NIN Vinyl Contains Extra Track

Break out your old record players NIN fans, because you won't be buying the first vinyl to the new Nine Inch Nail's single "The Day The World Went Away" just for sentimental value, but also because of an extra NIN remix that won't be found on the soon to be released CD or cassette single on July 20th.

The brand new online magazine website SPIN.com reports here that the vinyl is to carry The Day The World Went Away (Porter Ricks) among the original, The Day The World Went Away (Quite) and the hard smash hitting Starfuckers that we mentioned on June 24th. (Read our "NIN Single Track Listings" headline for more info)

Thanks a lot to: Bukster.

NIN Site Overview

The official Nine Inch Nails website just launched their whopping sneak preview with lots of little goodies inside. I spent a lot of time last night analyzing and breaking the site down; to discuss today about what's on the website. Here's a detailed description of what you can find on the sneak preview:

The site features 15 never before seen pages, such as 4 looped sound effects, 7 abstract pictures, 3 shockwave driven pages, and a discussion board for the fans. There will be lots more to come; just give them more time... this is only a sneak of what's a head..

As you enter the site you are greeted with the familiar static floating NIN symbol, but then bombarded with a low droning type sound with 36 individual blocks construct itself one by one into a square above the words "halo thirteen". Oh yeah!

You can find the lyrics to: The Day The World Went Away and how the song We're In This Together (WITT) came about...

Deciphering what the words are to Starfuckers is more challenging than the others, but the words can be read there... so give it a shot.

Nothing Records told me last night that Netscape users shouldn't have any more problems sometime this afternoon, but Microsoft Internet Explorer users should be just fine. I'm told there will also be more NIN samples to come and that this is only the beginning...

More news to follow.... soon.

New NIN Sample: Part 3 Online

The official Nine Inch Nails website uploaded part three of what sounds like to me what Rollingstone magazine described of The Day The World Went Away.

This new sample is even more unpredictable than anything he has done before... This one picks up where the last one left off, but now it features a twinkling, scaling piano in the background, with the volume increasing and decreasing, underneath a droning synth sound - which fades out into a high flute-like sound. It is the same song, because you hear Trent whispering the same lyrics, "All I've undergone, I will keep on."

As the sample comes to a completion leaving us hanging until next time. The very end reminds me more of A Warm Place.

Check it out for yourself at www.nin.com.

Thanks to: ryan.

New NIN Sample Online: Part Two

The official Nine Inch Nails website updated their page with part 2 of the new Nine Inch Nails single that hits the streets Tuesday, July 20th. (Read our June 22nd "Official New NIN Single" headline for more info)

It starts off just as the first one left us, with what sounds like Trent saying, "All I've undergone, I will keep on" for 30 seconds. Then we reach a slow pause that picks up with new music... a low looped bass and a slow looped drum with sharp synth noises peeking in and out. As the clip comes to an end you begin to hear a high hissing noise getting louder and louder as the music fades, but as the clip comes to an end... we hear what sounds like to be next weeks teaser... louder, faster Nine Inch Nails... (Read our June 19th "Trent Reznor Breaks The Silence With New Nine Inch Nails" headline for more info on the original sample)

To listen to the clip... go to http://www.nin.com/indexNIN.html and reload constantly till it starts downloading... then simply wait. You'll eventually hear it. If you want to listen to the track again... wait about 30 more seconds and it should play all by itself.

Reading the description below from the July issue of Rollingstone about what the first single The Day The World Went Away is to sound like, does part of this description sound like the clip we are hearing?

"One part has massed, Black Sabbath-like guitars suspended in echo with discreet electronics and a slightly askew acoustic guitar that proves to be a ukulele. Another section is even more airy - somber piano, acoustic bass, a clean, intimate Reznor vocal, a mere eight lines of lyrics."
I hope to have an answer sometime next week if this is the original or the quiet mix that is to be on the single. (Read about our June 24th "NIN Single Track Listings" headline for more info on the track listing.)

More news to follow.... soon.

Stigmata Soundtrack Pushed Back

Just for reference Rollingstone's release date website reported on Tuesday that the soundtrack to the upcoming Patricia Arquette/Gabriel Byrne film called Stigmata f/ a remix of Nine Inch Nails' A Warm Place by Sister Soleil would be out June 29th, but as of this week. I'm told that it has been delayed 'till an unfortunate late August release. Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) has pushed the movie back to September 10th from an August 27th release. The original release for the movie was for July 9th, which would correspond with a June 29 release. I'm told that the soundtrack hasn't even been solicited to stores yet. So it's going to be a while.

Thanks a lot to: matt, kraw.

Weird Al Features Another NIN Parody

Allstar magazine reports that Weird Al Yankovic's new album Running With Scissors will feature another parody of Nine Inch Nails which hits the streets on Tuesday, June 29th. On Yankovic's last album Bad Hair Day featuring the popular hit "Amish Paradise" a parody of the Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio. You can find a medly arranged by Yankovic called Alternative Polka that a carried series of 12 sped up short verses from pouplar songs such as Alanis Morisssette's You Oughta Know, Beck' s Loser, Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun, Green Day's Basket Case and yours trully Nine Inch Nails' Closer just to name a few.

Thanks a lot to: meathead.

I just want to point out a rumor that must be stopped. There is no nine inch nails song called "digital" or "digital allied" there never was. It was an April fools joke played by a Boston radio station. That song that you keep hearing is by a band called Boom Boom Satellites and that isn't even the real name of the track. So please stop sending me the mp3. Thanks...

Trent Reznor Breaks The Silence With New Nine Inch Nails

If you haven't been following the news the past few weeks. The official Nine Inch Nails website is a little less than boring, you can download new Nine Inch Nails material off the forthcoming release The Fragile.

This isn't your typical Nine Inch Nails sound that is dominated by clanging synths and sardonic, shrieking vocals. We have to presume that the name of the track is called 'One' (hence the location of the address).

The teaser featuring more than a minute of music reminds me of something that I would hear underwater. A gentle whisper under Trent's breath he says, "All I've undergone, I will keep on."

The Fragile tentatively set for a September release, says Rollingstone. You ask yourself, "Can Trent pull off this 5 year anticipated double album featuring more than 2 dozen tracks in time for a September release?" Only time will tell, but lets just say... if the whole ninetynine advertisement works as planned... He's only got 6 months left. So lets begin scratching off what's left of the Tuesdays in the year of ninetynine... shall we?

Just for the record I won't be posting this teaser in mp3 format on SLS News, but you can listen to it at the official NIN site. What you need to do is first have shockwave capabilities, THEN wait as the flicking static driven NIN logo finishes. Simply hit reload once or twice (how many times it takes) till you begin to notice something downloading on your browser. Finally wait calmly as the seconds tick and viola... The second Nine Inch Nails teaser...

Thanks to all the people who wrote me and to Morgan. =)

Manson Attends MTV Movie Awards

MTV held their 1999 MTV Movie Awards Saturday night in Santa Monica's Barker Hanger where stars from the rock and film worlds collided in what could only be described as one big party of fashion statements, outrageous comments, and utter hysteria.

Marilyn Manson attended his fiancé's side, Rose McGowan that night wearing a black leather suit what was said to look like Herman Munster said calendarlive.com. McGowan showed up this year in a red vintage gown. "There are some nights when you want to rock out and some nights you want to look like a movie star. These are the movie awards" she said.

Manson gave some thoughts on "Star Wars" that night, which he says, "I don't like the idea of creating characters with computers. The movie was OK, I just don't like the concept of that because it rules out the actors."

The MTV Movie Awards airs tomorrow night at 9pm EST (pre show at 8:30pm EST). For a list of winners click here.

Also Launch.com reports that Rose McGowan and Manson are currently developing a script in which they will co-star. The movie has no title, but it will be a love story, "kind of," McGowan says, "in a sad, sad, twisted way." Meanwhile, McGowan surprised observers with a sexy-yet-demure red gown that stood in stark contrast to the X-rated number she donned for the MTV Music Awards in 1998. "I wanted to show that there's a clear delineation between the times when you want to rock out and when you want to be a movie star," McGowan said. "This is the Movie Awards, after all."

Thanks a lot to: Kottenhahn and jake.

News UK Big Day Out Featuring Manson

This email below is from one of the councillorsat Milton Keynes (UK) regarding Marilyn Manson playing at the Big Day Out Festival with Metallica and it looks like it will be happening...

I can't confirm whether he will be appearing or not cause thats up to the promoters. But I can tell you that at this evenings Licensing Committe the promoters of the the event BGS develepments were granted their outdour entertainments licence. The issue of Maralyn Mansons apperarance on the guest list wasn't even raised as an issue by our chief Enviromental Officer.

He had done his research (via the Internet) and found that Manson had appeared several times in the Uk and a number of venues all without incident so there was no need to report any thing to the Committee. In fact if I hadn't have asked if this was the Gig where he was supposed to be playing his name wouldn't even have been mentioned.

So it's down now to the promoters and I dont see any reason why he shouldnt play here at all.

I hear 40,000 tickets have already been sold and the expected audience is 55,000. Top of the bill is Mettallica. If you've got a ticket I hope you have a great day out and enjoy yourself. If you havent ...well you better hurry.

Thanks a lot to: Nathan for the forward.

Manson Penning New Music Material

Manson is back online once again writing his fans on his official BBS board here with much to say! He is currently penning new material for their next album, among other very special things.

just to say hello.
i have not forgotten anyone.
unfortunately the fascist, corporate sellouts that did everything in their power to help disrupt my tour plans have interfered in radio and tv
transmissions as well. but i took my time thanks to rolling stone and kurt loder and said what I needed to say.
i have been busy writing my new album and screenplay, as well as prepairing a full art exhibit of all unseen paintings. coma white, a cover of highway to hell and an unreleased track from acss that we have given to celebrity death match are all on their way.
we shall return heavier than ever, unapologetic, and all middle fingers motherfuckers.

More Statements From Manson About Columbine High Shootings

Rollingstone recently published a powerful article by Marilyn Manson about the media linking him as a scapegoat to the Colorado shootings that took place in April.

"In my work I examine the America we live in, and I've always tried to show people that the devil we blame our atrocities on is really just each one of us." - Marilyn Manson

New Nine Inch Nails Video

I mentioned quite a lot last week that I was working to confirm some important NIN news, well it seems I've struck gold this week thanks to two close sources, but there's a bit of a problem. When I went to confirm it yesterday I was told that I can't get a conformation. So I'm running it anyway... with a nod so to speak.

Here are the facts:

While my modem was totally shot to shit over the week (hence no updates the past few days) I was told from some extremely reliable sources that NIN filmed the video for their first single in L.A. at the end of last week! I received an email on May 23rd explaining that Trent Reznor was to begin shooting the first video for the single on Monday, May 24th exaculling 8 days of shooting.

I have also been told that while no one at Interscope is officially talking about the release yet, that when it happens, ****** (deleted for privacy) will get a very comprehensive package including the music, the video, the artwork, and the overall plan all together.

Apparently the video shoot was a very closed set with virtually no non-essential people allowed on site, hence the secrecy.... Well, not anymore...

My sources will be supplying SeemsLikeSalvation News with more information as it comes, but my second source who sparked my interest in calling to confirm the biggest NIN news since 'The Perfect Drug' and 'Closure' explained that he will be keeping in touch with someone close to Trent for new information. I'm working to get a track title by next week.

Take my news as it is, but my sources are all saying basically the same thing, video, video, video.... Till next time, you heard it here first!

I have some Manson news to post, but I wanted to get this NIN article online since its so important, but have no fear for those who have been writing. My fried modem did a number on my wallet so I had to wait till i got my pay check this week to buy a new one. I'm back, along with the news.
