Cheer himself, Marilyn Manson who has personalized a green Christmas bulb ornament, (shown on right). At this time the current bid for Manson's green bulb is holding at a strong price of $450 here at bhauction.com.

DMX Album f/ Manson New Street Date

Mtv News has a short article about DMX's new album... which we all know, Marilyn Manson has contributed work to his album recently...

DMX, the canine crusader will release "Blood of My Blood, Flesh of My Flesh," with appearances from Jay-Z, the Lox, Mary J. Blige and Marilyn Manson, on December 22, while the first single from the record is entitled "Slippin'."
Wallofsound.com reported on October 26th about this release that Marilyn Manson worked together with DMX during the end of October in an LA Studio on a rap and roll remix of "Damien," a song that first appeared on DMX's debut album, It's Dark & Hell Is Hot, which debuted at the top of the charts in May. Although publicists for DMX at Def Jam at that time did not return phone calls, an industry source says the remix will appear on DMX's upcoming sophomore album, Flesh of My Flesh.

Manson Audio Of Swedish TV

We told you that Manson was to appear on a Swedish television show to discuss issues about drugs... We have the audio to the interview for those who didn't get a chance to watch it...

Marilyn Manson appeared on Swedish channel 4 today and talked about drugs, childabuse and about his image (whether he's just acting or not). He went on and said something about selfcontrol and "if there's some lighterfluid in my dressingroom I may feel the need to set it on fire..." It was a short interview and afterwards some people in the studio talked about Manson and his image. They all came to the conclusion that all the controversy surrounding Manson is just a clever way to for him upset America and to sell more records.
You can listen to the interview here [579k]
Thanks a lot to: daniel for the audio.

Manson On Fox Files Next Week

Next week on Fox Files, on local Fox Stations, there is going to be a feature on shock rock. On last nights show, they showed a preview of next week with footage of Manson, Insane Clown Posse, GWAR and a couple others. Can't Touch Manson SOME Say!

There's a new large article featured at Sonicnet on this Greg Marks issue of Executive Editor of Spin Magazine.... here are a few snippets.

Michael Hirschorn, editor in chief of Spin magazine, said the alleged assault on Marks may have been a publicity stunt by Manson. He acknowledged that it's doubtful the singer would be harmed by prosecution or litigation.

"There's not much you can do to a guy like that," Hirschorn said. "Even if the guy gets sent to jail, it only increases his outlaw stature. There isn't any downside. If there's a cash settlement, he's got more money than he knows what to do with, and a criminal record is like a badge of honor."

Gary Bongiovanni, editor in chief of the trade magazine Pollstar, which tracks the concert industry, said it's unlikely Manson would be hurt by the recent allegations.

"I suppose if it became a pattern, it would have an impact, but promoters who do Manson know it's not going to be an easy promotion," Bongiovanni said. "In Marilyn Manson's case it's probably to the band's advantage if people are uncertain what's going to happen. From an audience's perspective, not knowing what's going to happen, and the rebelliousness, is part of what Marilyn Manson is."

I Don't Like The Drugs - SNEAK PEAK!

Apparently the new video "I Don't Like The Drugs(But The Drugs Like Me)" is incomplete at this point, says Carson Daily of Mtv's "Total Request Live". They explained that director Paul Hunter still has some finishing touches to add to the video and that the video will debut in its entirety on Mtv some time NEXT week.

So knowing that much, I gave a quick ring to Interscope Records to find out what's up with that! They explained to me that there are two versions of the video at this point and they are in the process of remastering it/fine tuning it to Marilyn Manson's liking... (which Interscope carries the vids) Manson has a concert tonight in Milan, Italy which Tony Ciulla [Manson's Manager] is with him (as always) and my source told me they talked sometime yesterday and said that Manson hasn't given his final thought yet! Like we said on December 1st that video was having difficulties meeting the deadline.... now we understand what's taking so long.

All and all, at least we have something! You can download the sneak preview of "I Don't Like The Drugs" here in Real Video format [929k]

I'm heading out to see the remake of Psycho, so I don't have any time to update with the other news reports that I carry. I'll capture as many stills from the video and feature them on my next update tomorrow (won't be home) and feature ALL the other news I have tonight.

But at this point... the video that "120 Minutes" will air on Sunday @ 12:00am is going to be the sneak preview also. It'll be next week when the video debuts in its entirety.

Expect all the updates early tomorrow morning...

Correction, Tomorrow ISThe NEW Manson Video

It seems the only ones who know what's going on about Manson's new video is Mtv!

Carson announced earlier today [click here to download announcement in Real Video format] on "Total Request Live" that Marilyn Manson's new video "I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me)" will have first dibs on their count down show Friday, December 4th @ 3:30pm (Eastern Standard Time).

There should be a rerun of the program at 9:00pm where those who want to tape it can, but by that time the video will already be online here at SLS with 30 so pictures to download from....

Again, Mtv's episode of "120 Minutes" on Sunday, December 6th will debut "IDLTD(BTDLM)" at the start of theirshow around midnight or 12:05am.

Criminal And Civil Action Pursues Marks Towards Manson

Sonicnet.com features the latest information about SPIN magazine's executive editor, Craig Marks. So far, Marks has stepped up with plans to pursue criminal and civil action against Marilyn Manson. Here are few snippets:

Vibe/Spin Ventures plans to pursue criminal and civil action against shock-rocker Marilyn Manson in the wake of an alleged backstage attack on Spin magazine's editor at the hands of the singer's bodyguards.

In addition to pursuing criminal and civil action on its employees' behalf, the magazine's parent company said it will take several measures to improve security in its midtown Manhattan offices.

"My feeling is that it was altogether premeditated," said Marks, 37, of the alleged assault. "Especially the physical violence. ... I don't know what he hoped to gain. I don't know if he was trying to intimidate me or just act out for his bandmates. ... It seems like an action that reeks of some kind of desperation."
The article features a lot of quotes from Marks. No statements from Interscope just yet, But for those who are interested in reading the full article click here.

This issue will be talked about for some time. I only report articles that feature new information about the subject, not consistent reports of the same thing. If you know what I mean.

On another note Mechanical Animals has dropped from #52 to #97 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in two weeks, reports Sonicnet.

NIN's "Piggy" Played On Teacher's Machine As A Spook

This incident took place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Someone was so obssessed with this teacher that a stalker was planning to kill the person. One thing this stalker did was put Nails Inch Nails song "Piggy" on his teacher's answering machine. The article states the song as "Hey Pig" which we all know very well is wrong. Though it's just a quick mention, but it still plays a big role in this incident...

Quake III Soundtrack

An FLA website mindphaser.com has information about Front Line Assembely submitting tracks to idsoftware and are being considered for Quake3 Arena... The snippet was featured here.

Here`s a snippet of info posted on the forum today about the tracks Bill submitted for the new Quake game....."I was fortunate to visit the offices of id Software earlier this week to see their progress on Quake III Arena and generally say hi. The game's looking awesome of course, but I was also impressed by the DATs Bill Leeb sent for the soudtrack. I was told it's all subject to change at this point, but the tracks I heard (3 in all) were beat-driven, not ambient like Trent Reznor's work, and they all had guitar. One was a hip-hop ghetto-blaster kinda deal, the second more in the "classic" industrial vein, and the third a breakbeat track. Whether or not they're conductive to deathmatching I can't rightly say, but I thought they kicked serious ass and I hope id chooses to include them when Quake III ships in '99."

New Radicals Wants To Kick Manson's Ass!

Mtv News features an article about a new band called "New Radicals" here, which in fact the band has a one liner in their new video/single that pissed off Manson a little bit; not because of what was said technically but who he used it with.... details below.

Also, if you're interested in downloading the Mtv News brief that we uploaded in Real Video on this subject click here. The download features the whole story below as well as the clip that insults Manson, Hole... and um, Hanson. The File is only 1.2 megs large.

Alexander [lead singer for New Radicals] said "Actually the truth about that particular lyric is that I'm a major major major fan of Hanson, Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson. I wanted to make sure they got as much exposure as possible."
Mtv's Kurt Loder caught up with Manson at the State Theater performance in Detroit [November 16th, '98] which brought up this subject to Manson and Manson responding:
"I'm giving an open invitation to the singer of the New Radicals," Manson said, "because he's all strange and spiritual, and he challenged me in one of his songs. A lot of people would say, 'Y'know, don't give him the attention, cause that's what he wants.' But I think I'll crack his skull open if I see him."

"What does the song say?" Loder asked.

"Well, you guys are playing it," Manson said, "it says something like, 'Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson, come around here and we'll kick your ass in.' I'm not mad that he said he'd kick my ass, I just don't want to be used in the same sentence with Courtney Love."
I've never seen or met someone who's a Hanson fan and a Marilyn Manson fan... There's nothing wrong with that... by the way.. but...

That's all the news for now... I have a lot of scanning to do. I'll throw up some scans of the Mechanical Animals vinyl that I carry among many other things too... later.

Onofrio Vs. Reznor Suit Dismissed By Judge

The Associated Press feature the latest and final word on the Onofrio suit that began August '97....

A federal judge has tossed out a lawsuit that claimed Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor stole songs for his 1994 album, "Downward Spiral."

The copyright infringement suit was dismissed Tuesday by U.S. District Judge William Rea, who put the trial on hold in February in hopes that both sides would settle.

"We're celebrating," said Jamie Broder, Reznor's lawyer.

Los Angeles songwriter Mark Onofrio sued Reznor in August 1997, claiming Reznor stole six of his songs, including some that appeared on "Downward Spiral" and one that appeared on the "Natural Born Killers" movie soundtrack. He later dropped the claims on three songs.

Onofrio's attorney, Michael Blaha, said an appeal was likely.

Onofrio said he met Reznor through an online chat room and asked if Reznor would listen to some of his songs. The complaint said Reznor agreed and the music was mailed to Reznor's Los Angeles home.
Obviously, it's one less problem to worry about. Hopefully soon we'll hear new word about the Appelbaum case that took place in June '98.(read June 14th for more information)

Random Manson News

Marilyn Manson is on swedish channel 4 on the 3rd december 22:45 CET. It is an exclusive interview for the show "svart eller vitt" and I dont really know what he's going to talk about, but if he says something interesting i will report it to SLS. One thing they will ask him about for sure is the child pornogrophy he was asking for last time he was in Sweden.

Well, here in Brazil Manson wasn't very famous before the album Mechanical Animals. But now, The Dope Show reached number 1 in the brazilian's TOP 20 and now, in the brazilian MTV site, Manson is in first in a little contest, 300 votes in front of Aerosmith. He'll will be here in brazilian land in february. You can check out the contest and vote (it's in portuguese, but it's easy to vote) in Manson. Click here to vote.
Mtv News features a follow-up article from Allstarmag.com's news breif about Manson and Hole touring together...
Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love on tour together?

Such an unlikely, though extremely fashionable, pairing might actually be in the works, as Courtney Love told Los Angeles' radio station K-ROQ that Hole might go out on the road next spring with either Manson or Morissette.

Touring with Manson makes sense -- as both Hole and Marilyn Manson's new albums have droppeddown into the lower half of "Billboard's" Top 100 Albums, although Love said she had reservations about the effect of Manson's apocalyptic shows on her daughter, Frances Bean.

SPIN Online Speaks About Manson

SPIN Online features a large article on their AOL site, which does state that a criminal complaint has been issued and detectives are investigating. Marks makes a quick statement in the article while they close the story with Manson's Lunchbox lyrics... judge for yourself....

SPINonline Attempts to Maintain Some Objectivity in Face of Marilyn Manson's Scurrilous Behavior Towards Our Beloved and Respected Spin Editor. Spin's Executive Editor, Craig Marks alleges that bodyguards for Marilyn Manson choked and threatened him backstage, following Manson's tour-closing November 23 concert at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom. After attending the sold-out show, Marks was escorted backstage for a meeting by members of the rock star's entourage, including publicist Jenny Boddy, manager Tony Ciulla, and Nothing Records president, John Malm. According to Marks, once he was inside the singer's dressing room, Manson asked, "So, what's the deal?" When Marks responded that he wasn't certain what Manson was referring to, the singer allegedly began screaming: "I can kill you! I can kill your family. I can kill everyone you know!" Marks says that then two of Manson's bodyguards grabbed him by the neck and chest, cutting off his air supply. The bodyguards are quoted as saying, "From now on, when you deal with Marilyn Manson, you're dealing with us!" Manson yelled, "You have to learn to respect me!" Manson was believed to be upset that he wasn't on the cover of Spin's upcoming year-end issue. Marks was treated at a local hospital and has filed a criminal complaint against Manson and his unnamed guards. Detectives are still investigating the case.

Although Manson and his entourage are currently believed to be in Europe, he recently released an "official statement" regarding this issue (via his official website: http://www.marilynmanson.net ). It reads as follows: "I had a conversation with Craig Marks expressing I was tired of Spin's immature business behavior and the series of deals they had broken with me. I told him that I didn't care what he prints or weather [sic] or not I'm on the cover. I simply no longer wanted to work with him or his magazine that obviously has a lack of respect for musicians and their fans."

Marks responds, "That would be fine if any of it were true."

Editor's note: In the interest of maintaining some journalistic integrity, SPINonline will refrain from making any judgements against what many have termed the "hypocrisy" of Marilyn Manson's recent actions. Instead, we have chosen to illustrate the destructiveness of bullying behavior by excerpting lyrics from Manson's own 1994 Portrait of an America Family song "Lunchbox."

"Lunchbox" On we plow/The big bully tried to stick his finger in my chest/Tried to tell me, tell me he's the best/I don't really give a good goddamn/Cause I got my lunchbox and I'm armed real well/I got my lunchbox and I'm armed real well/I got my lunchbox and I'm armed real well"

I wanna grow up/I wanna be a big rock and roll star/I wanna grow up/I wanna be/So no one f***s with me

Got the pencils in my pocket try to put me down/Wanna go out gotta get down to the playground/Gotta throw down at the playground/I wanna go out

Next motherf***er gonna get my metal/Next motherf***er gonna get my metal/Next motherf***er gonna get my metal/Next motherf***er

Pow pow pow, pow pow pow, pow pow pow, pow pow pow

Manson Video "I Don't Like The Drugs" Delayed

Apparently the premiere date for Manson's second video "I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me)" won't be Saturday, December 6th; which was previously expected. I'm told by Interscope there were a few problems delivering/ setting up the video for that time frame... and with Manson now in Europe touring, there were mixed answers to when it should have met the set date. We assumed the video was not to premiere December 6th since the official Marilyn Manson website would have made a final statement long before now. As of today the video is in limbo, so check back in the next few days for the official word...

Random Manson News

Craig Marks [editor of SPIN magazine] has yet to address his statement regarding the alleged attack by Marilyn Manson's bodyguards. The papers and the magazines tell me that they are on their toes concerning the alleged attack. So expect an official statement from Marks and Interscope if not in the next few days then definitely by next week.

The December 7th issue of TIME magazine features a ridiculous blurb concerning Manson's alleged attacks and so forth on their "People" page. There was nothing extremely important to mention from the blurb, other than a few meaningless comments from the editor.

The recent reports about rapper Eminem collaborating with Marilyn Manson is leading to be true. I'll have further information about what was done in the next few days from Interscope. (There were more of important matters that we discussed, which I quickly slipped in... what's the deal with Eminem?)

I'll have some weird information about a nin report that came up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada later tomorrow....

We'll have our new message board up and running in the next day or so. We set up a test page, which is up and running great. When the final design is complete, there will be multiple band room boards to talk amongst your selves. Thanks for all the help four degreez.
