According IGN Incorporated,
Take-Two Interactive revealed details to their upcoming
videogame, Celebrity Deathmatch, a party-style fighting/wrestling/action
game starring polygonal re-creations of popular, brash,
and wild figures on TV, movies, in music, and elsewhere.
The video game will feature such
figures as Marilyn Manson, Mr. T, Bust-A-Rhymes, Tommy
Lee and others as they face off in a ring and pound
each other into oblivion.
The version IGN saw was only 30% complete, "and
so it has a long way to go," reports the site.
"However, we were able to witness a lot of good
bashing and some funny stunts at that, which was enough
to convince us that Celebrity Deathmatch may just
be an excellent party game for two or more people."
Take-Two is going after the "Authenticity"
of the show, continued the site, "so it's re-creating
many of the looks, perspectives, and stylings of the
popular cable TV show, such as retaining the two announcers,
Nick and Johnny; a full, polygonal 3D crowd that will
get up and yell, interact, and throw items at the
contestants; and provide the music and feel of the
TV show. The game stars 12 celebrities, many of which
are providing their own voices.
Will it be any good?
"Celebrity Deathmatch is no Soul Calibur 2, nor
is it Virtua Fighter 4," Douglass C. Perry, IGN
Journalist reports, "but then again, it's not
aiming to be either. Celebrity Deathmatch is a funny,
silly, and entertaining game that is certainly going
to be fun for a casual audience, and it may yet be
deep enough for a hardcore audience, too. Before you
scoff, listen to this: There are special moves for
each character, counters, reversals, and oh yes, the
ultimate in fighting goodness, fatalities.
Due this fall, Celebrity
Deathmatch will be equipped as a four-player fighter
and is said to boast online compatibility. I will
ask this week if Manson will or will not provide his
voice for the video game.
Thanks a lot
