TDTWWA Debuts In Australia

Until today, there hasn't been any news concerning the release of The Day The World Went Away single. I'm told that radio stations have begun to receive their promo copies of the single, and their national youth station Triple J, which is pretty much the only station there that plays NIN, will debut the single this Sunday, August 1st on their new music show called 1999. I'd say after this Sunday it will be on heavy rotation at the station.

Check out the official Triple J website for further information.

Thanks to: gareth.

Marilyn Manson Says All During Online Conference

Well, I would had made an earlier update about the Marilyn Manson chat last night, but I had to give it some extra thought about what I had to say. It seems Manson decided to take a stab at a news piece we featured on July 20th concerning his Coma White video that I was told about from the management when asked. He briefly mentioned that we reported a rumor concerning the new delay of Coma White during the closing of his Internet fan conference yesterday was because of the JFK Jr. plain crash. I don't know much else to say about all of this and currently we are working things out, but SeemsLikeSalvation does not report rumors. We report information that is given to us by official sources or by those who get their information legitimately from other official sources such as magazines, etc. Whether or not people feel what they read are rumors, is by their assumptions only. Even just a simple fan site can cause enough controversy to stir up trouble for Marilyn Manson.... even then you can't win....

I did give the Management an idea to release the video earlier this month as an exclusive on their official Manson page just as they featured exclusive take-out clips of The Dope Show video last year, but Manson has a better idea on releasing the video to Coma White. Manson explained last night, that there will soon be a home video full of all their music videos including Cyptorchid, and behind the scenes footage of their Mechanical Animals tour f/ Hole (before they dropped earlier this year) will be released soon to reveal the highly anticipated video, Coma White. The home video will be entitled "God is in the TV".

During the opening of the chat Manson gave a speech about what the world is today and it can be currently read at the official site here.

Nine Inch Nails Debuts at #17

The first Nine Inch Nails's single to The Fragile, "The Day The World Went Away" debuted on The Billboard Hot 100 at #17, knocking the annoying single entitled "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer to a #18 position.

Thanks a lot to: Esch242 and bryan.

This will probably be the last update for today. I won't be around to make an another update till late tonight if there's anything to talk about.

NIN Single Debuts #1

Despite the poor single review given by Entertainment Weekly and the doubt Rollingstone has about The Fragile generating enough exposure concerning Trent's new music direction. The first single to Nine Inch Nails forthcoming studio double album scored a No. 1, out-selling its nearest competitor by 8 to 1, says the Canadian SoundScan singles chart.

"The Day The World Went Away" sold 10,440 copies, an almost unheard-of number in the release-starved Canadian singles market, where a single that sells 500 copies can often land in the Top 10.
The U.S. charts, "The Day The World Went Away" moved 71,150 copies, good enough for No. 3, but far behind the 208,600 copies sold of the No. 1 single, "Genie In A Bottle", by Christina Aguilera.
Thanks a lot to the guys at the official CANOE site , Geoff and MMeaz32.

Manson Leaves Message For Fans

Yesterday Marilyn Manson was on his official BBS chat forum where he left a message to their fans about the special online fan conference event that is currently taking place over at marilynmanson.net

Article: Hello from the depths of Holy Wood...
My fantastic band and I are busy composing music to usher in the Age of Horus.
The hate furnaces have been ignited once again, and it's good to see the world still despises us. We are censored and stopped at every turn. We are sabotaged, we are smeared with false press. This right here, you and I is the only thing that is real. Your support and dedication has made us survive this and we have returned to kick ass and take names. We will see the inauguration of a new worm.

In the name of
JEHOVAH
LUCIFER
SATAN
and THEIR UNION
THROUGH THE MAGICIAN, JESUS CHRIST

MARILYN MANSON

Thanks a lot to: dopestar24, NEWMODELMM and DDDDDrugs,

I would have an updated earlier this morning, but I had difficulties yet again with my modem... I'll have the details about the online phone conference with Marilyn Manson later tonight for those who aren't attending.

Alt Press Trent Reznor Interview

The Alternative Press issue with the cover story of Trent Reznor on their September issue can now be found on news stands as early as yesterday. Those who are anxiously waiting to read what's in the magazine can order the magazine here at the official site: Alternative Press.

The interview features new track titles which are briefly reviewed by John Pecorelli. The magazine consists of a total of seven reviews of "The Day The World Went Away", "Somewhat Damaged", "Into The Void", "Starfuckers, Inc.", "La Mer", "Pilgrimage" and "Ripe".

Trent Reznor, Charlie Clouser and Danny Lohner talk much about the anticipated Tapeworm album that dates back to '95, which is to feature Maynard [James Keenan] from Tool to Page [Hamilton] from Helmet; from Phil [Anselmo] from Pantera to Trent Reznor. Danny [Lohner] and Charlie [Clouser] are the main musical force behind Tapeworm.

This is a very extensive interview that gets pretty personal...

Thanks a lot to: Rorshach13 for all the help

Exclusive Zim Zum Interview

We first mentioned on February 28th that we were expecting an exclusive interview with ex-Marilyn Manson guitarist Zim Zum. Thanks to a very generous photographer/journalist by the name Christina Radish. (by the way, old/new pics of Trent Reznor that were taken by her are coming soon exclusively to SeemsLikeSalvation) The extensive and highly anticipated interview has finally arrived to SeemsLikeSalvation News.

Now a good friend to SeemsLikeSalvation, Zim Zum took the time the past month or so to chat with Christina over the phone about his latest work since his recording with Cher and KoRn.

Zim's new band, Ultra Fag is in the mix with 50 songs finished and currently looking for a record deal. Zim tells all about his latest experiences, touching base about Marilyn Manson, KoRn, Cher and and of course Ultra Fag among many other related topics.

Click here to read the Zim Zum interview by Christina Radish. The interview features an exclusive photograph from Bob Mussell of Zim as well and the Ultra Fag logo.

Downloads from TVT's Top 50 Catalogue Will be Available in September Using Reciprocal's DRM Solution

Yahoo news featured a press release last week describing a deal between TVT and Reciprocal to start distributing music digitally, which will include such bands as Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, the Connells and more over the Internet. Unfortunately, you'll need Microsoft Windows Media Player, which, of course, requires Microsoft Windows...

The pioneering digital rights management (DRM) solutions provider, and TVT Records, the largest freestanding record label, announced an agreement [July 20th] to use Reciprocal's suite of DRM services to make TVT singles and albums available for sale via digital distribution.

The companies expect to offer singles and full-length albums from TVT's top 50 recordings, including material from both priority new releases such as Sevendust, Portable, Speech, and DJ Hurricane, and from catalogue artists such as Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, the Connells, and the soundtracks Television's Greatest Hits and Mortal Kombat, available for sale in September, with more material to follow. The music will be available at http://www.tvtrecords.com in the Microsoft and InterTrust formats.

Thanks a lot to: jay.

Stop The Rumors

It has come to my attention that someone had the audacity to create a few fake nine inch nails covers to The Fragile and spam them across the internet which is now polluting people's minds into believing that these purposely bad quality "scans" are the real deal. *lol* Don't be subdued to these fakes, because they are no way associated with Nine Inch Nails nor the fake and extremely bad quality mp3 tracks that people keep sending me.

The Manson conference that took place on July 29th is currently being archived explains Manson's management. Expect an address to the conference some time early this month.

EW Gave TDTTWA Single An Average "C" Review

Entertainment Weekly ran TDTWWA as their Single of the Week. Here's the review:

NINE INCH NAILS "The Day the World Went Away" (Nothing/Interscope)
On this calling card for NIN's upcoming album, Trent Reznor treads dangerously close to self-parody, reheating the now-stale quiet-loud-quiet formula he exploited to far better effect on 94's The Downward Spiral: "Day" features a sleepy New Agey intro followed by massed guitars slapping you awake followed by mysterious mood music and portentous poesy. "In his voice I heard decay," runs a lyric; substitute sound for voice, and you've arrived at the crux of Reznor's problem.
Rating: C
Thanks a lot to: Cthulhu, FishyNets, Bobo654321, Middie1119.

New Manson Song: Astonishing Panorama of the End Times

In the latest issue of the English magazine Kerrang which came out on Monday, Manson has revealed in an interview that the unidentifiable song he played at his last Rock is Dead performance in the UK on July 10th is called "Astonishing Panorama of the End Times" and will be on his new album. The song itself is the unreleased track from Antichrist Superstar that was not included on the album.

Nine Inch Nails To Tour 2000

Rollingstone online updated late last night with an article concerning Nine Inch Nails touring next year and not this year following the release of The Fragile.

According to an unnamed source close to the band explained to Rollingstone, "He put so much effort and energy into the album, why would [Reznor] wanna take thirty days to figure out what the tour is?" says the source, who adds that if and when NIN tours, they may begin abroad. "Nine Inch Nails do things their own way and they aren't going to sign up for [a tour] with the way things are [with massive expenses and little net pay] and come home and not have any money."

Well since Rollingstone is shelling out their information. I guess it's only fair to shell out what we were informed on July 3rd. Although unconfirmed it now seems NIN will make their first appearance in support of the new album on September 9th, 1999 for the MTV Video Music Awards and that there will not be a North American tour until early 2000, but that there may be 3 or 4 secret "club" shows at some point in September or October. I was told by an MTV source on June 26th that MTV is building a relationship with Trent, which he was there meeting with them in early/middle June, and they wanted to play it by the book.

Check out Rollingstone online for more information from the source close to Nine inch Nails.

Thanks to: FEAR33.

I may have the new NIN news that I mentioned on July 20th, sometime this week... no promises.

The Fans Speak Out About The NIN Riddles

With yesterday's posting about how Tuesday, June 29th was the day nin.com officially opened and closed on Tuesday, July 20th equaling a total of twenty-two days. I was hinted that that the gap between these two dates have a hidden meaning all together, which I presume will equal another 22 days till the second single for the rumored August 10th release date. Exciting!

Below are a few emails that were submitted about how there are some more references to twenty two and the cover art flower to the single "The Day The World Went Away" that I was told by Nothing may also have a hidden meaning.

An Australian government website here features some interesting facts about our fine fuzzy friend, "The Kangaroo-Paw" flower spawning the first single cover art of the The Day The World Went Away.

"Flowering usually commences in August and extends through to early October, although in some years and in some localities it may commence before August and extend into late October."
Submitted by: Damian.
The single, "The Day The World Went Away" is 22 letters long.
Submitted by: Matador.
It's native to Australia where it is noted for its creativity and strangeness. The flowers burst into vivid reds and blues from August until October and have a soft velvet like touch. They are odorless. The most popular use of the plant comes from the Aboriginal natives of Australia where the commonly used it as a tension reliever. Of course it is also commonly used for decoration, as it is one of the most beautiful and strange plants in the world.
Submitted by: Chris Brown.
Essences found for the kangaroo-paw, read...

Negative: socially immature, clumsy, gauche, insensitive to other's needs.
Positive: Relaxed, sensitivity, saviore faire, enjoyment of people.

It also says "This essence is for people who are 'green' and socialy inept. They do not know how to properly interact with people. They can be very insensitive becuase they are so focused on themselves that they miss the cues and needs of other people. They can be very self centered."

Submitted by: Ca9.
Could all these connections be only coincidences? I beg to differ! Keep your ideas and research coming!!

If you haven't read yesterday's news. It's pretty important!

Riddles That Lay Ahead At NIN.com

The official Nine Inch Nails website is much more than it seems it's a riddle. On Tuesday, June 29th (12am EST) was the day nin.com officially opened. Then last night, Tuesday July 20th was the day the website (world) went away and the single was released. That's a twenty-two day span with both of those dates a Tuesday. Intriguing... the only days of the week that singles and albums come out are Tuesdays... Look what we have here... twenty-two days counting today is August 10th. The date that was rumored to be halo fourteen (the next single) which we mention on July 18th (read "NIN Single Rumors" for more info) and twenty-two more days following August 10th is Tuesday, August 31st. Could that be The Fragile...? Lets not jump to conclusions just yet... BUT I can say that the opening and the closing of nin.com has something to do with August 10th and twenty two...

Today, the website reopened at 7pm EST and we see the cover of the single (halo thirteen) and now a new screen that is asking us for a username, email, password and a zip code. By the way, the single featuring the kangaroo- paw wildflower may also have a hidden meaning we should try and figure out... We are far from over... as new music and new NIN pictures are soon to come says Nothing Records.

More Delays To Manson's Coma White Video

Marilyn Manson fans that have been waiting patiently since April to see Coma White, the 4th music video to Mechanical Animals may have to wait even longer because of the tragic death of John F. Kennedy Jr. The adored son to our 35th president John F. Kennedy whom was assassinated in 1963- Marilyn Manson reenacts this controversial event in their highly anticipated music video Coma White that may give the band a spotlight they never intending in praising in shooting this video. The original delay of the video was because of the Columbine shootings that took place in April that made Marilyn Manson scapegoat priority #1 and entertainment a cause in the killings. So anything "violent" related was considered a threat to the American society and was put to a crashing halt till things subsided. So, we will just have to wait to see what Marilyn Manson's final video off Mechanical Animals is really like, after they, settle down for a second time. You just can't win....

Look forward to next weeks news nin fans... don't ask any questions, just look out for some cool news.

NIN Single Rumors

I am not aware of the next NIN single being called "La Mer" and I never said that was the next single on or off SLS News, but an unofficial NIN website by the name of "tHe eNd: The Final NIN page" is posting rumors claiming that it's to be the next single, because I said so. Wrong! I never said that and to believe stories such as this without seeing it on SLS News should not be quoted as, "SLS News said so."

If you ever see me in a message forum, use this IP address to identify me: 153.34.81.134 (the "134" digits will change each time I log on to the net) I won't write in message forums unless there is way of telling me apart from the imposters.

I would also like to point out that there is a new NIN single coming out next month just as we reported on July 4th (read our "No Video, No Radio Promo For First Single & More" for more info), but a date is not set in stone just yet... So the chances of an August 10th release date that everyone is talking about is just as likely as the other 4 Tuesdays in August. We'll keep you posted if August 10th is the official date.

I've been getting a few emails the past few days about this scan here of the 12" (vinyl) single. That scan you see is the promotional copy that was sent to radio stations featuring all the tracks. The commercial copy features the kangaroo-paw wildflower (Native to western Australia) on the cover and contains the original track to TDTWWA, the quiet version and the Porter Ricks remix. The commercial 12" does not carry Starfuckers, Inc.

New The The Album and Live Manson Album News

We mentioned yesterday that in terms of the new The The album, recently singed to Nothing Records their new album consisting of all new music is now tentatively set for a January 2000 release says Universal.

Universal also explains to SeemsLikeSalvation News about the possibility of the live Marilyn Manson album that we mentioned yesterday is not officially confirmed just yet, but may be a double album and would come out at the end of November or the beginning of December (just in time for Christmas!). I'm still in works in finding out more information concerning this among other Manson news...

TheFragile.com officially launched

An old friend of mine who used to work with us on SeemsLikeSalvation back in the days recently launched his unofficial, but extremely creative Nine Inch Nails website with one of the most intricate website address: TheFragile.com.

Snagging this address last year when Trent Reznor once spoke of naming his forth release The Fragile. The guys at The Weathermen and Dead Souls got their ass in gear and purchased the site with no delay. Now holding an address any nin fan would fight to own the team at TheFragile.com will live up to Yves (Dizzy) Boudreau's innovative and creative splash designs.

TheFragile.com at the moment is growing rapidly but consisting with a small amount of new information. It's soon to expand with mass amounts of information concerning Trent's next release.

The site consist of downloadable real audio clips of TDTWWA, Starfuckers Inc., TDTWWA (Quite) and TDTWWA (Porter Ricks). A working merchandise page thanks to the help of The Weathermen, News, image galleries and more...

Manson's Goes Holy Wood With Movie & Album

The official Marilyn Manson website has updated the news page with new information concerning Marilyn Manson's movie script and album called Holy Wood.

Marilyn Manson is currently finishing a script and album called Holy Wood, a project he describes as a parable about man's desire to destroy himself in a world where violence is a religion and everyone is a star.

"I want to show people that true beauty and love can only be obtained by first experiencing the ugliest and most apathetic side of yourself. And that the one true god can be found if you look in the right places."

According to MTV News, Marilyn Manson's film project was green lighted by New Line Cinema and plans are that Manson is to both star in the film as well as provide an original soundtrack for the movie, titled "Marilyn Manson's Holywood."

No director is currently attached to the film, adds MTV News, but producers are hoping that Manson's real-life fiancée, Rose McGowan, will agree to take a role in the movie. Manson made a cameo appearance in McGowan's recent black comedy, "Jawbreaker."

I'll have a confirmation on this sometime this weekend from Manson's management.

The Greatest 90 Albums Of The '90s

Trent Reznor graces the cover of the latest issue of SPIN magazine with other artists such as Beck, Lauryn Hill and the late Kurt Cobain for the "The Greatest 90 Albums Of The '90s." Sadly NIN made #11 beaten by a few bands such as Pavement, Hole and The Chemical Brothers. Here's the article in its entirety.

#11
Nine Inch Nails: The Downward Spiral

It was the best of sounds, it was the worst of sounds. In a Los Angeles recording studio, Trent Reznor filtered the nails-on-chalkboard textures of industrial through a blend of punk, metal, hip hop, stoner rock and new wave, which made the machinery pulse as if it were human-and still sounds fresh today. But the studio in question was located in the house where Charles Manson's "family" slew actress Sharon Tate, and Reznor paid tribute with plenty of sophmoric "pig lyrics. Even he only half-heartedly defended the tossed-off horror show "Big Man With a Gun", which put him on a collison course with conservative activist C. Delores Tucker and former US Secretary of Education William Bennett. Anything went, and without much thought to the consequences.

Still, it could have been worse. As Reznor said in 1995, "There was another song that I didn't put on there called "Just Do It". It was a very dangerously slef-destructive, silly little snippet. You know, 'If you're going to kill yourself, just do it, nobody cares at all.' But (TDS producer) Flood freaked out and said, 'No, you've gone too far. I don't want to be involved in that.'"

Reznor's embrace of the extreme could seem disturbingly manipulative, but his anger was real. The results, drawn in part from Ministry's work in the 80's but far more grand and personal, synthesized a new brand of rock-n-roll rocket fuel. Reznor obviously influenced industrial-types like Filter and his seamier protege, Marilyn Manson, but he also pave the way for anyone mixing guitar-slinger rage with modern-day beats. And despite the controversy swirling around Reznor, the synth-pop tour de force "Closer" made "I want to fuck you like and animal" a heavy-rotation message. Tori Amos admires "the way he stuck to what he believed in and could draw a line with the record company." Today, as Reznor finishes his long-awaited new rocrd he says, "I had a stpry to tell (with TDS), and I was-and still am- very pleased with how it turned out. I didn't realize at the time, however, that it was about to become a self-fullfilling prophecy."

Thanks a lot to: NINXPX.

New Sonicnet NIN Article

Yesterday I posted an update asking NIN webmasters to write me if they were told to remove the new tracks to the upcoming single release entitled The Day The World Went Away on July 20th off their website. Well, I asked because Sonicnet.com was working on an article which they now have online at Sonicnet.com.

The article touches base basically what happened with people's website and other politically correct views about downloadable music off the Internet. Very amusing...

Blair Witch Project Soundtrack Includes MBM

The independent horror film The Blair Witch Project is one of the most highly anticipated independent films of the summer, which is to include not only old Meat Beat Manifesto from "Subliminal Sandwich", but Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly and Type O Negative among many other artists that should make this movie from hell blow your mind in fear.

The Blair Witch Project was shot entirely on location in Maryland in eight days, with everything, including shooting the actual film. Leonard was the main cameraman with a large 16mm camera. Williams acted as soundman, using a digital recorder. And Donahue had a Hi-8 video camera she used to shoot behind-the-scenes tape.

The actors were only told the basic concept of the story. Then with cameras at the ready, they were put into frightening situations created by the two co-directors, co-writers and co-editors of the film -- Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick. The actors improvised and filmed each other through it all.

"The Blair Witch Project" opened in limited release on July 16th and in wider distribution July 30th. The film is rated "R" with a running time of 82 minutes and let me tell you... it will fuck with your mind!!!

Here is the track listing to the soundtrack from the official Blair Witch site:

1. Lydia Lunch ... "Gloomy Sunday"
2. Public Image Ltd. ... "The Order of Death"
3. Skinny Puppy ... "Draining Faces"
4. Bauhaus ... "Kingdom's Coming"
5. The Creatures ... "Don't Go To Sleep Without Me"
6. Laibach ... "God Is God"
7. Afghan Whigs ... "Beware"
8. Front Line Assembly ... "Laughing Pain"
9. Type O Negative ... "Haunted"
10. Meat Beat Manifesto ... "She's Unreal"
11. Tones on Tail ... "Movement Of Fear"
12. Antonio Cora ... "The Cellar"
Thanks a lot to: DeftoneHed.

I was up late last night again making this update so I had a few broken links because of the late hour. One was to Manson's page and the other was to my Halo 13 promotional page. They are now fixed.

NIN Single Goes Global

WFNX radio (101.7) in Boston have been airing both Starfuckers, Inc. and The Day The World Went Away through out the day. To listen to new Nine Inch Nails on WFNX radio click here: FNX Radio.

Like I stated last week, the tracks are now in mp3 format all over the Internet, but I won't be posting the files on SLS news for moral reasons...

NIN Single Hits Air Waves

Radio stations have begun airing the new Nine Inch Nails single The Day The World Went Away today. Luckily an SLS viewer got a whiff of the song on his way home listening to 92.3 K-Rock, NY. Here's what he had to say about the single:

I Just heard the *NEW* NineInchNails song entitled StarF*ckers which will be featured on the single released next week. It was pure luck that I caught it. I got home from my girlfriends and took out the CD I was listening to, normally I turn off the car before I take the CD out, but for some reason I didnt tonight... so as I am searching for the case, I hear the DJ on 92.3 K-Rock saying his friend gave him an unreleased single and that hes not supposed to play it yet... I figured it HAD to be NIN or he wouldnt be making such a big deal out of it. he said hed play a few minutes and it started with a beat, and some other industrial noise which ensured me it was Trent, and it went in to some singing, and then when it came time to say StarF*ckers it was screamed with other voices in the background. (as Im typing this, he keeps playing little clips from TDTWWA) StarF*ckers sounds like it could have come off of the Broken CD, and has a bit of the supernaut sound mixed in. I kid you not, and based on my description, when you hear it you will know I am not making this up. If (there he goes playing another clip) played a part with Trent saying "all that pain" or something like that. and he just said "For Nine Inch Nails entirety. tune in to K-Roack tomorrow afternoon (7/13/99 I assume) as I was saying, if you want to hear some and you can get K-Rock, keep listening.. every few songs hes playing it.
Thanks a lot to: mermaid.

Single Review: The Day The World Went Away

The music that made Trent Reznor industrial rock's first bona fide mainstream star is back once again and SeemsLikeSalvation News has the details. The Day The World Went Away (TDTWWA), the first single off The Fragile (set to hit streets July 20th), is undeniably what we've all grown up to love... hard, dynamic, nail biting, electronic soundscapes echo with intriguing and sometimes disturbing lyrics.

Thanks to Reznor's creative vision and uncompromising approach, he is about to unleash the first single from the highly anticipated (5 years worth of waiting!) album, The Fragile.

The Modern Music experience will once again be enhanced as TDTWWA will be an instant classic in the archive of NIN singles.

The Day The World Went Away starts off fairly quietly, with a sound that causes the listener to almost squirm in anticipation as the almost inevitable "take your head off" riff is about to explode... and it does, rapidly breaking into a massive, electronic heavy guitar assault. As Rolling Stone stated in their July issue TDTWWA is, "viciously, unmistakably Nine Inch Nails." This track while hard and aggressive contains no drums what so ever.

Starfuckers, Inc. once again starts off less aggressively than you might expect considering the name of the song, but the chorus is another slam your head against the door experience. The song also indicates perhaps just how much of Anti-Christ Superstar was directly influenced/created by Reznor. As well as taking a vicious swipe at modern day stars (perhaps one in particular?), he also reprises a lyrical snippet of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" singing, "You're so vain/I bet you think this song is about you/Don't you?/Don't you?/Don't you?".

The quiet version of "The Day The World Went Away" starts off with avoices that build to an almost scary level (think Orff's Carmina Burana). The instrumentation is much simpler than the original and becomes almost sparse with Trent's vocals over an acoustic piano. While it obviously originated as the same song as track 1, it is definitely different in a substantial way.

The single cover features a very pale blue background with a beautiful, fuzzy plant-like object (looks like something you might die from if you ate it, but beautiful to look at)... Click here for a small portion of the cover pic. That is the actual main picture you see bleeding through the text box of the single. (Thanks to Ruiner's website for hosting the small pic)

The official release date is Tuesday, July 20th. The wait is almost over and it will definitely be worth it. TDTWWA should tide us over until that day in September (hopefully?) when The Fragile finally appears.

NIN Guitarist Auditioning, NIN Deadline?

I received quite a few emails yesterday about what the official site meant by the Fragile "to be turned in" concerning yesterday's update. Turned in simply means that is when Trent Reznor actually hands over the finished album master to the label. I was told yesterday that the master and the artwork were due to be turned in by July 31st.

Also an extremely reliable source informed me late last night that Danny Lohner is auditioning guitarists in L.A. this week. Open call auditions. I guess he'll narrow the list down and Trent will pick the "winner." You will hear more about this in the days to come... we'll let you know where to look.

The Weathermen Records have recently snagged some mighty rare Mechanical Animals CDs featuring a comic book collectors edition of none other than Mechanical Animals. The cover itself is different as well with a comic book type drawing.

Weathermen's Price: $25.99

Completed NIN Album To Be Turned In Two Weeks

The official Nine Inch Nails website uploaded a new journal entry yesterday which discusses that everyone is trying to avoid "TR" the best they can since they are in the "final days" of recording/working... whatever... The official site also mentions, " the completed record is to be turned in in two weeks. Pressure. Live rehearsals have begun. Exciting times." Check out the official site to read more in the journal issue concerning the album.

Thanks a lot to: Nin2000.

No Video, No Radio Promo For First Single & More

I'm told by Universal that late last week it was decided that there will not be a video for "The Day The World Went Away". There will also not be a promotional radio single for this track. There will be a promotional 12" single in addition to the commercial one. No word yet as to whether the tracks are the same on the promo version. The first official radio single and video will not be coming until around the middle of August. The album is now definitely scheduled for September (at least as definite as anything gets with NIN releases), although a specific date has not been confirmed. It is also official that the album will be a double and will be called "The Fragile".

The track listing for the CD single is:

1. The Day The World Went Away (4:03)
2. Starfuckers, Inc. (5:23)
3 .The Day The World Went Away (Quiet) (6:22)
The track listing for the cassette single is:
A1. The Day The World Went Away (3:28)
B1. Starfuckers, Inc. (5:20)
The reason the tape version of Starfuckers, Inc. is longer than the CD version is because there will be Nine Inch Nails oncore cheer at the end opposed to a fade out in the CD release.

Happy 4th of July America!

B-Side Single Not Censored

Long time friend and source to SeemsLikeSalvation News; Kraw has informed me that Nothing/Interscope have decided to not censor the first single's B-side title Starfuckers on the cover art of The Day The World Went Away says Universal. What does that mean for the family oriented 'K-mart', 'Wall-mart', 'Target' chains? At this point, it's to early to decide... but cancel those Christian bookstore orders right away!!

Thanks a lot to: kraw.

Details About Extra Remix On 12" NIN Single

Online magazine SonicNet.com features some new details about the second remix of The Day The World Went Away that will only appear on the 12" vinyl in their latest article, which was first mention yesterday.

"The 12-inch vinyl version of the song will feature a remix from Porter Ricks, a duo comprising Thomas Koner and Andy Melwig who use heavy bass loops, repetitive keyboard patterns and dub effects."
Porter Ricks named for a character on the '60s TV show Flipper, they specialize in subaquatic dub techno, providing the closest touchstone to the static hum and fuzzy beatwork of their quasi label-mates Basic Channel. A collaboration between ambient maestro Thomas Köner and beatmeister Andy Mellwig, the duo debuted with three 12-inches on the Basic Channel sub-label Chain Reaction during 1995-96. Filtering out any of the harder effects from Detroit techno and Plastikman material with what sounded like an affinity for undersea SONAR frequencies and wind-tunnel ambience, the singles became quite popular with the growing experimental techno scene of the mid-'90s (and even influenced Plastikman in return).
Thanks a lot to: Steve.

Official Nine Inch Nails Press Release

SeemsLikeSalvation News will be getting official press releases from Nothing Records from this point on... Since I've been extremely busy the past few days. I haven't had the time to get this release on SLS News. That's all changing and just in time too... with NIN news drastically picking up, so will the updates. Unfortunately the news below was discovered weeks back, so this wasn't a major concern to post, but this is what the press releases will look like. As the weeks progress expect news about the Trent Reznor cover issue in Alternative Press (going on sale early August), video news, and more...
