Danny Lohner Comments On Unreleased NIN Tracks & Small Tapeworm Update
Samantha Perez, an SLS viewer, caught VH1's the Rock Show last night, which they played Into the Void.
The host of the show, Cane, mentioned that Trent had originally wanted to record The Fragile in the traditional way with a band. However Cane said
that Danny Lohner stated that it was easier if Trent did things on his own. That's nothing new as far as news is concerned, but he also went on to
say that Danny said the unreleased Fragile tracks are amazing, but they won't ever see the light of day because Trent doesn't think they're good enough.
Cane then said "I would like to be the judge of that, because Trent is God. well, hes not THE god, but hes A god." Also this morning on The Return of
the Rock, host Tommy Lee talked about the guys wrapping up the BDO tour and returning home to the States. He mentioned that Charlie Clouser, whom he
referred to as "Chumpy" was going to continue work on the Tapeworm project and that it's expected to be released by summer. Into the Void was played afterwards.
Thanks a lot also to: MoK.
Fat Mike of NOFX listens to NIN
While browsing the NOFX Question & Answer page on
their Jon Belli
saw this question:
Hey Mike, I know you're big on Bad Religion but other than that what are your influences in music. Cuz you guys have a cool style and I was wonderin'
where it came from.
I mostly listen to punk rock bands. Here are some of my faves: Lillingtons, Dillinger 4, Jawbreaker, Refused, Descendents, Op Ivy, RKL, DI, Minor
Threat, Subhumans, and a bunch of FAT bands whom I can't say cuz I might hurt someone's feelings. I also like Weezer, Foo Fighters, NIN, Madonna,
Superdrag, and Supergrass. Kinda weird. -FAT Mike

Independant Movie Director Jon Reiss Includes Nine Inch Nails Music Video Background
Mike Cameron, an SLS viewer, was looking at a website for an independent movie called "Better Living
Through Circuitry" a documentary about the subculture of electronic dance music, raves, etc.. and on the info section... they mention the director
of the film and some of the things he's done. And his background includes music videos by Nine Inch Nails. Below is the paragraph:
Directing the film is underground cult filmmaker Jon Reiss, who recently completed his first narrative feature "Cleopatra's Second Husband" which
has screened at the Los Angeles Independent, Montreal, Hampton, Seattle, Sao Paulo and Bangkok film festivals. His past credits include a series of
documentaries on the notorious San Francisco performance art group Survival Research Laboratories. He has also directed infamous and celebrated
music videos, including clips for Nine Inch Nails, The Black Crowes, Diamanda Galas, among others
The films website is at www.technofilm.com and the page to this paragraph came from

Carson Daly Creative Video List
USA Today (Feb 3) in an article featuring Carson Daly listed his favorites for most creative video artists. Reads as follows:
In my opinion, historically, these ten artists epitomize innovation in the art of making music videos. They all have been pioneers in re-creating
and redefining the template for what is considered a breakthrough video.
In no particular order: Nine Inch Nails, Madonna, Beastie Boys, Radiohead, Janet & Michael Jackson, Beck, Prodigy, Busta Rhymes, Korn, R.E.M.

Nine Inch Nails BDO Televised Gig Cut Short On Channel V
Tonight, the Australian Cable TV music channel, "Channel V" aired Part One of their Big Day Out special, which was to include the full
performances of the biggest acts from the recent festival. "After much anxious waiting," writes Dopefinger,
an SLS viewer, "my friends and I were outraged with the coverage we saw of Nine Inch Nails."
Channel V showed the full sets of Grinspoon, Basement Jaxx, Foo Fighters, Primal Scream, Jebediah, and Blink 182- sets that ranged from
45 minutes to an hour in length. But when it came to Nine Inch Nails' set, they played only about 30 minutes worth of their hour and fifteen
minute set. (incidentally, Atari Teenage Riot was also abruptly cut short by fifteen minutes.)
"Being the main act that was being shown on the Big Day Out special tonight," explained Dopefinger, "We were extremely angry that Channel
V had cut Nine Inch Nails' performance so drastically while leaving woeful acts like Jebediah, and Blink 182 uninterrupted."
"I urge all Nine Inch Nails fans," explained Dopefinger, "who saw this indecent act of butchery (or "editing" as Channel V would probably call
it) to send angry and hateful emails demanding a replay in full of Nine Inch Nails to Channel V at this address:
vmail@channelv.com.au."
"It is a sure bet after all," adds Dopefinger, "that the Red Hot Chili Peppers' performance tomorrow night on Part Two of the Big Day
Out special will NOT be 'edited highlights."
Slipknot Drummer Comments On Marilyn Manson
In a recent interview on MetalUpdate.com they have an interview with Slipknot drummer Joey
Jordison (a.k.a #1) and he was asked some questions about Marilyn Manson:
MU: Absolutely. Let's shift gears for a second. What do you think of Marilyn Manson?
1: I have mixed opinions on the guy. It rules that I have mixed opinions because he brings that reaction out. Everyone has a reaction to
Marilyn Manson and most people dis him, but I'm not going to dis him. I'll tell you what, to do the things he has done, and get it out to
that many people, especially with MTV showing videos of pigeons takin' a shit on him . . .
MU: But is he doing crazy shit which happened to become successful, or is he successful because he's doin' some pretty crazy shit?
1: Hmmm . . . interesting question . . .
Christian Magazine Posts NIN Fan Comments After Fans Respond To Their Fragile Review
Ben Carter, 21, who lives in South Australia and recently tuned in to Nine Inch Nails, wrote us today
about something strange that happened to him this week. "I was one of the NIN fans who wrote to HomeLife Christian magazine about their "Fragile"
review." Please read our January 12th headline "The Fragile Attacked by Christian Magazine" for more info.)
"And, about 4 days after I wrote," adds Ben, "my letter was presented as part of an article in 'Christianity Today' magazine website." Ben continues,
"I am a Christian person myself who finds that Trent can really get across deep stuff about life in a way I can't always feel free talking about at
church, since it seems to not be considered 'nice' or 'polite' conversation."
E! Online Lists Natural Born Killers Soundtrack #10 of the Top Ten Movie Soundtracks
E! Online lists the "Natural Born Killers" soundtrack as #10 of the top ten movie soundtracks
here. Below is what they had to say in their article:
Oliver Stone's celebration of random sex and violence is flashier than an exhibitionist support group, but Trent Reznor's soundtrack managed to outshine it.
Instead of simply cramming source music into convenient gaps in the dialogue, the Nine Inch Nails' mastermind took the music out of its background
role and wove it through the movie's narrative, taking scenes that would otherwise have been gratuitous displays of alternately half-baked and
overcooked celluloid and transforming them into magically surreal cinema.
Even without the visuals, the snippets of conversation and unusual juxtapositions (notably a collision between Qawwali master Nusrat Fateh Ali
Khan and Goth scream queen Diamanda Galas) create startling new contexts for familiar songs by artists ranging from Patsy Cline to Dr. Dre. A
powerful album in itself, but to appreciate fully Reznor's killer handiwork, sit through the flick.

Random Nothing News
IN St. Louis, MO after the RAMS Super Bowl victory, the local FOX channel was playing highlights from every RAM game in the 1999-2000 season,
and played "Just Like You Imagined" & "Into The Void" in the background throughout the whole highlight reel.
Recently 94.9 WZTA a radio station in Miami, FL conducted a band of the 90's
poll on their website here.
Marilyn Manson, and NIN finished 5th and 6th. Over the weekend the same poll was conducted over the air with callers deciding who would
win the battle of the hour. In that poll NIN finished third losing to Metallica who won the both contests. "I'm not certain how Manson fared,"
explained Jorge was listened in, "but I know they did not make the "Elite Eight." Those who did.. Korn,
Limp Bizkit, Guns N' Roses, Alice in Chain, 4th: Nirvana, 3rd: NIN, 2nd: Pearl Jam, 1st: Metallic.
Today on MTV's "scream3tv'" to promote scream 3 they played the intro to "we're in this together " when Courtney Cox was introduced.
"I was watching the game show on MTV, WebRIOT for some odd reason, writes ChesleStar, "yesterday, I'm
Afraid of Americans was featured then today Closer was featured." ChesleStar didn't catch any of the "I'm Afraid of Americans" questions but did
get the closing question for Closer. "It was 'what magazine rated Trent Reznor one of the sexiest men in rock in 1994', "needless to say the answer
was Playboy," writes ChesleStar. "I'm pretty sure you can still download today's game online."
On the new MTV show, senseless acts of video, a clip of Were in this Together was played in the background just before a stunt bike rider took off
for a huge jump, simulating the bike jump in the bare-naked ladies video.
Greg Wolgast, an SLS viewer, wrote us to explain, "I played Gran Turismo 2 recently (which is the
absolute best racing game ever) for the Playstation and I noticed that Charlie Clouser's Dragula (Rob Zombie) remix is one of the songs that
plays while you race!"
The other day Mark, an SLS viewer, was watching the UK channel ITV and 'A Warm Place' was the background
music used when they advertising a TV program called 'This Is Personal'.
George Brake, an SLS viewer, was watching TV, and the program he watched featured an advertisement for a
program to come on later that night about the Yorkshire ripper, which they aired "A Warm Place" in the background...

In the new edition of 'Spawn' (#91) there's a mention of Trent. A goth girl is talking to a guy with a pentagram tattoo on his chest and wearing
all black and says, "Like I'm impressed. Mister Psycho Gloom dude. Even Trent Reznor doesn't dress like that anymore."
Thanks to: jupiter_doll.
