Tuesday,
January 16th, 01 - 4:00 pm EST Jose's local rock station 94.9 Zeta, mentioned that Dick Clark was a bit scared about what Marilyn Manson was going to do at the American Music Awards. They ran an audio clip saying the Dick Clark "did not know what to expect from the Manson performance, but that he is a professional and expected him to "behave" during his performance." The canadian based band econoline crush sampled a portion from Sin by Nine Inch Nails. "On their '94 release 'affliction' there's a song called "blunt" which cointains a sample from "sin" by nine inch nails...this is kinda old news but its non the least interesting for some..." Thanks to: Broken64. The National Post (Canadian newspaper) ran the following very brief NIN reference about the Republican inauguration: "The official party begins with a show featuring Puerto Rican songster Ricky Martin, who plans to croon "The Cup of Life" despite screams of outrage from the hit song's writer, Robi Draco Rosa. "This is a betrayal of everything that every Puerto Rican should stand for", sputtered Mr. Rosa, who was described in Entertainment Weekly as a "Che Guevara-meets-Trent Reznor poet-punk." Thanks to: Rev Wolf Cinemaniacs, the somewhat poorly-executed film site, operates a "shrine" devoted to the old Robert Redford film, The Quiz Show, based upon a 1950's quiz show called "Twenty-One." the author of this tribute mentions the fact that the contestants on these shows (before it was revealed that they were literally being fed the answers) were considered role models to all who watched. The author then goes on to mention how poor a job our new role models are doing: "Now Jeopardy contestants are 'geeks' and our new role models are crappy Atlanta Braves players and Trent Reznor." Here's the link for the rest of the tribute, which, thankfully, leaves Mr. Reznor out of the picture. Thanks to: deadbyedon. [ Return To News ]
