Vrenna Underwater

Vrenna co-produces the forthcoming Underwater album, this from mtv...

Former Nine Inch Nails drummer/programmer Chris Vrenna is co-producing the forthcoming Underwater album, titled "I Could Lose," due out in January on Risk Records.

The group's debut album will contain 10 tracks, five of which feature additional programming by Vrenna -- "The Music," "I've Been Thinking Lately," "Stories I Made Up," "Red," and "Everything You're Dragging."

The ex-Nine Inch Nails member -- whose new band, Tweaker, recently inked a deal with Almo Sounds -- became a fan of Underwater shortly after an A&R representative at Risk Records turned him on to the four-piece band.

Vrenna tells MTV News of his introduction to the group, "I decided to get involved with Underwater because of the beautiful music and the personnel involved. I saw them play in Atlanta and thought that as a computer-based band, they actually performed well onstage. I felt the music translated well with their live show and that is rarely seen."

As for the album, Vrenna says, "I think the album turned out beautiful. It's very dramatic and human and both the band and the label are extremely happy with it."

Also involved with the project is engineer, mixer, and remixer, Critter, who's previously worked with such acts as Filter, Liz Phair, the Cure, Marilyn Manson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Vrenna's former group, Nine Inch Nails. In addition to mixing the Underwater album, Critter is also currently working in the studio with Guns N' Roses as a programmer.

Also, this month will be a match between Garth Brooks vs. Marilyn Manson and Fiona Apple vs. John Popper on Thursday, July 30th.

Zim Zum Left Marilyn Manson

I thought of this as a rumor and didn't post anything till this was true.. its now confirmed from mtv news.

Marilyn Manson has replaced guitarist Zim Zum with John Lowery, apparently snatching the guitarist from the jaws of David Lee Roth. Lowery is best known for co-writing and playing with Rob Halford's beleaguered Two, but he also appears on the new David Lee Roth album and was widely expected to tour with Roth in the near future. "Metal Edge" editor Geri Miller confirmed Lowery's involvement with Lowery over the weekend.

Lowery most logically came to the attention of Manson through his tenure with Two, who is also signed to Nothing Records. Two made their debut on the label earlier this year, but Halford's switch from heavy metal maven to industrial tycoon did not fare well, at least not with the live crowd - tours in both the States and Europe were cut short due to an apparent lack of interest.

Roth, meanwhile, has now lost both of his much-heralded hot shots. Guitarist Michael Hartman, who also contributed to the DLR Band album, left last month citing creative differences.

Zim Zum joined the Manson band just prior to their 1996 album "Anti Christ Superstar" replacing Daisy Berkowitz (aka Scott Michael Putesky, now with Jack Off Jill). Rumors of his pending split with Manson had been circulating for weeks.

Zombie's Date Album

Once I find out exactly what songs Clouser contributed to, I'll see about some audio... because we knew he was on there as well as Danny Lohner- but what exactly?

hey I just read about the new white zombie album coming out on august 25 titled "Hellbilly Deluxe". Scott Humphrey is co-producer of the album with Rob Zombie and Charlie Clouser also has made some sort of contribution to it. "Dragula" is set to be the first track to hit the radio sometime soon.

Pi - Clint Mansell Score

Kraw was invited to a release party featuring Clint Mansell and brought us some scans of the invitation...

I received an invite for the "Pi" (symbol unavailable) soundtrack release party at the viper room in LA on the night July 14th. Clint Mansell was the featured DJ. I don't know if this was an exclusive thing or what, but Unfortunately, i didn't get to go so i don't know how the thing was.

Basically "Pi"is an independent film about a mathematical genius who goes insane because he figures out too much, I think it won best direction at sundance. Clint Mansell scored the film. the soundtrack is being put out this tuesday by Thrive records (warner/electra/atlantic) so its not on nothing. The record release party, however, was sponsered by Formula and listed Clint as a nothing recording artist.

For more info there is a nice webpage at pithemovie.

Thanks a lot to: kraw.

I believe that Interscope was closed yesterday, no one picked up so I could ask about the Mtv issue... I'll try again on Moneday, a weekday.

I would have updated a lot sooner... but Miller's domain seemed to be down again. I hope this doesn't happen anymore...

Jared and I have been working hard over there at SLS... We plan on working just as hard at SLS as we do here to get everything ready by the time the album comes out... We have some big plans...

Pick Up Your Posters

Those interested in getting your very own poster of the one I have above advertising Manson's September release, you can find some here...

You can pick up your very own copy of the Manson Promo Poster like the one you have for free at Borders Books. Since Borders is full of pussies they won't put up the manson posters and will give them away free.

Border's is a giant bookstore... don't ask me how many there are or where they are... but I'm sure you can find these promo's at a lot of other places... I have some more promo's coming to me in the mail later.

Mtv Gossip on 1515

I'm calling Interscope this afternoon to be on the safe side... but their information is more of a personal "thought" of Kurt Loder's.. you tell me, read below....

I was just watching mtv news and they had an update of some new albums coming out. nin was featured and at the end kurt loder slipped in something like "...not until January", pertaining to reznor's "quote": "[you know me, if i dont have something to say, im not gonna say it]." maybe they screwed up (i wouldn't be surprised), but lets hope they did... keep up the great page

After all, in the new Raygun Interview - Trent said Fall and that was released THIS week, which Interscope said mid-November to me in June... so chances are... Mtv could be spreading rumors . So who's telling the truth? Trent, Mtv or Interscope? I'd rather go with the people who are workiing with the album than thoughts of Mtv's! Also Mtv has already said that Alanis Morrisette was to contribute vocals ( read here from a few months back ) to the album saying they got this from SPIN which was never in any of their issues. We all know how Trent doesn't appreciate Alanis, so how could that be true? Bottom line... I'm calling Interscope just to be on the safe side... it appears after this, Mtv is not one to be trusted!

Thanks to: abdul and scottsk.

NIN Tid-bits

A few random facts pertaining to nin...

I just thought you might want to know that Hurt was played on Letterman on Thursday night. It was played at the beginning of a commercial break and could be heard when the show started again. It was during an interview with Anthony Hopkins and it seemed like Paul Shaffer - the piano guy - really enjoyed playing it : Dave even started to hum along

On the July 16 episode of the new mtv show "Sifl & Olly" they had their rock trivia question: Which rock star had the highest GPA in their collage? The answer was Trent Reznor but in parentheses at the bottom it said that it was a lie. Probably because Trent quit collage after only a year, who knows?

Thanks to: ashley and mike.

Sorry for the news being down for a few hours yesterday, Miller received some new IP addresses, but they were in use by someone else allowing us no connection to either of the sites.

I'll have the information of the Mtv issue by the afternoon, but I've never called on the weekends.. so.. more later.

Promo Distribution

Some people have been writting my source about the validity of the 'Manson Promo Banner' at the top of the page. Well it was given to him on Tuesday by his rep from UNI (who distributes Interscope/nothing) which he passed to me.

Our rep told Weathermen that they will be passing some promos over to us very soon. Weathermen will be working with us through both Manson's and Nine Inch Nails' new releases and will be contributing the latest information. I should be obtaining some posters, what ever the case- to scan and promote in the next few days/weeks. Around end of September or early October I'll be getting NIN's promos... to do the same....

Tom Waits Information

We did some research to find out what Tom Waits old genaric music style that Trent spoke of in the Raygun interview would be like, so that we could wrinkle out some of the questions that's been coming in...

Trent comparing his new work to Tom Waits (I'd assume that Trent is thinking of Wait's work specifically on the Island label... he used many exotic instruments...composed work that only an orchestra could play...liked off beat rhythms...just the kind of stuff Trent has discussed.

Wait's album '
Swordfishtrombones' -an album that matches Trent's desciptions of new nin work more than any other of Wait's work, is generally thought of as one of the best albums of the 80s -intersting stuff, have a listen some time if you haven't already).

I'd imagine that at least one of his former record labels has at least some info on him (as far as I can remember, he worked with two labels: Asylum Records and Island records...his period at Island being the one where most of his music sounds similar to what Trent is describing his to be like).

Those who are interested in learning more of Tom Waits past work can visit this very unique website on the man : Tom Waits Digest.

Thanks for the help: jgl.

Nine Inch Numan

Nothing spectacular, but word spoken of Trent's Cover of Gary Numan's Metal... in Wednesday's Kerrang issue.

There was a time, not long ago, when Gary Numan was a figure of fun. But not any more. The one-time techno guru has suddenly become godlike in industrial circles, and is much in demand. He recently duetted with Marylin Manson onstage in LA; now Trent Reznor, the coolest man on Planet Rock, has come out of hiding to have his photo snapped with Gazza. The reclusive Reznor recently recorded a version of Numan's 'Metal' and was keen to get his reaction. We've no idea whether it got the thumbs up. But one thing we can say is that Trent should perhaps lay off the pies..."

If anyone has a scanner over there that has this issue please submit it, thanks. =)

Thanks to: mikro.

I edited my "Nine Inch Numan" headline with the source of the quote. Funny how I forgot to name the magazine.

I'll have more news later this evening since its early....

Raygun Interview Online

Well everyone here it is, 30% of our questions have been answered. Its an interview we've needed for a long time. It talks about a lot of issues... here are a few headlines from the interview... which you can read by clicking her e.

.... Right now, I'm looking at 45 songs and trying to work my way through-and that's after weeding through- to the ones where: "That has to be on the record." Pretty soon it was: "It has to be a double CD now.....

.... It's a lot slower. And sparser. And that doesn't mean happier or full of ballards, because it certainly isn't that. But there's a lot of organic instruments....

.... [ The Perfect Drug ] Its nothing like that. In the context of doing a song for a movie, that was just kind of thrown together in two weeks experiment.....

.... Cube and I worked on a Bowie remix a bit, but I'm planning on having him involved on at least one thing on this record and possibly another thing for nothing records...

.... It'll probably be done by the end of the summer and come out sometime in the fall....

.... Its been fun. It got me back on track, because I'd do something and I'd realize, "I do enjoy this." That's why I was in it in the first place....

There it is everyone... I'm going to go soak my hands now...

Thanks so much to: kraw for the scans of the magazine..

Trent On Da Phone

Interesting information... Can't say much of this... but I posted it because, well why not?? Anyways... one of those major tidbits of the day... not really "news" to speak, but 'fun' filled facts. eh.

i have some exiciting news (or at least exciting for me): my good friend kelli talked to the Trent Reznor on Monday! She works at a pager/ beeper service thing (im not gonna give away the name, because who they talk to is supposed to be confidential and im not gonna get her fired), and her work also patches people into doctors offices and other stuff (i have no idea why, i dont really care either). so Trent called in (she said she was connecting him to a travel agency), and kelli was like "i know that name from somewhere. are you in a band (kelli's not into my music, shes a little alterna-rap-crap chick)?" and he said "yeah, nine inch nails" and then she said "my friends listen to that crap". (--- she insulted Trent (she didn't mean to), but Trent didnt hang up or yell at her (like i would have), he just laughed. anyways, i thought this was a cool story, which brings up two things:

1. he doesn't give a shit if you dont like his music AND (the cool one)
2. he called a travel agency. where's he going? to record somewhere else, or to fly some new people in? hmm?

anyways, thats all of my worthless information, btw. your page fucking rocks. i luv it. keep up the good work.

Thanks to: eryk.

Plug Review

There was a quick review on plug as part of a new wave of Urban and electronic on CDnow. here's part of the review

Luke Vibert Big Soup (MoWax / FFRR). Luke Vibert's (aka Wagon Christ, Plug) debut album on the ever esoteric headz label, MoWax, is an eclectic and peculiar hybrid of kitsch film snippets, downtempo mutant jazz, abstract hip-hop, drum 'n' bass and exotica. Vibert creates an intriguing soundtrack for the approaching millennium that is sublime, infectious and experimental "Reality Check", "No Turn Unstoned", "Stern Facials" and "Space Race" are the best examples of this. However, the album does become quite tedious in its attempts to be too futuristic and groundbreaking.

Here are the scans of the advance copy that comes in a book about the size of the old cardboard CD packages which is set up like a children's story entitled "how we quit the forest". Curve and Trent?

Well it appears that 'Curve' who Trent has done remixes for them in the past would like to work with him again. This excerpt from the July issue of Rockpile magazine on page 23.

"Several tracks from 'Come Clean' are due for re-construction by remix artists the pair respects and admires. Halliday and Garcia hope to have TRENT REZNOR weave something out of "Dirty High." Both the album's first and second singles have already been re- thought........"

Trent Spotlighted Along With Other Artists

Trent among othe bands are featured in this months special edition of Columbia House Music Magazine...

There is a small inset photo of Trent Reznor on the Columbia House Music Magazine this month, in the Magazine Special Edition. This issue is called Road Trip and throughout the magazine certain groups are spotlighted as to which section of the country they came from.

Trent Reznor is spotlighted on page 9 with his photo under the City, Cleveland, Ohio. It reads:

"Back in the '70's comedians used to cast Cleveland as the middle of the nowhere. Not anymore. Nowadays the Ohio town is a bustling music haven and home to the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame (check out Janis Joplin's Porsche). Home of Devo, TRENT REZNOR and the respected fanzine Alternative Press....."

On page ll, in the Florida spotlight section, is mention of MARILYN MANSON with a small inset photo:

"There's a lot more to Florida than Disneyworld. Home to both MARILYN MANSON and Jimmy Buffett, the Sunshine State has a very diverse and exciting music scene......."

Thanks again to: crystal.

Lohner Not All That He Should Be

New information pertaining to Dany Lohner's contribution to Zombie's "solo" album.... according to the zombie666 news page... this is just a snipped portion only pertaining to Lohner...

... Contrary to previous reports, Lohner will only be credited with additional guitars and for writing one song (which was not included in the final cut). Tommy Lee is credited with additional drums, on which I would assume to be Living Dead Girl. There is no Ramone on the album. A few other artists were brought out to play, but apparently didn't make it for Rob. The full title of the Solo Effort will be "Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 tales of cadaverous cavorting inside the spookshow international". The Cd booklet will be 24 pages of full color, and include the same pic of rob as the cover as seen on the promo sticker (The Walmart version will apparently have the X on Rob's head deleted). It will also feature a portrait of Rob by the Famous Monster's Artist.

Thanks a lot to: rorschach.

Rasputina Album with Good Thoughts

Some information about the Vrenna produced album...

The Rasputina album definately has much more of a vrenna/nin feel to it than their first album. In many of the songs the drums or drum machine is strongly present and the Cellos are sometimes made to sound a lot like nin-treated guitars. The advance copy comes in a book about the size of the old cardboard CD packages which is set up like a children's story entitled "how we quit the forest". I'm not sure if this book version is gonna be a limited edition thing or what, as it would not easily fit onto a typical cd rack.

I should have scans of this later today...

Thanks a lot to: kraw.

12 Rounds Album Scan - Review

Here is the cover scan of the new 12 Rounds album. I know what you all are thinking.. how many damn cd's do they have? Well this is their album "my big hero", the last set of scans I received was their first single "Pleasent Smell", the first set of scans was thier "Promo."

I've had a while to listen to the 12 rounds CD now and have really gotten to enjoy it. With the exception of maybe Plug, 12 Rounds sounds less like nin than any other band on nothing. Besides there being a female singer, the album wasn't produced by trent (he's only mentioned casually in the thank yous). The songs on the album are really diverse among themselves, but equally good. "Sunshine" is unlike anything else on the album and currently one of my favorites. Although they can slip by unnoticed beneath the soothing sound of Claudia's voice, the lyrics can be very dark and twisted.

Thanks again to: kraw.

I have information coming in today or tomorrow concerning Sean Beaven's interview from EQ about Manson, NIN and other bands.

Industrial Nation Theory

I stand corrected on somthing interesting, which is pretty old for those who buy bootlegs- and well this is big news to me and quite a few of you because- its come up a lot at many online magazine websites... and on my email... anyhow there might just have been a demo called "Industrial Nation" but most of us never knew about it under that name, but one other; "Purest Feeling"....

As the story goes, Trent's initial demo tape that he sent to everyone was made primarily by himself at the Right Track studios in Cleveland. He sent it all over the place and sent a few copies to producers (I think he sent them copies after he got signed to try to get them to produce the tracks). I read an interview with someone, I believe Adrian Sherwood, where he said that when he heard the demo tape he was really shocked because it was such a complete idea and the overall quality of the demo was fantastic, which makes it pretty safe to say it's probably the tape everyone has passed around forever with these trax on it.

For the most part, the tape is like an early, more poppish version of "Pretty Hate Machine" but missing a few key trax and with a few bizarro songs that didn't make the final cut. A bootleg release of it is called "Purest Feeling" (which is where the name comes from, although it's probably inaccurate) and the sound is incredible! A lot of people speculate it may have come directly from a DAT of the demo. The DAT story would also explain a few of the weird sound errors in some of the songs, but they're very minor details and don't screw the tape up.

Here are the tracks that are included on the "Prest Feeling" bootleg... featuring new (to some people) songs, lyrics, and mixes... I've included MP3 to all the tracks.. so click the links to download your own personal "nin demo"....

1. Intro
2. Sanctified (original)
3.
Ma ybe Just Once
4.
The Only Time (original)
5.
Kinda I Want To (originial)
6.
That's What I Get (original)
7.
Pur est Feeling
8.
Twist
9. Down In It

They're also definately demos, but really good ones. For the most part, the songs are all pretty complete apart from "Kinda I Want To" which is pretty funny (There's another mix of that version floating around. I think it's one of the Adrian Sherwood demos, or at least what everyone assumes to be the Adrian Sherwood demos.). There are tapes of NIN performing "Maybe Just Once", most notably the Video Bar show in, I believe it was, Texas.

Back to the name "Industrial Nation" though... I don't know what's up with the title. I've never heard the demo called "Industrial Nation", but there is always a chance that's what it was called. It's safe to say it's more an album than a demo since it's so complete. Very professional! The demo is pretty easy to get your hands on. There is a lot of weird stuff from that period floating around.

This finishs a big peice of the puzzle that I've been stuck on for a while... because of all these songs that were never officialy released, but on a bootleg full of different lyrics, and mixes and new tracks.. so it's SAFE to say on my behalf that "Industiral Nation" is the "Purest Feeling" bootleg.

Thanks a lot to: david for the report and to evol's nin website for usage on his mp3 tracks.

New Fragile News and a Recap of the Events

I've decided to gather all the Fragile news that's consisted among the many months of SLS since we have slightly new information concerning the album.

It was rumored to be that the new NIN album would be all I "instrumental." (read May 20th & May 17th news) Since February 8th through the 12th Adrian Belew told us that he had to play some of the most aggressive guitar playing he's done in a while and at the time none of which had vocals. He added also that he had to play cello, mandolin, lap steel, and string bass for the time that he was there. Trent stated saying that yes he will be using his computers to mix the albums [of course]. (read June 11th news)

So with that... I've decided to go into some detail on the "new" nails instruments. Just picture these things in a concert. You need Real Audio to hear the clips... so get it here if you care to listen...

A Cello (click link for image) is a string instrument (with four strings) that is bigger than a violin and is lower in tone. It is rested on the floor while played. To listen to a sound byte of what one sounds like click here : Cello Sound

A
bas s (click link for image) is a string instrument that is the largest and deepest-toned instrument of the violin family having a range of 3 octaves. To listen to a sound byte of what one sounds like click here : Bass Sound

A
Lap Steel (click link for image) guitars is a six string steel guitar that is known for Rock, Blues, Country and Hawaiian music. To listen to a sound byte of what one sounds like click here : Lap Steel Sound (wav format)

As I told you all before last month (June 9th)...

The Fragile is slated for a mid-November release. So was Manson's but since Ginger Fish's illness they have time to catch up on where things they need to. Interscope wants to have the album ready for the "Christmas Planning Schedule.

Now for the slightly new Fragile news...

I just got done watching a show called "2 Rock" on the German music channel "Viva 2" and they showed "Closer", after which they had an interview with Two. After telling the well-known "Me-and-Trent-at-Mardi-Gras-three-years-ago -story", he and the interviewer talked about the new NIN album and Rob said that as far as he knew, the music was all done and Trent was now finishing up writing the lyrics. Which means that not only is the album close to completion, there WILL be lyrics.

And also don't forget...

Trent has said that he is going be using different vocalists in the backround as well as musicians for many real and exotic instruments. So that could mean why Mtv reported (Read March 22nd News) that Alanis Morrissette has contributed vocals to the album and also David Bowie's keyboardist Mike Garson who is also said to play on the forth coming album. (Read March 28th News)

Thanks a lot to: Omri for the lyric news.

That's all the news more later today.

False Information From UBL

This has been getting around a lot... but its completely wrong. Pretty Hate Machine was the FIRST Nine Inch Nails' album...

This is a quote from the "All-music guide"- page on Trent Reznor:

"He left that band in 1988 to form his own band, Nine Inch Nails. [..] They earned a reputation in 1990 with their second album, Pretty Hate Machine. [..] (Their first album, Industrial Nation, was not as successful and was only recognized by a few.)"

Those who are interested... have your laugh and move on. It ain't real.

NIN Referenced in Small Soldiers

A cool nine inch nails tid-bit for those seeing "Small Soldiers" that opened yesterday in the states...

In the new movie "Small Soldiers," there is a scene where the toy commandos are shooting at two people (the film's main character and his father) with a nailgun. As the people struggle to avoid the the barrage of nails, the little toy commando shouts "what's the matter, don't you like Nine Inch Nails?" and laughs. (this scene occurs shortly after one in which the commandos, having trapped their human victims in a house, blast spice girls music repeatedly as loud as they can in what is described as "psychological warfare." ha ha.)

I've been wanting to hear 'Tea Party' cover Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" and those who do too can later tonight...

I heard you wanted to hear the Tea Party sing Hurt, right? Well today you can! My local radio station is broadcasting EdgeFest (feat. Tea Party) live over the internet through RealAudio!

Tea Party is scheduled to play @ 9:00 - 9:50pm. To listen to the all day broadcast... Visit:

Rasputina Vinyl Promo Info

Slightly more information about the Rasputina remixes featuring Chris Vrenna...

I went to a karma the other day, and as I was walking out, I decided to check the free stuff crate. I found the vinyl promo thing for the olde headboard. I don't think I can upload the songs (I have a 14.4 modem and I don't have a turntable). I thought I could at least give some info about it.

There are 4 remixes, the glittered remix (vrenna/critter), the feathered mix (mass hystereo), the weathered mix (melora creager/dae bennett/mike viola), and the splintered mix (dae bennett/mike viola/).

Thanks to: tjludwig.

New Manson Album Info

Well this makes sense... When Interscope told me that the slated months for Marilyn Manson along with Nine Inch Nails' new album was for a mid-November... Manson was still to have a European tour. So since Ginger Fish's illness... the band had time to catch up allowing the album a earlier release... This from Alternative Press Online...

The new Mariyln Manson album, Mechanical Animals, is slated for release in mid-September. The band recently canceled a European tour because drummer Ginger Fish has contracted mononucleosis and is under doctor's orders to rest. The cancellation allowed the band to return to the studio to make further tweakings on the album.

Thanks alot to: sline and kevin.

Skinny Remix Album Date Featuring Vrenna

Information from Mtv Online for those interested about Skinny Puppy's remix album featuring Chris Vrenna, Josh Wink, GLU and more... There's now a release date.

The much anticipated remix album from industrial legends Skinny Puppy finally has a release date. A spokesperson for Nettwerk Records confirms the record should be out October 20.

The latest notables to be added to mix include the Deftones, KMFDM and Puppy vocalist Nivek Ogre. Orge's appearance will be in tandem with his WELT mate Mark Walk.

The Deftones have chosen the song "Spasmolytic," KMFDM is taking on "Addiction," and Ogre and Walk are bringing life back to "Smothered Hope."

As previously reported by MTV News, they join God Lives Underwater, Josh Wink, Chris Vrenna, Adrian Sherwood, Autechre, Rhys Fulber and Ruby, among others.

Meanwhile, Ogre and Walk are also set to resurrect WELT, which never did see the light of day thanks to problems with the label, American Recordings. And Ogre has also recently teamed up with Martin Atkins to form a project they're calling "Ritalin." They've just released an album titled "Bedside Toxicology."

Skinny Puppy recorded eight albums including their full length debut in 1985, and 1996's "The Process," released after the band disintegrated.

Martin Atkins Speaks Much Of His Past Work

In the new 'Modern Drummer' magazine- either July or August Martin Atkins speaks much of Skinny Puppy, Ministry and Nine Inch Nails...

In the magazine Modern Drummer (either July or August issue, i'm not sure which it was) there is an interview with Martin Atkins (did some drummingon Broken as well as cowrote the original version of suck). He talks about drumming for various bands like Ministry,Skinny Puppy, and a little on NIN. I'm not sure on the exact details but I just thought I'd let you know.

If anyone has comes across this magazine, please let me know how much information is given about Nine Inch Nails or any other band that I listed.. thanks.

Letterman's Top Ten Countdown

This is a rerun from months back...

Manson's Golden Years

Well it appears that someone has gotten a hold of Manson's yet to be released cover of "Golden Years" by David Bowie that is to be featured on the opening credits of the film, Dead Man On Campus. Which is also the forthcoming MTV-funded film. This is to be OFFICIALLY released in September 98.

The soundtrack, which is the first film project overseen by Dust Brothers Mike Simpson and John King, also features tracks from Blur, Supergrass, Propellerheads and The Chemical Brothers.

"Dead Man On Campus" is a dark comedy about the lengths college students will go to in order to pass their grades.

Those who care to download the 'Golden Years' cover in "wav" format zipped at the address given here: "www.gagfish.com" should do it now before something happens to it if you know what I mean.

Spin Speaks of BB

This is no more than just a quick nice review snipped of Trent's contribution vocals to Wink's "Black Bomb" located in this Month's Spin Magazine.

..... On the much-anticipated follow-up, Herehear, Wink puts a few more quarters in the jukebox- which dispenses jazzy drum' n' bass, mutant hip-hop, rocktronica, electro-soul- and wisely leaves the prose to the pros. (Like Trent Reznor, whose cameo on "Black Bomb" is almost as funk-lusting as "Closer.")

Spin rates Wink's new album "7" from a scale of "1-10".

Thanks to: grant.

Rasputina Speaks of Vrenna's Work

On my yesterday's update- I gave you all the mp3 address to down load Chris Vrena's new remix of Rasputina's "Olde Headboar".. here's some information concerning Vrenna's work with Rasputina from Allstar.

There was none of that on How We Quit the Forest, which comes out Aug. 4 on Columbia. That's because the album's co-producer -- ex-Nine Inch Nails man Chris Vrenna -- and recordist/ mixer Critter (Filter, the Jesus Lizard, Ministry) "got" what Rasputina is all about. "He was very organized and hyper, and was good at having an overview," says Creager of Vrenna, who also contributed live drumming and programming to the album. "A lot of it is really from my demos; I'd have the same rhythms, but in a shitty drum machine. So he would elaborate on that with some nice samples, but some of the rhythm stuff is totally him. I had all these great sample sources, but he makes better patterns out of them."

Also- I've recieved reports from a few readers that the file does not download correctly. Please write to the source of the file. It's not my upload... its theirs. All I can say is that mine download worked and sounded correctly... go figure...

Bad Review of Trent's Contribution

I'm just inlcuding the snippet of the review from the new August Alternative Press issue, because for a review of an album they had a lot to say about Trent... but this is what is said about Trent's all mighty apearance...

... Of course, it wouldn't be a Wink album if there weren't some nods to the dancefloor, and tracks such as the world wide smash "Are You There?" and "Sixth Sense" further demonstrate Wink's ability to create effective dancefloor stompers with memorable vocal hooks. But there's also a lot here that seems forced. What's the point of bringing in Trent Reznor to sing on the cheesy hate anthem "Black Bomb (Jerry In The Bag)" other than to prove to small-minded NIN fans that Wink can also, like, get down and dirty in the same formulaic way that Trent can? "I'm On Fire" while pretty, also smacks a bit too much of Bjork, and "Simple Man" is an ill-advised foray into Big Beat territory.

I must say for AP speak of us as "Small Minded"; though I'm not crazy for the new Wink album. I do like the song over all... It has its let downs- but... for AP to speak of Trent's contribution... its something that I enjoy listening from time to time.

Thanks to: medazzler.

Lohner Replaced?

Oddly enough is Lohner getting replaced? Well a web site calling him self zombie666 says so with this...

News on the street is that Mike Riggs from Prong will replace Danny Lohner, who did the studio work, on guitars for Rob's tour.

Trent Graces the Cover of Circus

As you all know or have seen... Trent makes cover of Circus Magazine this month with quite a few pictures I'm told... anyhow... I don't have it here yet where I live so below is some detailed info of the mag, if not more on what's in the mag.

Not sure if you know this or not, but Trent is on the cover of the new "Circus" magazine (it's apparently yet another photo from the CMJ shoot) with a caption about "into the dark, tortured mind of trent reznor" or something like that. The article is pretty much what you'd expect from Circus - an overview of NiN, Trent's musical history, a bunch of jarbled paragraphs about how he's the icon of modern music and such without any real information given. And then of course there are quotes recycled from old interviews, a lot of outdated info (working with josh wink, listening to erykah badu, etc.), the usual stuff. No real new content, but it's a pretty long article and might be worth checking out. There are quite a few pictures as well - none of them are original of course, but there are a couple which aren't very common, and a full-page pin-up of him. There's also a drawing of Trent sent in by a reader.

If anyone could get me some scans of this... like the cover, and all the places where Trent's in it... let me know. I'd do it, but like I said... eh- Circus Magazine is hard to find around these parts...

Thanks a lot to: rob.

Its Final Vrenna On Almo Records

As we all know and have been following... Vrenna that studio, drop to you dead mixer has signed his name on the shoulders of Almo Records.... Reported from Allstar...

The ink is finally dry on Chris Vrenna's contract with Almo Sounds (home to Garbage, Ozomotli, and Gillian Welch). After weeks of discussions, the drummer/producer signed the contracts on Friday, according to his manger Jeff Antebi.

The longterm deal calls for two projects from Vrenna: the long-awaited from his essentially solo project Tweaker and a full band yet to be named and assembled. "Tweaker probably won't be like the demos he's done in the past few years. That was like Chris' little ambient thing, but it's going to be a more ambitious effort with some guest vocalists," says Antebi. "He's writing now for a January release."

As for the "band" project, Antebi says it will be some sort of rock-based outfit.

SLS Survey

I told you all yesterday that I was having some NEW problems with the new look and I've decided, sadly that I can't accomplish that goal because it would take extreme man hours to do such a massive task. So what I plan on doing is have ONLY a certain amount of updates on a page at a time. I've created a quick push button- VERY easy survey that takes less than say 20 seconds to fill out... So please if you would fill out your personal opinion by clicking "CLOSED" to vote in your thoughts. Thanks a lot. I'll close it tonight and I'll think it over by TOMORROWS update.. By then things will look good a nd the site will be fast and easy to operate till the end of... SLS... when ever that would be.

Massive work has begun on SLS again. New graphics are coming in.. with some new image maps and all. I took down ALL my Closure videos that I had online, because of someone ripping me off. I'll have them back online with some extra querks to go along the videos... I haven't gotten my video card in the mail, yet. So your guess is as good as mine... Once I get it... The Drink Procedure and Other Reports

I really don't want to do anymore reports on this because- there has been enough... but I thought I'd share these last 2 with those who care... Don't try this at home now, SLS is not responsible for any actions taken from the readers... or anyone else. =)

i saw your 2 reports on the absinthe, and thought i'd add in my two cents worth of information. since i found out that the drink in the perfect drug was absinthe i did a little research on it to find out where to get it and stuff because i wanted to try it. from the information that i got, there are 2 kinds of absinthe, one is just and alcoholic drink, but you can't get it in the united states, and the other is an alcoholic drink witha hallucinogen. the one with the hallucinogen (according to what i've learned not to say this is 100% correct, but its what i've read after a little research) anyway, the hallucinogenic one can't be made anymore. i guess the original root that was used to distill the liquor is extinct. the one they use now is called wormwood, and i have a recipe for all of those adventurous souls that want to try making it themselves, i'm going to do it one of these days, but i haven't gotten around to it yet. there was also another way, and the webpage i got this from said it tasted better, but it involved actual distillation, so i didn't save it. btw: this is the one that is just alcoholic, not hallucinogenic.

1 cup, vodka
1 teaspoon, crumbled wormwood
2 tablespoons, chopped peppermint leaves
1 piece, lemon peel, 3/4" x 2"
1/3 to 1/2 cup, sugar syrup

Procedure:

Steep wormwood in vodka for 48 hours. Strain out and add peppermint leaves and lemon peel. Steep for 8 days, strain and sweeten.

and another LONG report from a viewer... PLEASE NO more... I'm posting these because you all take the time to write me and these are VERY interesting.

Just a clarification on the Absinthe stories that have appeared over your news page (which kicks all ass, btw)... Absinthe is an alcoholic liquer made by the fermentation of an herb called wormwood (artemisia absinthium): this herb is poisonous and the resulting drink is, more or less, poisonous as well. Usual alcohol content for absinthe (called "absynthe" in America before it was banned or "la fee verte" in France, where it was most popular) is somewhere along the lines of 70 to 90 percent per volume. Some speculate that one of wormwood's active constituents - thujone, chemically similar to THC (the stuff in marijuana) - lends to the reported hallucinogenic properties of the resulting drink, although this substance is only present in trace amounts to less than one percent of the resulting fluid.

Absinthe was a very commonplace drink among artists and noblemen during the time of Van Gogh (who is said to have developed "absinthism", a rare form of alcoholism from its overconsumption). Its popularity in France was such that men would gather in cafes and such for what was called "L'heure verte" (the Green Hour), when everyone would indulge in the ritual. This involved the use of special absinthe spoons suspended above the elaborate glasses. One one place a sugar cube within the spoon and pour water into the fluid. This would precipitate the terpenes dissolved in the solution to emerge, changing the drink from crisp emerald green to a cloudy, milky white. (This is what Trent is doing in the Perfect Drug video). The drink is fantastically bitter (hence the ritual), but it is said to promote creativity and all the leading artists of the time drank the stuff. Its effects last about a week after the initial intoxication which is fast acting and long lasting.

The "absinthe substitutes" which you'll find online, involving mixing vodka, wine, alcohol-of-choice and wormwood essences do not work, and can be poisonous. The only "working thing" is the real thing, which cannot be found very easily anymore. It is legal and produced in Spain, but I am not sure if it is the *real* thing or one of the lookalikes. Pernod is a common place Absinthe lookalike, which is the same drink scrap the wormwood, scrap the "magickal" effects.

A quote comes to mind, "After the first glass you see the world as you want it, after the second glass you see the world as it isn't, but after the third glass you see the world as it is - and that is the most frightening thing of all". But, you know what they say: Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder.

Is There Really A Ban?

This is a quick report from a viewer of the "Autechre Ban" that was sent to me.... about yesterday's "nothing" update.

First of all, thanks for being a good source of NIN news.

I just wanted to say the following... I don't believe Nothing has the power to put a "ban" on importing anything. If anyone had the power, to keep the new Autechre album from being imported, it would be Warp, their label in Britain (their main label). That said, Warp has announced that the release of Autechre's latest album, apparently titled _LP5_, has been delayed. It was supposed to be released June 22, but due to artwork problems, was delayed until mid-July. Last I heard, the album was to be released simultaneously in the US and the UK.

Bunch of Tid-Bits

Just a few tid-bits that have been collecting here in the box today... thought I'd throw them in the updates to pay respect for everyone writting in...

Yl00 Radio Station played Head Like A Hole as Number 27 in their Top 300 Countdown today.

At the edge fest date in winnepeg, greenday started longview which has a very similair drum beat to the beutiful people. At that time Billi Joe put on a satan mask and sang the beutiful people a few times, then he threw the mask in the crowd and play longview.

The other day I was watching the movie POWDER and there's this scene somewhere in the beginning/middle of the movie where Jeremy is getting off the school bus and right behind him, getting off just as well, is some kid wearing the nin broken t-shirt. that's all.

I was just flipping around on TV (It's Sunday, it's 2:30 AM, and nothing's on), and as I switched, I heard Head Like a Hole! I immediately switched to the TV Guide station to see what I was watching. It was the movie "Prayer of the Rollerboys" (1991), and I heard "Head Like a Hole" during a scene at a dance (?). I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, so I'm sending this to you.

Thanks to: crystal, dornj, rocker and daredevil Credited in the order of the reports.

Closer on MTV Commercial

Just a quick tid-bit on Mtv..

Not all the interesting, but MTV has this new filler commercial with some weird indian-tribe guy meditating and laying on a bed of nails while listening to closer on his headphones.

I get my new video card in the mail on Monday and I'll broadcast the commercial for those who want to see it... when everything is up and running.

E! Channel Speaks of Trent

I thought I'd post this story again because some people assume this case a fake...

E! gossip mentioned the whole court thingy with Trent and that obsessed fan and the AOL account thingy. It opened with "Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails slapped a woman!..... with a lawsuit..."

NIN in July Issue of EQ

Allstar reports Sean Beavan speaks of Trent and Marilyn Manson on what it's like to work with them... He speaks of Manson's next album work...

In the upcoming July issue of EQ, a technical magazine for studio geeks, veteran sound engineer Sean Beavan reveals what it's like to work with people like Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson. Among other Manson dirt dished in the article, Beavan tells how Marilyn and Billy Corgan became friends (they met at a Pumpkins show), and he says that Marilyn always has plenty of mannequins and other replicas of real women in the studio with him. By way of a preview of the upcoming Marilyn Manson album, Beavan describes the new material as "very organic. This record's more like a cyborg, whereas the other records had no living tissue."...

Lets hope MAYBE some NIN is spoken much in the magazine...

Zombie's Album Named and Dated

Those who have been waiting paitently... Rob Zombie's Solo album which features Nine Inch Nails Danny Lohner, Scott Humprey and Charlie Clouser to be released August 25.

Rob Zombie: Hellbilly Deluxe, will be the name of Rob Zombie's upcoming solo album which WILL be released on August 25, 1998. The single, "Dragula" will be the first Rob Zombie track to be played on your nearest rock/metal station. The album was produced by Rob Zombie and Scott Humphrey (Nine Inch Nails). The members of the band are Rob Zombie (Vocals/Samples/Some mixing?), John Tempesta (Drums), Tommy Lee (Guest on Drums-This is not yet confirmed), Johnny Ramone (Lead Guitarist), Danny Lohner (Bassist/Guitarist), Charlie Clouser (Keyboards). Rob Zombie will be on tour starting this fall with the "Korn Family Values Tour" performing songs from his solo album Hellbilly Deluxe. Exact dates are unknown yet, but sometime around September he should start touring.

The funniest thing is how Rob Zombie states his album as a "solo" album when he has 4 people listed as band members... hmm... I thought the word 'solo' ment 1 thing/person.

Thanks a lot to: eddie.

Manson Covers Bowie Track for Soundtrack

There is a movie soundtrack to the forthcoming MTV-funded film 'Dead Man On Campus' which is due out in September. It features tracks from Blur, Supergrass, Propellerheads, The Chemical Brothers and MARILYN MANSON. Manson recorded a version of David Bowie's 'Golden Years' which will run over the opening credits of the film. Below is a snippet from the NME news report of this topic...

The most unlikely pairing on the soundtrack is MARILYN MANSON bassist Twiggy Ramirez and '60s model Twiggy, who team up on a twisted version of Dusty Springfield's 'I Only Want To Be With You'. The pair were put in touch with each other after Ramirez met a friend of the model backstage when MARILYN MANSON appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman in New York. Dead Man On Campus is a dark comedy about the lengths college students will go to in order to pass their grades.

Nothing Records has put an import ban on the new Autechre album

In a frustrating bit of Autechre news, i just found out that Nothing has put an import ban on the new Autechre album. No US distributers seem to be carrying the new album so i guess we'll have to wait until late summer for Nothing to release it domestically. It add insult to injury, Nothing will not be releasing a vinyl version of the album. Looks like we'll have to go out of the country to get the new Autechre album within a reasonable amount of time.

IAOA Cover

Since this was such a HIGH flood in my box of the viewers who went to this concert... I thought it was news worthy... here's what happened...

At the July 1st date of edgefest '98 in barrie ont. After the band 'The Tea Party' finished up their set (they were the closing band), they mentioned they had a special guest with them. At that point they had called out edwin (he used to be singer for 'I Mother Earth'), and they covered David Bowie's 'I'm Afraid of Americans' with edwin on vocals. Needless to say, the crowd sorta went nuts!

Australia Reports More of NIN Tour Rumor

I did a report about this the other day on June 25th about this subject... It's just a rumor and I can just say one thing, it won't happen... As or right now- its a rumor... and ONLY a rumor and should not be taken as ANYTHING else...

My name is Tim i am a big NIN fan from Australia, we have a big musical festival here in Victoria called The Big Day Out. In past years we have had bands like Fear Factroy and others, this year the Beastie Boys have been signed to play and Nineinchnails have been rumored to be one of the possible bands. I found this information in one of the Major newspapers in Australia.

Please no more reports of this UNLESS its been proven that NIN will not be in this package tour...

Nothing Record Band News

I thought this would be some big news for some Nothing Record listeners on here or else where...

Einstürzende Neubauten News Summer 1998

After long negotiations with Nothing Records our last album "Ende Neu" will finally be released in the US in late fall '98. A US tour will follow in December. As soon as we have dates we will inform you, or you can always check our website
http://www.icf.de/EN/.

Presently the band is already working on a new album, to be released in 1999. We also work on a live album recorded on the last European tour in 1997, possibly to be released simultaneously with the new studio album.

Due to legal problems with our first international label Some Bizzare (UK) most of our back catalogue is not available. If you find copies (of "Haus der Lüge", Strategies I +II", "5 auf der nach oben offenen Richterskala") they are probably distributed illegally. We hope to solve this problem as soon as possible and are sorry for any inconvenience.

All available records including our releases on our EGO-label as well as books, videos, T-shirts and other merchandising products can be ordered via our online-mail-order at
http://www.icf.de/EN/.

Thank you for your interest & loyalty.

Thanks to: mark.

Trent Number One!!

In England a new issue of Kerrang came out on Wednesday according to the source which runs an article called "100 Coolest Rock Stars". It appears Trent came Number 1, below is the written report from the issue... also slight info on November release of The Fragile...

More than anyone, Nine Inch Nails' mainman Trent Reznor deserves credit for the open-minded, eclectic and adventurous state of Planet Rock in 1998. In addition to shaping Marylin Manson's warped electro-goth vision and revolutionising the way movie soundtracks are assembled on 'Natural Born Killers', the Cleveland-born studio whizzkid is almost single-handedly responsible for breaking down the boundaries between rock and dance music. He has encouraged Luddite rock musicians to embrace technology by proving that dance beats can be as skull-crushingly intense as filthy riffs, that synths don't necessarily suck, and that computers arent the work of the Devil.

A self-confessed loner, Reznor was inspired by the disquieting electronic ambience of David Bowie's 1977 album 'Low' and Lou Reed's 1972 masterpiece 'Transformer'. He spent his early 20's raging with the machines, perfecting the art of perverting samples, programming beats and deconstructing conventional ideas of melody and tonality at Cleveland's Right Track studio.

In 1990, he released Nine Inch Nails' debut album, 'Pretty Hate Machine'. An awe-inspiring collage of grinding synths, scarring guitars and angst-filled 'tunes' chronicling bad trips, loveless sex and bleak moods, it peaked with the awesome streamlined rush of 'Head Like A Hole'- a mechanical masterclass in manipulating mood and dynamics. Following two incendiary, hate-filled mini-albums - '91's 'Broken' and '92's 'Fixed' - which veered perilously close towards unlistenable self-indulgence, Reznor's years in self-imposed isolation spat forth his master opus, 1994's 'The Downward Spiral'.

"All I know is I made a small-scale, personal, potentially ugly record that reflected how I felt," Reznor told Kerrang! after its release. One listen to the nihilistic thoughts contained within the album is enough to leave you in no doubt that at the time, its creators mind nust have been a terrible thing to taste.

A flood of wan NIN imitators have emerged in the four years since '... Spiral', but typically Reznor has moved onto another creative plane. In 1998, electronic rock's dark prince is taking on board techno, drum 'n' bass and experimental influences as he seeks to move the whole notion of hard-edged music one step beyond yet again. The next NIN album - working title 'The Fragile' - is scheduled for release later this year. "It has," says Reznor, "the sound of a stereo exploding."

If someone would, please get me some scans of this issue. It must contain some images of Trent. If it does not oddly- please someone get me a scan of the cover of the issue... I have yet to see this issue here in the states...

The True Taste of The Perfect Drug

Here's a follow-up from yesterday's TPD Hard Copy report from a viewer. Also I thought I'd throw some selected stills from the video to along with this report- to make it more- well, interesting... so please click the links provided with the report... thank you. =)

Well, this is just a plain comment on absinthe. Hell knows why but in most of the commentaries I have seen in your page and in similar they treat it as a drug. Well, in Spain (where I live) and in most Europe (as far as I know) is perfectly legal. It's just a plain liquor. Very high graduation in alcohol and green color yes, but just that. I have tasted it and god it was fucking awful. Wha t Trent Reznor was doing in the video is to dissolve (apparently) some sugar in the absinthe. I've been told this is done in order to make it tastier. If they used the sugar during the maceration of the liquor it would be wasted, but it can be dissolved in order to make it sweeter and easier to swallow. A friend got drunk with the stuff and he looked stoned, but it was just that it went pretty fast into his blood making him completely drunk. Hope this helps.

Anyways... That's that....

Thanks to: screwer.

Article NIN Mentions

In the new August l998 Issue, Spin- page 39 an article called New Wave Squares...

Gary Numan '80's Moment: The original man or astroman. '90's Setback: Anti-tech Numan is now cybergeek idol. Version 2.0: Back thanks to shoutouts from TRENT, Numan is doing first U.S. tour in l6 years.

Reference to NIN in the rather large article called The Rebirth of Loud, The Noise of Summer, page 88: excerpt about New Metal.....

New Metal delivers spandex-free hard-rock catharsis rhythmically attuned to the rap revolution. Like Beck and Cornershop, these bands have scavenged the remainder bins of hip-hop, hardcore, pop, industrial, and 90's rock revitalizers Nirvana and NINE INCH NAILS for their sounds and lyrics. It only seems natural that kids weaned on the multi-genre programming of MTV would respond.

Thanks to: crystal.

Like I said yesterday. I'll be gone all today. SO what is up now- is ALL the NEW news that I have to add... so, if there is ANYTHING important that needs to go up when I get home, when ever I get home. It'll be the first thing on my agenda... later everyone.

Old NIN Bus Driver?

Here's a personal tid-bit that a viewer sent in about, maybe a old connection....

i live near Cleveland, and the other day I went to my barber to get a haircut, and I had a nin shirt on. He's a retired guy who cuts hair in his spare time ( he's in his late 50's ). His barber shop is old fashioned, two chairs, one is in use, the other has his dog slouched over in it. I've been getting my hair cut there for a while, and when he saw my nin shirt, he asked about the band, and if I liked them. Then he told me that he used to drive the band and their mananger, Malm, to concerts in the 80's when they played in Cleveland. He asked about their whereabouts now and he told me they were all nice guys. I just thought that was cool, that my barber, of all people, drove for nine inch nails :)

thanks a lot: bereaO.

12 Rounds Interview

There is an new interview in the new August release of Alternative Press on page 26...

12 Rounds
Locate, Subvert, Implicate

Claudia Sarne doesn't shy away from the implications, however ugly. Ang it's hard not to not to think of those creepy, grainy photos of smiling high-schoolers who've just blown away a significant percentage of their classmates when one hears the name of her band, l2 Rounds.

Sarne has somewhat of a gift for creating distressing implications. "Put me in your juicer/Come drink me," she pleads on "Bovine," the creepy, grainy track from l2 Round's NOTHING RECORD's debut, My Big Hero. .........

"I'm not really into digital sounds--most of what we used were organic or organic-based," Ross says later from an outdoor restaurant. "My outlook is more a mix of traditionalism and, sort of, millennium thinking. The record isn't one-sided, you know-- there's more to it."

That is, of course, one of Ross' sly understatements. My Big Hero is a maze of misdirection, most of it pleasant. The industrial reputation of TRENT REZNOR's NOTHING RECORDS, which plans to release NIN remixes of the single "Pleasant Smell," is soon tempered by the twisted Delta dread of "Where Fools Go," which samples Nick Cave and conjures PJ Harvey's To Bring You My Love.....

Thanks to: crystal.

The Perfect Drug on Hard Copy

I'm told Hard Copy had a special on illegal drug's earlier today and that the TPD video was used as an example because of the showing of the drug Trent drank in the video..

I was watching Hard Copy when they did a report on the drink absinthe (which has been classified as a illegal drug in the US). They and repeadly showed clips from the Perfect Drug video where trent is mulling over a cup of strange green liquid, which is the color of absinthe. So if anybody was pondering that liquid, it is most likely representing that drug.

Thanks to: NuzzleDark and DarkSun.

I have a lot of information I'm trying to confirm. So as soon as the letters come back with the answers I'll have it here.

I am going to be gone ALL day tomorrow thought... If I have news before I leave- which will be in the morning... I'll have that up as well...

I archived 16 updates in the "June" link at the bottom of the page on the "old news" image map...

I got back late last night, I was to tired to update... anyways... nuff-said... here's all the latest.
