Ninevolt Review TheThe's "NakedSelf"

In the latest issue of Ninevolt, a free magazine with local bands and stuff, the CD review section reviewed the TheThe's "NakedSelf". It received 4 CDs out of 4.

TheThe (basically Matt Johnson and whomever else he brings along for the ride) hasn't released a proper studio album since 1993's Dusk. (1995's hanky panky, a collection of hank Williams covers, hardly counts as proper.) Not that he didn't try. But, epic records rejected 1997's gun sluts album, and in 1998. TheThe rejected epic records in favor of Trent Reznors label, nothing.

The bands new album, NakedSelf, finds Matt Johnson's musical sensibilities as dark, gloomy, and melodic as ever. Although its moody and more based in acoustic guitar than, say, nine inch nails or Marilyn Manson, its certainly as depressing and dirge like as anything they've created. In addition although Johnny Marr isn't in tow this time around (as he was for mind bomb and dusk) one would hope the smiths fans who discovered TheThe because of Marrs presence will also give naked self a chance. Its 12 tracks of what Matt Johnson does best. --William Harris.

Thanks a lot to: jason.

Possible Nine Inch Nails Montreal Date Soon!!

Trevor, an SLS viewer, was listening to the BUZZ, a Plattsburgh alternative music radio station that has a large Montreal audience, yesterday in the car, and after playing "Into the Void" the DJ had said something very interesting.

"He said that he just might have some interesting news about Nine Inch Nails and Montreal in the next couple of days," explained Trevor, "and that people should stay tuned." Although he forgets the DJ's exact words, the DJ said in so many words, "I have a feeling a little birdie might bring some news in the next couple of days about Montreal and NIN's Fragility v.2 tour."

Trevor commented that the DJ knows something, but isn't allowed to release it officially for a few days, which is usually the case. Although Trevor doesn't know for sure what he knows, "but my account of what he said is accurate," he explained.

Nine Inch Nails New York Venue Correction, LA Dress Rehearsal Gig

It seems New York's rock radio station K-ROCK (92.3) announced the wrong venue yesterday for the Tuesday, May 9th gig In New York. According to many listeners that evening, KROCK said Nine Inch Nails were to perform at the Nassau Coliseum, but then later corrected themselves to say NIN are to perform at the Madison Square Garden. Anyhow... Tickets go on sale Fri, April 7th at 4pm!

We should also mention that K-rock is giving away tickets to the final Nine Inch Nails dress rehearsal gig to take place on Monday (April 3rd) , along with WFNX radio (The same station with the week-long giveaway) and x96 (listen for Into The Void) has also announced that if you win on Friday, they will fly you this weekend to LOS ANGELES for a dress rehearsal for the tour.

New Confirmed Nine Inch Nails New York Venue, Date & Sale Time

New York's KROCK (92.3) announced today that Nine Inch Nails plan to perform at the Nassau Coliseum on May 9th. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 7th.

Gail, who informed us about the NY date, explained she produces a metal show on Long Island called "Fingers Metal Shop" and is one of the longest running metal shows in the country. "This is our seventieth year on the air," she explained. "The host isn't a big NIN fan," she added, "but I am and have been bugging him to give the new album more attention." She thinks with the upcoming show in the area he will do just that... Among other radio friendly NIN tunes her station has played on air, "We were playing "Starfuckers" for a while," she added, "which I must say was really ballsy since we are a major radio station on Long Island." The show is on WBAB every Sunday 11PM-1AM EST and for those who don't live in the area and would still like to tune in, you can access them via the web at: www.wbab.com.

Stay tuned, as more dates become available through out the week...

Spider One From PM5K Mentions Marilyn Manson Breifly About LA

Spider One from the band Powerman5000 did an interview with IGN for Men, which he made a reference to Marilyn Manson about Los Angeles.

IGN For Men: That used to be over by Universal City, right?

Spider: Yeah, but it's gone now. But it used to trip me out when I would go by there. I would think "Why, that's $%&*!@# where they did all that @#$%" And I still get off on seeing like a movie star at the grocery store and stuff. So for me, it's definitely the place to be right now. It's just this bizarre city which is completely based on making up stuff. You know what I mean? But I think that you just have to be careful when you move there to not lose sight that LA in no way represents the rest of the country. I think that you have to balance out the fact that to be inspired by all this sort of big creative machine that's there you have to step aside for a minute and say that it's also a bunch of bull#$%* because when you go on tour and you're in Wisconsin or you're in Tulsa or somewhere, they don't give a #$%*. They just want to rock. And I think that a lot of people who move to LA get fooled that that's sort of the pulse of the country. I think of Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love and all these people who move there and they hang out with sitcom stars and they start believing that this is what matters in life and then they make records that the rest of the country can't relate to. I think that you sort of have to balance yourself when you live there and draw what you can from it, but then sort of put it all aside and realize that your real fan base is sandwiched between LA and New York. And I think that having lived in Boston forever, that I'll never shake that sort of vibe of the country, that East Coast, it's a whole different scene, you know?

You can read the rest of the interview here.

Thanks a lot to: Scott S..

Kerrang's Nine Inch Nails April Fools NIN Joke

It's seems Kerrang magazine is trying to pull a fast one on all us NIN fans with their hysterically funny April fools joke headline and story "Reznor Remixes Tom Jones." Rather than to ignore this and receive hundreds of emails daily while this issue is on stands, we will confirm this is nothing more than a funny, yet sick joke. =)

"REZNOR REMIXES TOM JONES.

Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor has been secretly working with Tom Jones on remixes of the vetran Welsh crooner's standards. Reznor is understood to have handled a 'cock ring' remix of Jones' "it's Not Unusual", along with a new version of "The Green, Green Grass Of Home", which he has subtitled "The Sweet Misery Of Sin". Jones' decision to use Reznor is thought to have stemmed from the singer's recent liaison with the Stereophonics. Word also reaches Kerrang! that newly industrial-minded pop-lord Robbie Williams wants Reznor to work on his "Let Me Entertain You' track-a remix which currently bears the working title "Let Me Give You An Enema".

Secret Final Nine Inch Nails Dress Rehearsal Gig

The world known LA radio station KROQ (106.7) has announced a secret final Nine Inch Nails dress rehearsal gig to take place on Monday (April 3rd) in an "announced venue." We first mentioned this supposed secret NIN date on March 26th ("Secret A Perfect Circle Date, Possibly Nine Inch Nails Too?") to take place around the same time A Perfect Circle was to hold their secret gig on April 5th. Unfortunately this contest is through KROQ (nothing wrong with that), but the only way to get tickets is to listen every hour all weekend long. This contest is also to win a copy of the Fragile (if you have yet to buy your own copy of the Fragile, this contest is not for you), 2 tickets to the June 6th pond show, as well as tickets to NIN's final dress rehearsal we mentioned above. Below is the update KROQ.com has on their official website:

Only KROQ has your access to Trent's personal guest list for a private dress rehearsal this Monday night in a secret location. Listen every hour for your chance to win.

Thanks a lot to: Brian, enayekounc, dr. death.

Marilyn Manson Featured In TNT Documentary

It appears the TNT special "Faces of Evil" has been getting a lot of commercial air play since our last report on February 28th. (Please read our headline "TNT's 'Faces of Evil' Commercial To Feature Marilyn Manson.)

Last night on TNT, "I saw a preview for an upcoming documentary to be aired on Thursday, April 6th at 10 PM Eastern time, entitled Faces of Evil," explained Jay C. In the preview, a few brief shots of Manson are shown; apparently the film focuses on determining where evil comes from and how to fight against it. Here's a clip of info from the film's website:

Through wide-ranging opinion, vintage clips, original film footage and case studies, FACES OF EVIL probes the sinister in society in conversations with rock icon, Marilyn Manson, whose music, lifestyle and appearance have made him one of the most controversial figures in popular music; Emmanuel Milingo, an Archbishop at the Vatican who performs exorcisms by combining Catholic doctrine with traditional African faith healing; John Carpenter, film director and creator of the Halloween franchise, (Vampires, Village of the Damned) whose horrific imagery has frightened a generation of movie-goers; John Douglas, founder of the FBI Serial Killer Profiling Unit and the man upon whom Scott Glenn's character in Silence of the Lambs is based; and Poppy Z. Brite, a New Orleans-based fiction writer who presents sympathetic portraits of serial killers and demons.
The website for the film can be found here.

NIN Music Sampled In New Video Game

The new game for the Sony Playstation from Crave Entertainment (www.craveyard.com) called Galerians has a sample of the NIN song Terrible Lie playing during an animation sequence in the game's first few minutes of play and when enemies appear on the screen. Trent is NOT given credit for the use of the music. "I just got the game a few hours ago," explained Metalive. "It's a lot like Resident Evil (PSX) mixed with the 1989 classic anime Akira." He comments, "I'm not to far into the game but it's pretty sweet." If you like Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Fear Effect, & Silent Hill, then check this game out. Metalive also submitted a 50-second audio to the animation sequence with the NIN sample in MP3 format. If he finds any more NIN samples in the game he'll be sure to send them in. You can check out a preview of the game here: Galerians. Lots of pictures and a video clip as well.

Nine Inch Nails Production Rehearsals

The Nine Inch Nails webmaster left a message in the white discusson room today to discuss a little about the first day of production rehearsals in LA.

i'm writing right now from the first day of production rehearsals in LA. trent is warming up on stage at the moment, and the band should begin shortly. the main purpose of these rehearsals is not so much about the band learning the music - which they've already done - but more about getting the lights and everything else perfected.

mr. dillon is standing right here, and he has a message for you guys: "hello to the cummies from jerome."

No NIN At A Perfect Circle Secret Gig

All is confirmed for the A Perfect Circle secret show on April 5th, although tickets are now sold out. Virgin tells me no Nine Inch Nails though. This secret gig is just a show to hype the APC record, which were told is really great by the way. Our good friend Kraw will be attending this gig, hopefully he'll have something nin worthy to report.

UK London Arena NIN Confirmation

On March 25th Pollstar.com announced ten new Nine Inch Nails tour dates, which included a UK London Arena gig and appears to be the only non festival date outside the US. Paul Hopkins, an SLS viewer, emailed the London Arena to check if the news on the gig was correct. This is what the venue had to say:

"We have confirmation from the promoter that Nine Inch Nails will play on 1 July, however, there are final arrangements to be made regarding the length of the event and additional acts (possibly the whole weekend) and therefore, we do not yet have an on sale date."
Check out our March 25th headline "New Official Nine Inch Nails Tour Dates, NIN To Perform At The Following Festivals" for more information.

Nine Inch Nails To Perform In Buffalo, NY

According to Tickets.com Nine Inch Nails are to perform in Buffalo, NY on April 29th @ 8PM at the HSBC Arena / Marine Midland Arena. Although the official arena website does not list this event, yet, we should have a confirmation extremely soon since this is the new week.

Thanks a lot to: Lord Morpheus.

Secret A Perfect Circle Date, Possibly Nine Inch Nails Too?

A Perfect Circle is playing a secret show on April 5th at the Key Club in LA, tickets are currently available by calling the venue directly. We haven't heard if NIN are to play with them, but we've heard NIN is playing a secret show around there sometime, but we don't know when.

Nine Inch Nails Top 50 Requested Concert Tours

Pollstar.com's Top 50 Most Requested Concert Tours had Nine Inch Nails coming in as the fifth most requested, which is surprising because they just announced the tour dates for them. This is good news because it means that Nine Inch Nails will likely climb a couple of slots next week (maybe even all the way up to #1), and a great number of people are looking for these dates (and eventually going to the shows when they come around). Another point of interest may be the fact that NIN only has a handful of U.S. dates while the large majority of the other bands on this list has well over 30 or 40 dates on their lists (more dates typically results in a higher number of hits and a higher ranking). Below are the rankings:

1 Jimmy Buffett, 2 Dave Matthews Band, 3 KISS, 4 Smashing Pumpkins, 5 Nine Inch Nails

Manson Announces Label Name, Five To One Cover Not Appearing On Doors Tribute Album

Marilyn Manson posted on his official site yesterday to confirm rumors yesterday, from within the recording studio, that his new record label is in fact called Posthuman Records, which it's parent company is Priority Records. His letter also clarifies that their recording of 'Five To One' will not be appearing on the Door's tribute album unfortunately. Whatever the case was, I'm sure it was a good reason... Also among his latest update is a silent film documenting their environment for our viewing. The silent film can be found in 4 different format speeds using either windows media or real video. Aaliyah Still In The Loop To Collaborate With Trent Reznor

Last year MTV News reported that Aaliyah, who portrays Trish O'Day, the "Juliet" character to Jet Li's "Romeo" in the new film Romeo Must Die, "has hopes to push the boundaries of her musical career further in the form of a collaboration with Trent Reznor," said MTV. Just recently MTV caught up with her for a followup on the topic and she said:

"Well, we met for the first time at the MTV Video [Music] Awards," Aaliyah said, "and we talked for a while and we've talked on the phone a few times. He's a really nice person and extremely talented, so maybe we'll be able to collaborate.

"I think our sounds would really mesh well, so I'll bring a little something to the table, he'll bring something, and we'll see how it works."

MTV's article also features this interview in real video, which you can listed here.

Charlie Clouser (NIN keyboardist) will remix a SplatterCell track next month. SplatterCell is guitarist David Torn's new project. David Torn was elected "Best Experimental Guitarist" by the readers of "Guitar Player Magazine".

"The remix should be released on 75arc records," explained Morpheus TechnoPagan. Charlie defines the remix as "a strange hunk of noise"!

Charlie Clouser Comments About A Perfect Circle

Considering that A Perfect Circle will open for NIN in the US, Morpheus TechnoPagan asked Charlie Clouser's opinion about Maynard's side-project. "I've also asked if Charlie would consider working someday with A Perfect Circle," explained Morpheus.

"I've heard a bunch of the APC stuff and I'm jealous, because I think it sounds great. I didn't get to work with them on it, but I'd be up for something, for sure."
You can read more in the "News" section of "The Remix Files."

In the latest issue of Rolling Stone (with rapper DMX on the cover) they have a CD review of The The's NakedSelf. They give it three stars. "I think it deserves all 5," explained Clowne517, "but that's them and 3 isn't too shabby for a band pratically no one has heard of (in the United States anyways)."

The Wretched Possibly The Next NIN Single

The official Nine Inch Nails website uploaded their semi-daily photo page yesterday with a 26.20 second QuickTime video clip of Trent Reznor silently singing lyrics to The Wretched. I bet you're wondering if this recording is the US single Trent has been working on with Alan Moulder? (Please read our March 18th headline, "Next NIN Single To Be A US Release" for more info.)

The vocals, however, differ slightly from the backing vocals on the album version, and the music you can hear, although extremely tinny and most likely only audible through Trent's headphones, also sounds different. Is this, what we are hearing, actually another version much like Trent is prone to do on remix albums and singles?

Well, judging by your recent response to our Nothing News Poll we held earlier this month. Nearly 12,000 people voted The Wretched as the next best single... with "The Big Come Down" as the runner up. Maybe Trent is listening... or this was the plan all along? I know a single was once to be the title track...

Thanks a lot to: Matt, Hugh, Epichr.s.

KROQ Website Change NIN California Possibility to September

We mentioned on March 14th the official KROQ radio website, listed Nine Inch Nails to tour LA under their June events and to keep listeners tuned in for up coming ticket sale announcements. Apparently, they now say Nine Inch Nails are to tour California in September... I guess the truth will finally be known sometime next week... (Please read our headline "Nine Inch Nails To Hit California In June" for more info.)

Smashing Pumpkins Offered Poor Edgefest 2000 Deal

Samhain, an SLS viewer, contributed some helpful news yesterday about the talked about Edgefest 2000 rumors that have been circulating. Although he doesn't know if this is something indicative of Nine Inch Nails and EdgeFest, he thought he'd shed some light on the SP side. "While listening to the Pumpkins interview on CFNY (2 weeks ago)," he explained, "Billy Corgan was asked about the possibility of the Pumpkins playing EdgeFest 2k." His response was (loosely quoted)"

"Y'know, I wish we could. But the Guy that runs Edgefest offered us the worst piece of crap deal we've ever been offered."
"He then went on to say something about it conflicting with Festival (Fuji I believe) dates in Japan," said Samhain. Just as Samhain aforementioned, "I don't know if this is indicative of what Reznor would or wouldn't do," he explained, "but I know he has a lot of respect for Billy, and if the Pumpkins have a lot more mainstream appeal, he wouldn't do it...can't imagine why NIN would too."

"Personally," Samhain mentioned, "I hope NIN doesn't do EdgeFest...ack, what a fucking disaster that'd be."

NIN's Closer Chosen as Most Controversial Music Video

Last night on VH1's show, The List, the host (Henry Rollins) asked the guest to name their choice for top three most controversial music videos. The actor Malcolm Jamal-Warner (who you may remember as Theo from The Cosby Show) picked Closer as his number one pick. He said that the video bugged the hell out of him and he was speechless when he saw it. Henry Rollin's commented that isn't so controversial as it is captivating, while Carmen Electra likened it to Metallica's "One" music video in its graphic intensity. After the audience narrowed down the picks, closer was one of them. "However," explained Demanda, who watched the program, "the idiotic audience and rest of the panel (Carmen Electra, Master P and some whiny actress) ended up voting Madonna's ("Like A Prayer") as the #1 most controversial music video ever." The second and third most controversial video, according to the List, was the Mark Pellington shot video for Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" (who also directed NIN's "We're In This Together") and REM's "Losing My Religion".

Coal Chamber Briefly Mentioned Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson

In an interview with Coal Chamber drummer, Mike "Bug" Cox, they chatted about tours and sellouts and such. Mike mentioned how he thinks Kittie are sellouts and the interviewer asked what he thought of Trent Reznor. The interviewer also asked about violence in metal music, such as the Columbine incident, and mentioned Marilyn Manson.

master: On the flipside though, the one success story was like Trent Reznor, he also came from a rich family but at least he had the talent

BUG: When he first came out on TVT he got screwed. The first record he made 0. He doesn't take endorsements, no stuff like that. I do respect him. I like Nine Inch Nails, I think they started a good trend for music.

Master: In the last year there have been a lot of issues concerning metal being one of the causes of violence amongst teens, particularly the Columbine incident... what do you have to say about the media trying to blame metal music such as Marilyn Manson?

BUG: Just like Marilyn Manson said, "Why don't they look to the parents". The kids we're making bombs in their garages, I don't think Marilyn Manson taught them how to make a bomb. I think music, especially metal music is definitely a scapegoat because this type of music doesn't care what we say, we don't care if we're on MTV, we don't care if we're on the radio, I think the fans respect that. When were in Maine some kid hung himself supposedly listening to our music. We never say go hang yourself, and even if we did it doesn't mean you should go do it. These kids have other issues obviously.

You can find this interview over at www.antimtv.com at the bottom of this page.

Thanks a lot to: Dave.

Lex Icon References Trent Reznor on Latest Work

In an interview with Lex Icon of the Kovenant, mentioned Trent Reznor in their new style of sound on their latest album.

"We're inspired by a lot of people's idea's," Icon says. " We wanted to do something more like a mixture of disco, techno, electronic stuff, but put metal guitars on it to make it more extreme. There's a little industrial stuff there; like Trent Reznor stuff. Obviously, not as noisy as he does it though. We tried to it more like this trip-hop thing. As long as it's bizarre it's cool."
To read the rest of this interview hop on over to the Animatronic Web. It can be found under the interview section, and it's the second interview of three listed on the page.

Thanks a lot to: Dave.

Phil Barry, an SLS viewer, was informed from a friend who works at his local Tower Records that the Nine Inch Nails Grand Rapids, MI (4/25 Van Andel arena) should go on sale next Saturday (3/25). Although ticketmaster has yet to announce this, we were told it's due to the fact that they are working out some pricing issues.

NIN Fan Wins Trent Reznor Senior High School Yearbook On Ebay!

The original owner of the 1983 Trent Reznor yearbook wrote us to congratulate the $960 winner!

"I just wanted to tell you the outcome of the auction," explained the owner. "We had a pretty heat bidding war going on in the last few hours, and then minutes." So close, it came down to two people... "The winner of the yearbook was 'TheBlackDahlia79' with the high bid of $960.00," the original owner explained. "Yes," commented the original owner, "she wanted it really bad!"

So congratulations to her. We hope she enjoys it! By the way, for those wondering, we were given permission to use her screen name.

Below is the description of the yearbook from the original auction:

Nine Inch Nails Trent Reznor's High School year book. Graduated from Mercer, PA in 1983. See how he looked while in High School. As with any senior yearbook, there are several pictures of him. For instance he was in the senior play called "Once A Upon A Mattress." A must have for a hard core Nine Inch Nails fan. As with any yearbook there are a few pages with writing on them. The book is in excellent condition.

Nine Inch Nails & Smashing Pumpkins Still Likely To Headline Edgefest 2000 - Details Still Sketchy

Kyle Clarke, an SLS viewer, just finished listening to his local radio station in Ottawa, Ontario called XFM. "After they played Nine Inch Nails Into The Void," explained Kyle, "they said Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins may be going on this year's Edgefest, but details are still sketchy at this time."

"So seeing the European festival dates," explained Kyle, "it looks to me anyway Nine Inch Nails won't play Edgefest unless they change the time of year Edgefest is to accommodate Nine Inch Nails." He continued, "normally Edgefest runs from late June to Mid July, however in 1997 they did do the Western Leg in August to get Silverchair to play on it." We will just see what happens.

For more information about Edgefest 2000, please read our February 15th headline, "Edgefest 2000 Headliners Announced Including Nine Inch Nails" for more info.

Hurricane & Southside NIN Dates + Flyers

Nils Schlüter, an SLS viewer, wrote us this afternoon to give us the heads up on the Hurricane and Southside festivals. "I'm in contact with the guys from Scorpio concerts," explained Nils, "which is the company who runs the two German festivals, called HURRICANE and SOUTHSIDE."

They told him that Nine Inch Nails will play the Hurricane Festival on Saturday, June 24th and the Southside Festival on Sunday, June 25th. "So if NIN will play at the Glastonbury festival there is only space on Friday, 23rd of June," explained Niles. (Please read our headline below for more information about Glastonbury festival.)

These two festivals take place at the same weekend, Hurricane is in northern Germany (between Hamburg and Bremen) and Southside takes place near Stuttgart, which is in the south of Germany. both festivals have (nearly) the same billing and will exchange the bands on the second day.

Nine Inch Nails Confirmed For Quart Festival 2000

It seems the Norwegian newspapers "Dagbladet" have confirmed Nine Inch Nails to play at this year's Quart festival in Kristiandsand.

"They had a few new names for the Quart festival in Kristiandsand," explained Johannes who read today's paper, "and among Oasis and Cradle of Filth, Nine Inch Nails are confirmed to play." The paper said the festival dates are to take place between July 4th - 8th '00.

Although the newspaper is in Norwegian, you can read the article here. Last year's festival included such acts as Marilyn Manson, Blur, Fatboy Slim, Massive Attack and The Cardigans to just name a few.

Mictian, an SLS viewer, wrote us on March 5th to inform us he had a brief chat with the Quart festival chief, which he confirmed they had booked NIN for this year's festival. "I talked to Toffen Gundersen," added Mictian, "he said that they had booked NiN, but that they couldn't go public with it before April." (Please read our March 7th headline "Nine Inch Nails A Possible Contender On This Years Quarts Festival?" for more info.)

Trent Reznor wrote us on March 3rd to confirm that they would play a few festivals in Europe, so this may be one of the few. (Please read our headline "Trent Reznor Comments To SLS News About Richard Patrick, US Tour Dates Nearly Here & Rehearsing Oh My!" for more info). Other festivals Nine Inch Nails are confirmed to play, according to the official festival websites, is this years's Hurricane, Roskilde and even possibly the Glastonbury festival.

According to the official Hurricane newsletter and website it's official. Other acts who are to join the two date festival on June 24th and 25th with Nine Inch Nails are Deine Lakaien, Ani Difranco, Die Firma, Eat No Fish, Element of Crime, Filter, Fink, Fu Manchu, Giant Sand, Gomez, HIM, Jamiroquai, Laika, Live, Macy Gray, Missing Link, Moby, Rico, Rollins Band, Therapy?, Tonic, The Tea Party and Uncle Ho. For more information please read our February 14th headline, "Possible Nine Inch Nails Performances At Germany's 'Hurricane Festival' June 2000."

Tomm, an SLS viewer, wrote us on March 16th with some information about this year's Roskilde festival. The official festival website said this on their March 16th headline, "According to the homepage of Iron Maiden, Nine Inch Nails will also play Roskilde June 29th." This year's festival kicks off on June 29th and plays to July 2nd.

Although it hasn't been confirmed, NME.com seem to think Nine Inch Nails might play at this year's Glastonbury Festival. Below is the NIN blurb featured in this link.

"David Bowie is to headline Glastonbury on Sunday night while Chemical Brothers are tipped to play Friday. Other acts in the frame include Nine Inch Nails...."
Glastonbury will take place on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of June, some dates coincide with the Hurricane Festival, but there's still some hope for Glastonbury goers who want to see NIN even though this has not been confirmed.

"They said that the Chicago (4/21) tickets were going to go on sale next Saturday (3/25)," explained Bob, "but at the moment, they did not know what venue they would be playing." Next NIN Single To Be A US Release

As tour dates become announced and venues sell out, Nine Inch Nails still rehears day-by-day for this year's most anticipated US tour. Not only is the gang gearing up with countless rehearsals, the next Nine Inch Nails single is in the works. According to Trent Reznor's latest post on his official Nine Inch Nails discussion board, he's currently working on the latest single with Alan Moulder.

"I'm in the studio with Alan Moulder! We're working on some things for the next single (which WILL be released in the US) and then it's off to LA for the final phase of rehearsals before the tour. See you there!"

Thanks a lot to: mike, HELENA.

Holy Wood Not Canceled, Manson To Broadcast Video Transmission from Inside Studio

Marilyn Manson posted a new letter to his fans in his discussion board on March 16th to clarify that Holly Wood has not been cancelled beyond popular belief. "I have just decided to focus on the album and the 2 books first so that my story can be enjoyed or hated in its true form," said Manson. He also explained while the books of images is still being created, "the novel Holy Wood has been written for some time." He adds, "It is not an adaptation of the script and it is not a "graphic novel." Although the story and style aren't exactly conventional, it is a traditional novel in every other aspect."

Marilyn Manson also noted that he is to broadcast a video transmission from within the studio. "In this," Manson explained, "I will clarify some of the rumors and answer the questions you have regarding my record label and the aforementioned projects."

Web wise, Manson said he is very impressed and pleased that fans are using his BBS to express themselves with inspiring essays and artworks. "Since this Fan Gallery is new," he added, "I'd like to ask everyone to be patient while I create the best method to select pieces for discussion."

Manson said that he wants this gallery to be a place where he chooses things for us to examine and learn from. While some may be funny, and others may be technically superior, or even primitive or simply horrible. Manson told his fans in his post that he would not make this a competition. "...Art is subjective and I am not in a position to decide if something is better than the rest. No one is."

Not only is Manson impressed with the fans essays and artworks, he's surprised by the extensive research some of fans are doing. "Everyone is beginning to tap into the same frequency," said Manson. "I added a link to briandeneke.org, a memorial page for the teenager I spoke about at Disinfo Con. I encourage you to visit this one."

Thanks a lot to: stefano.

Richard Patrick Upset With NIN's Fragile Sales

The official website for Chicago Sun-Times interviewed Filter frontman Richard Patrick and is now online to read here. Strangely enough, the former live NIN guitarist has a new opinion about Trent Reznor's The Fragile. Once telling the press bluntly how much he hated The Fragile, Richard is now very upset that Trent Reznor's critically acclaimed album is not quite meeting the standards he once thought it had... Richard also commented about Marilyn Manson's Mechanical Animals glam-rock shtick and how Richard uses his own shtick to say what he wants...

Question: Your feud with Trent Reznor is well known. Is it satisfying for you to see Filter outselling Nine Inch Nails?

Richard: That's a shocker. It just blows my mind that Trent's having such a hard time selling this record. I always thought I'd be sort of morbidly happy or revengefully happy if I did better than Trent, but really it's the other way around. I don't like this at all.

Question: Does the fickleness of the current alternative audience worry you?

Richard: In all honesty, it's all about songwriting. If you can make a song that's good and that makes people feel something, that's the battle. It's not about shtick with us. We wear nicer clothes than most folks, I guess, but there's no shtick with us. The shtick is that we're brutally honest and all we care about is our music and our sound.

I think kids can smell a rat. Once they figure out that if I wasn't being genuine or real, that's what's killing these guys. Look at [Marilyn] Manson. He changes his shtick from going to hell to being Mr. Glam-Rock, and people are just like over it. Was it ever about the song, the chorus, the music for you, Mr. Manson? That's what I would ask. That's what the whole deal is: I'm in this industry to make beautiful music, and that's all I can do. If I keep true to myself and continue to write music that I really love, I think it will always be there.

In related news, Cane, a VH1 DJ, mentioned on air (February 16th) the on going feud between Richard Patrick and Trent Reznor. According to Whortney Love, an SLS viewer, Cane mentioned the quote Trent Reznor wrote SeemsLikeSalvation News, which was about all of our headlines between the one sided feud.
On March 16th, as I was watching Vh1, dj Cane, mentioned the on going feud between Richard Patrickand Trent Reznor. Cane also went on to say that Reznor said, " if you were in Nine Inch Nails what else would you talk about?"
Please read our March 3rd headline "Trent Reznor Comments To SLS News About Richard Patrick, US Tour Dates Nearly Here & Rehearsing Oh My!" for more information.

An sls viewer named MSD attend the Filter - Milwaukee, WI gig on March 15th and posted some comments to his website Richard made about Trent Reznor during his set. This is MSD's review of the concerts:

Well well, that was an interesting Filter show last night. (Milwaukee, WI) Mr. Patrick is a real comedian...for example:

- "Fuck Trent Reznor...Fuck Courtney Love...Fuck the Bakestreet Boys...I'd fuck Britney Spears, but fuck her too" (later on...)
- "yea...Britney, she knows who I am, but I'd still fuck her in the ass and not call her the next day." (still later on when a "fan" was talkin shit he says...)
- "hey come on now...I don't come into Burger King and bother you while you're workin now do I?"

Although...when he first took the mic, I raised up the NIN logo from my shirt so he could see, and yea...he saw it alright. He sorta hunched over the mic stand and stared at me for at least 20 seconds, hehe holy shit, I thought for sure he was gonna say something...but nah, he looked like the gay cowboy from the Village People though, what the hell is up with that outfit??? It was some tight cowboy lookin blue jeans, a wifebeater with a red flannel over it, a cowboy hat, and these huge mirrored glasses...ack, his mom still dresses him funny. He also said that the song 'Take A Picture' was just an excuse to infiltrate the likes of Mariah Carey & the Backstreet Boys on "MTV", and that we should vote alot to have it beat them...mmm hm, welcome to the fold motherfucker.

Thanks a lot to: Curt Myers.

Promote Nine Inch Nails With LoudSide.com & Get Free NIN Stuff!!

According to a newsletter sent from LoudSide.com, they are accepting street team members to sign up and promote Nine Inch Nails and they have a lot of free goodies to give out to the first 300 members. Below are the key points in the email that are worth posting for those who would like to join Loud Side in their quest for fans:

The tour kicks off April 12 in Cleveland, and we are lucky enough to be able to help promote it. We will need everyone who wants to be involved to go here and sign up. It will be on a first come first serve basis, so if you want to get in, go sign up NOW!! Because, obviously, the team space is limited, and will fill-up soon, we need to put everyone to a little test first. Go to 10 websites with guestbooks, or yahoo or aol message boards, or wherever you feel like it, and post the following. Then copy the urls and put them in the URL blanks on the signup sheet.

This will be a rad campaign, and the first 300 people who pass the test and sign up will receive a ton of NIN paraphnelia from the Loudside stash including NIN and Loudside t-shirts, vinyl, and copies of NIN's latest cd the fragile. We will also have some rad shit to give away at the end of the campaign, including custom made Loudside/Nine Inch Nails snowboards.  At this time, as most of the tour is still not confirmed or announced, we are not sure what cities we will be activating teamers in, as it will depend on the tour markets. But it's 43 dates, so pretty much if you are in a major or big secondary market, and you sign up you will be activated. The confirmed markets are Mineapolis, Madison, Cleveland, LA, NYC, Columbus, Grand Rapids, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Detroit, and dates for most of these shows are at the bottom of this email. And even if the tour doesn't come to your town, don't worry because you can still sign up and get in on the action on our virtual team, and help promote online.

What they basically want you to do is spam the Internet with their promotional newsletter about the US Nine Inch Nails tour. Although you might get free NIN goodies; I wouldn't totally recommend the ditto pages of their letter all over the net.

Thanks a lot to: NIN1980NIN.

Many Members of Slipknot Influenced By Nine Inch Nails

Rabea Khan, an SLS viewer, was watching Rage on Australia's ABC Channel on Saturday night. "Slipknot were hosting and they chose to play NIN's "Wish" and "March of the Pigs," explained Rabea. "Before the videos came on the guy with the Pig face (Number 2) said that the next video is by NIN, which is very influential to some members of Slipknot and that if you haven't got The Fragile you should get off your ass, save some money and buy it."

Columbus, Ohio Tickets Nearly Sold Out!

The Columbus, Ohio (April 15th) tickets, which went on sale 10am today are nearly sold out. So those who live in the area and or plan to buy your NIN/APC tickets, buy them ASAP. Below are two stories from fans who bought their tickets today only to learn... they should have bought them sooner...

My friend skipped school early and got tickets at 10:00 and he was about 5th in line to find out the floor had already been sold out but luckily we got seats. I would say the whole concert should be sold out by about 11:30 today.
Just to let you know, I just got back from waiting for nin tickets for the columbus, ohio show. They're going fast, I was the third person in line and my seats are not incredible. The line was long (about a block) plus it was pouring the rain. You guys might want to spred the word that if anyone wants a ticket they sould get there very soon because the tickets will be gone soon will not be.

Thanks a lot to: CFRiddle, Ian.

Notice To NIN Fans Attending Concerts

We will be accepting reviews, tickets scans, photos and or other memorabilia you may intercept while attending this year's concerts. We made a lot of coverage with last years "Fragility v1.0" tour, thanks to you all, and I'm sure with this years tour we can do it again. In the mean time, I am revising a lot of our World Tour Diary and hope to have everything updated and tweaked by the opening April 12th gig.

NIN/APC Tour Travels In A Circle, Toronto Possibly In May?

Brent, who wrote us yesterday about Edge102, is back with some extra info about the Toronto NIN/APC date. "I was listening to the Edge102 again last night eagerly waiting for announcement of the NIN date to play Toronto." When he almost had given up listening they played We're In This Together. "So I waited to see if again the DJ would mention the show," he explained, "and sure enough he did." He talked about the 10 week tour with 45 dates, which came from Monday's Nothing Records press release. The DJ asked himself a question; "will NIN make their way to Toronto?"... "You bet!," answered the DJ." The DJ mentioned Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle were to travel in a circular motion and could be in Toronto as early as May. "Then the DJ commented that it will be exciting to see Reznor and crew," explained Brent." Although he didn't actually say the date, Brent thinks he will get into more detail later on this week."

"After the DJ said all that," said Brent, "he announced a poll for the Fragile." The poll was what side do you like more the Left or Right disc. The DJ said that he prefers the Right disc although the Left disc has really great tracks. "I personally like the Left a little better," commented Brent, "but that's my opinion."

About a half-hour later the results were in. "The Right disc was in first with 70% and the Left 30%," explained Brent. "Then the DJ said the Right disc was stronger but oh well as long as people are buying the album, and that everyone should have The Fragile." Then the DJ finished the topic of NIN topic by saying, "yes, Nine Inch Nails are coming soon!" I can't wait until NIN come back to Toronto so I can see them again.

Into The Void Heard In New Movie Final Destination

Scott, an SLS viewer, wrote us last night to explain, "Last night I went to a sneak preview of the new movie "Final Destination". In once scene, a character driving in his car is listening to the NIN single "Into the Void". "There's maybe 20-30 seconds of the song in the movie," he explained, "and the first line of lyrics that you hear is "Pictures in my head of the final destination." Scott explained, "I thought [the movie] was good. It's a pretty silly horror movie, but it's also pretty scary." He said, "a lot of good, suspenseful scenes - and it scared the crap out of my girlfriend."

NIN/APC To Hit Toronto, Edgefest 2000 Still In The Picture?

Brent, an SLS viewer, tuned in to his local radio station last night and picked up some new word on Fragility v2.0 in Canada and some concert info concerning Edgefest 2000.

Once NIN's latest single "Into The Void" finished it's spin on the radio, the DJ told his listeners that he knows the offical date that NIN are coming to Toronto, but couldn't announce it. "However," commented Brent, "he did say he would announce the date within the week." Brent also explained, "he also said nine inch nails may not play edgefest." The DJ explained they still might play edgefest, but there is a possibility they may not play.

Possible Charlie Clouser / Deftones Collaboration?

Morpheus TechnoPagan, the webmaster of the Charlie Clouser remix website "The Remix Files," asked Charlie Clouser recently if he has any future plans to work with Deftones' forthcoming album "White Pony."

Further to the persisting rumors mentioning an eventual participation of C. Clouser to the forthcoming Deftones album (called "White Pony"), I've asked Charlie if he has any plan to work again with the Deftones. Charlie Clouser already did an excellent remix of "My own summer (shove it)" in 1999

He told that he intended to produce -or co-produce- the new Deftones album, but the project was canceled due to incompatible schedules... However, Charlie would like to remix some tracks off the new Deftones album. Charlie also mentioned a possible collaboration between Chino Moreno (Deftones singer) and himself! Chino will perhaps sing on a track written by Charlie, but he didn't specify if that was for another side-project or Tapeworm.

Clouser fans who would like to read more concerning this possible collaboration with the Deftones, jump on over to "The Remix Files" and choose the "News" section.

The Official A Perfect Circle Website Confirms April 12th Nine Inch Nails Gig, Nine Inch Nails/A Perfect Circle US Tour Dates Expected Early Next Week

The beautifully designed official A Perfect Circle website, which launched on Feb 22nd, has updated their news page to confirm they will open and begin the North American tour with Nine Inch Nails on April 12th in Cleveland, OH. APC fans should note the first single titled "Judith" hits radio on April 17th and their debut album "Mer De Noms" hits the streets on May 23rd.

Sources say, the tour dates are all set to be announced and according to MTV News we should expect these dates early next week, which means Nothing Records are just waiting for the new week to hype things up. Once the press release is out and about, we'll get it online ASAP.

For more information about these stories please read our March 8th headline "Tool's Side Band "A Perfect Circle" To Open For Nine Inch Nails?" and yesterday's headline "A Perfect Circle Confirmed To Open For Nine Inch Nails Says The Tool Page" to get the full scoop.

The Day The World Went Away Single Still Sells Strong

According to the new Soundscan report, NIN's "The Day the World Went Away" single is still holding strong at #96 selling 1,355 copies. Previous week was #98 selling 1,448 copies. 2 Weeks ago it was at #92. Another interesting note is that the TDTWWA single is one of only 7 other singles in the top 100 to have been on the countdown for over 30 weeks. To date it has sold 286,877 copies. Also, just for some context, it has sold more copies than such radio staples as Rage Against the Machine's "Guerilla Radio" and more than twice as many copies as Filter's Dawson's Creek friendly "Take a Picture".

For more information about the past chart status of this single, please read our February 18th headline "NIN's TDTWWA Single Continuously Sells by the Thousands While the Fragile Falls off the Billboard 200."

In the new rolling stone (March 30, 2000, w/ N'Sync on the cover) there's an article and sort of interview with the group P.O.D. and at the bottom there's a pop quiz. A question asked the the member Sonny of the band is:

"If Marilyn Manson changes his name to a symbol, what should it look like?". He responded "I don't know, man! I don't wanna dog the guy or say anything that'll cause chaos. You know, when he first came out, he had the pentagram all over everything, and it was like, 'wow evil'. And then the next album was akk lovey-dovey David Bowie stuff. So the next album, he might be completely different. He's an entertainer, man."

Thanks a lot to: Scabbed777.

Official Amenpill IRC Channel

Nick, an SLS viewer, recently emailed Sebastien Monney from the temporary Amenpill site, and inquired about starting an official Amenpill IRC channel. "He gave me the go ahead," added Nick, "so there's now an official Amenpill IRC channel." The server to log onto is irc.ndrs.com, and if you need info about IRC, go to www.mirc.com. The channel name is #Amenpill, and everyone's welcome. "Sebastien himself logged on after it was set up," explained Nick, "and said he'd check back in occasionally." So, feel free to come check it out.

A Perfect Circle Confirmed To Open For Nine Inch Nails Says The Tool Page

The webmaster of the semi-official Tool Page (toolshed.down.net), wrote us last night to confirm their story with us concerning the Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle (Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan side project) tour team up (please read yesterday's headline "Tool's Side Band "A Perfect Circle" To Open For Nine Inch Nails?" for more info.) was given to them from none other than a extremely reliable source who wished to remain anonymous, which means Nine Inch Nails tour dates are closer than we thought. This also means we should expect to hear official word from the NIN camp any day now concerning specifics of the tour. Although we don't know how long APC will open for NIN, I'm sure this will be addressed in the press release as well. In other related news, we've teamed up with The Tool Page to keep in touch, on both ends of the story, to bring you the latest news concerning the most popular tour to hit the US this year. It's going to be one hell of a year...

Marilyn Manson Disinfo.con Speech In Real Audio

For those who are interested in hearing what Marilyn Manson had to say at Disinfo.con, we were given an address of Manson's speech here in streaming real audio the other day.

K. Rollins, who wrote us last month and reviewed the event, also had his essay about the event published, which was linked from the official site. (For more information, please read our February 22nd headline "Manson Speaks At Disinfo.con; Learn What It Was All About".) The editor of the Disinfo site had this to say about K Rollins:

"This is by far the most honest review of anything I've read that wasn't written by me in a long time. Doesn't necessarily mean I agree with everything this youngster says, but he sure felt the need to say something. Worth a visit here, for a completely different perspective on the day. I don't know how he missed me, as I am nothing like a yuppie, and I have bright green hair. Oh, yeah, he was there for the speakers, and to get smarter, rather than for the audience. Which is kind of funny, because he mentions them a lot. Still, I like this review."
Manson's management mentioned to me yesterday that they will be uploading the speech later today on their news section. Our link to the speech is for high-speed users only, so we would assume they'd feature more than one speed for the unfortunate users.

Thanks a lot to: K. Rollins.

Nine Inch Nails Concert Footage Displayed On Screen During Canadian Music Industry Awards Dinner

We were informed yesterday at the Canadian Music Industry Awards dinner in Toronto last Thursday night, Universal Music chairman Ross Reynolds was inducted into the Hall of Fame. "They ran a long video in which several co-workers and artists expressed their praise for him," explained Liisa who was there. Although she can't remember the person's name, one said the first time she met Ross was at a NIN concert. "Universal is the Canadian distributor of Interscope," added Liisa, "and handles TVT as well so I'm not sure when she was talking about". Amongst this sea of black, "there he was," she added, "this executive guy, digging the music. That's when she knew he was cool. During her bit, they played NIN concert footage on half the screen."

Track Listing Places For Marilyn Manson Tribute Album

Things have been pretty slow the past few weeks concerning the Marilyn Manson tribute album, but thankfully BrokeBox, who covered "Wish" on the Nine Inch Nails tribute album "Radiant Decay," gave us a their tracklisting places, which consist of 12 covers of multiple bands.

Track 3 "Cake And Sodomy" - Broke Box
Track 6 "Reflecting God" - Broke Box
Track 12 "Antichrist Superstar" - Razorblade Smilem f/ guest vocal appearances by Richard and Robert "Spooky Kid" Pierce.
"I was also informed that Bile did a cover of Tourniquet," explained BrokeBox, which he mentioned he'd have the rest of the track listing soon. "I would also like to thank everyone for participating in our NIN Radiant Decay CD give away contest," said BrokeBox." They mentioned that you can expect another give away in the near future for the Marilyn Manson tribute being released on Dwell Records in the coming weeks. You can also visit their page to hear a new sample of Computer Love from the Kraftwerk tribute "Cracking the Code". Sound files of the Manson covers will be posted shortly on their website as well.

Tool's Side Band "A Perfect Circle" To Open For Nine Inch Nails?

The unofficial Tool website (toolshed.down.net) updated their news website today to explain A Perfect Circle, a side band by Tool's frontman Maynard James Keenan, will be opening for Nine Inch Nails on April 12th in Cleveland. Although the official website for A Perfect Circle (www.aperfectcircle.com) has yet to update their pages, this is what Tool Shed had to say:

[3/8/00] - While Tool continues work on the next album, Maynard has been keeping doubly busy. His other band (A Perfect Circle) will be releasing their first album "Mer De Noms" ("Sea of Names") on Virgin Records on May 23, according to a story from our favorite network (MTV), available in the Articles section of this site. Even more exciting, A Perfect Circle will be opening for Nine Inch Nails starting in Cleveland on April 12. It's looking to be a good spring.
We we're informed from a reliable source 4 days ago that A Perfect Circle was almost certain to open for Nine Inch Nails, which it would have been announced very soon. Although, we didn't believe it would have been announced from an unofficial website, we were told there are huge marketing plans for this album, which would spell good things for Nine Inch Nails just as well... At this point this is still unconfirmed and I hope to get an answer from Nothing Records very soon.

Here are how APC and NIN are also connected:

1. Billy Howerdel: guitar tech for NIN and Tool.
2. Maynard: a guest on the forthcoming Tapeworm recording
3. Alan Moulder: mixed the new APC recording and produced The Fragile

Thanks a lot to: Lokbod, singe, Thayne, prixfix.

Twiggy Ramirez Spotted At The Hollywood Palladium

Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson was spotted at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday (March 4) for the coming out party for the newly-launched KNAC.com. (the famous hard rock radio station in Los Angeles that went off the air a few years back) AllStar News features an exclusive shot with Anthrax's Scott Ian and Marilyn Manson's Twiggy Ramirez hanging out backstage. Check out their miss truth section for more information.

Marilyn Manson Outfit At The Metropolitan Museum of Art

linda, an SLS viewer, recently went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art and noticed an exhibit there call "Rock Style," which has many outfits of performers such as Elvis, The Beatles, Jim Morrison, Kiss to name a few. "And they had one of Marilyn Manson," added Linda, "it was the black patent leather pants (from Lip Service) with the elastic strips (ribs) black top and short platform creeper shoes." She thinks the exhibit will stay open til March 19th.

Amenpill Comments About Prick & New The The Album, Download Their Latest MP3 Called 'RingMaster'

Frontman Sebastien Monney of Amenpill, who was a former member of Prick years back, wrote us this week with a small update concerning some new music of theirs now online. "I have a small update for your readers," said Sebastien, "mainly a new song which we've been working on among others, titled 'Ringmaster'." The guys of Amenpill have upload a full mp3 demo version on their temporary site. "I will leave this song on-line for a couple of weeks," commented Sebastien, "so everyone should come get it while it's there..." Were told the site is undergoing some major changes so it's just a front page with a couple of links for the moment.

Apparently Sebastien has been asked quite a few times the past few months and wanted to comment, just for the record, that he is not working on the new Prick album on Nothing Records. "I haven't been involved in Prick for quite awhile and I am unaware if a new record is in the making," comments Sebastien who was the former bass player, "but I do hope there will be a new record at some point, like everybody!" For more information about the latest Prick album, please read our February 28th headline "NIN Fan Asked Trent Reznor About Prick's New Album."

In other news, Sebastien recently picked up the new The The record, which came out on February 29th. "It's fantasMAtic," he said, "it's good to hear some quality stuff coming out on Nothing Records again, besides The Fragile of course."

Former Prick Guitarist Recording With Zeromancer

"Former Prick guitarist Chris Schleyer is playing with my mates from Norway who are called Zeromancer", explained nodie. Their official website www.zeromancer.com, which was built all in FLASH, is very comprehensive and will take some time to load, but features an interesting bio about how they all got together. There is audio samples of their work, which you can download... "Zeromancer used to be known as seigmen," said Nodi, "but they've changed the line up and name..."

I mentioned Chris Schleyer to Sebastien Monney yesterday, which he said, "Of course, Chris and I are very good friends (we lived together in the Prick years) and have worked together on various other projects since)." Sebastien also said, "He told me he has recently joined a band called ZEROMANCE, (just as our report above) and he is playing a few shows in Norway right now as we speak, where the other 3 guys are from." Sebastien told me they all met in LA where this Norwegian band where recording and looking for a guitar player. "I don't know if he still plays with Kidneythieves as well or not," commented Sebastien. "We also spoke about me hoping over to California to do some final production and mixing for Amenpill, where I would most definitely have him involved." He explained, "Chris is simply the best guitar player I've worked with and has an excellent musical ear, plus we've gone through so much together that we know to live our ego outside the studio door...and simply work together and be supporting of one another in whatever we do."

Only if we heard word from Prick frontman Kevin McMahon... Prick reunion anyone?

Trent Reznor Records A Score for Christblood?

Featured in the March 2000 issue of Esquire magazine (a British men's magazine) is a monthly article called "This Way Out," written by Larry Doyle. This months topic, now on stands with Dylan McDermott on the cover (shown right), is about the controversial movie director Martin Pinol, who is behind the upcoming film "Christblood" and how he expresses his freedom of expression on page 248. Apparently Christblood, which is a movie about Jesus and the resurrection, was scored by Trent Reznor said the director.

"Christblood is my attempt to come to terms with the divine mystery of the Resurrection, and most certainly not "a zombie picture with Jesus as an undead killing machine," as Mr. William Donohue, president of the Catholic League, recently claimed. It is worth noting that Mr. Donohue based his review on an early test screening, before any of the effects were laid in, and yet chose to condemn Christblood WITHOUT HAVING SEEN A SINGLE FOOT OF THE COMPLETED FILM. Had he viewed the final cut, with its 234 digital effects and Trent Reznor score, perhaps Mr. Donohue would have seen CHRISTBLOOD for the devout piece of entertainment it is."
Pinol, who is known as the director of the award winning music video "(I Need a 'Ho' with a) Big Ho" for Best Banned Video at the '98 MTV Video Music Awards and also known as the writer/director behind the '98 Valentine's Day weekend box-office champ, "Dead Girls Don't Cry" explained that Donohue's poor review and hatred for his movie had New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani ban it from being advertised on city buses. "I have been excommunicated, and Politically Incorrect suddenly isn't returning my calls." Among this article, the director explained, "the premiere of my film at the recent Twin Cities Film Festival was ruined when the projectionist opened the film canisters only to find them filled with blood." He continued, "I cannot prove this was the WORK OF RIGHT-WING RELIGIOUS ZEALOTS, but somebody must have done it, just as somebody bribed my female escort at that event to begin talking in the voice of my dead grandmother at a most inopportune time, pleading with me to destroy christblood and devote the rest of my life to prayer."

I'm sure a few of you, if not all, are wondering... what else can we dig up on Mr. Pinol? After giving a quick search with the limited resources we have at this time of night. I searched his past work through the Internet Movie Database and CDNow, and unfortunately found nothing, although we wrote Trent Reznor yesterday in hope he will shed some light on the subject.

Thanks a lot to: Bish and Dope.

Nine Inch Nails A Possible Contender On This Years Quarts Festival?

Mictian, an SLS viewer, mentioned to us that Nine Inch Nails may play at the Quarts festival this year, "I talked to Toffen Gundersen (The Quart festival chief)," commented Mictian, "he said that they had booked NiN, but that they couldn't go public with it before April." Just add one more to the list then... Until Nothing Records confirms our reports concerning these festivals and or dates, reports such as Quarts, Edgefest 2000 among many others, (that haven't already been confirmed from official players) should be considered rumors unless noted other wise.

P.O.D. Comments About Marilyn Manson On MTV's 120 Minutes

Manson was mentioned on 120 minutes on MTV early yesterday morning. The group P.O.D. who is very Christian said that they had a studio run-in with Marilyn Manson. Here was the conversation:

Chris Tucker (host): I heard you guys met Marilyn Manson?
P: Yea
CT: well what was that like? Was it a big clash of beliefs?
P: No, he was real cool.
CT: what was he wearing?
P: just normal Marilyn Manson stuff.
CT: oh like blue jeans and a nike shirt?
P: (laughs) not exactly, he had leather pants on and a black shirt. He had a real nice car too.
CT: oh what does Marilyn Manson drive?
P: I think it was a 99 Audi. It had tinted windows and silver rims.
CT: well there goes about half of Marilyn Manson's fanbase right there.
P: he's cool though. I like that dope show song.

KROQ Radio Reports Trent Reznor Comment About Richard Patrick

It seems 92.3 KROQ has aired our Trent Reznor comments he addressed to us about Richard Patrick and all his trash talk yesterday. (Read our March 3rd headline "Trent Reznor Comments To SLS News About Richard Patrick, US Tour Dates Nearly Here & Rehearsing Oh My!" for more information). Craig Strother, an SLS viewer, to us the following:

I just got home from work and happened to hear something interesting on 92.3 (out of New York) during my drive home." He explained, "Before playing 'We're In This Together', the DJ stated that Trent Reznor has finally responded to all the trash-talking Richard Patrick of Filter has been dishing out over the past several weeks. Trent said that he found the situation "amusing", and that "if you are a member of Filter, what else would you have to talk about?"

NIN Mentioned On Mike Bullard

On Friday's episode of "Open Mike With Mike Bullard", which is a Canadian talk show, the lead singer from the musical guest mentioned Nine Inch Nails. "The band was called 'Lullaby Baxter Trio'," explained Tony, "but there were five people in the band. When questioned about this the lead singer said something like, 'Nine Inch Nails is one guy, why can't we be a trio of five?'"

Marilyn Manson Thanked In New Bloodhound Gang CD

The latest Bloodhound Gang CD "Hooray For Boobies" give thanks to Marilyn Manson along with the always-enjoyable (heh) Rob Van Winkle (aka Vanilla Ice). I hope to have an answer from Manson's management later this week with an explanation about how both bands know each other...

Thanks a lot to: ForrestGump315.

Editor's Notes

The past week or so has been extremely busy for me; from not feeling to well and/or not getting enough sleep (even hating my real life job), I haven't had the time to make the normal run of the mill daily updates. But all of that is soon to change thankfully. So just hold onto your butts as I get things under control. =)

Official German Southside/Hurricane Festival Websites Tap NIN To Perform In Europe

Concerning the NIN vs. Filter issue, a juicy tidbit might be that -both- bands are confirmed to perform at the German Southside/Hurricane festivals, (see www.southside.de/bands.htm and www.hurricane.de/deutsch/index2.html). We mentioned on February 25th that the official Hurricane website already confirmed Nine Inch Nails to perform, read our headline "Nine Inch Nails To Headline Hurrican Festivals" for more information, which Southside now confirms. They might be playing on different days (both festivals basically exchange the bands on Saturday vs. Sunday), but even if Richard Patrick can avoid seeing Trent Reznor, he is still going to see a -LOT- of NIN shirts.

Speaking of NIN shirts, an SLS viewer named Alan Hier, who goes to a small college in Ohio, commented, "Filter is coming to play at our school on april 15th. Due to the very small size of our school, it's going to be very easy for me and several other friends (about 10 of us total) to get into the front row of the performance and we'll ALL be wearing NIN shirts. This will probably piss off Dick quite severely. We're probably going to have someone videotape it, and i'll send you any clips we might make."

Entertainment Weekly Mentions "Painful Convictions" and Official Marilyn Manson Website

In the Internet section of the March 10, 2000 issue of Entertainment Weekly (with Pamela Anderson Lee in all her whore-y blonde busty glory), the Painful Convictions site was reviewed and given an A- (pg. 75):

PAINFUL CONVICTIONS: A NINE INCH NAILS SITE (www.9inchnails.com) From the still-beating heart of middle America (Omaha, that is) comes, a NIN fan site, courtesy of creator Matthew Brink. Sure, there's no shortage of online Reznor shrines, but few capture the meditative side of music's favorite tormented soul. Fewer still have ever-changing trivia items in the upper-right-hand corner. All of the basics are here, of course-remixes, downloads, fonts-but the real star is the design: spare, soulful, and dare we say, classy. A-
In the same issue, under the EW Internet section, the official Marilyn Manson website was given the once-over by a panel which included: Gary Coleman, Danni Ashe, Donny Osmond, Jenni Ringley, and Penn Jillette.
SCARY ALTERNA-ROCKER
Marilyn Manson
www.marilynmanson.net
D:3 C:10 H:-1 G:3
Ringley: Aside from the unintelligible opening movie and the meaningless flashing image map with links straight back out of the site, there's, um, Coleman: I can't read this. I don't know what the symbols are. I'm not Gothic, you know?
Jillette: This is so boss.
Osmond: Whatever.
Unfortunately, EW doesn't realize the Manson website is currently still underconstruction.

SPIN Magazine Features Trent Cover Fan Comments In Special Anniversary Edition

In the new issue of SPIN magazine (the one w/ four covers for the 15th anniversary, Madonna, Beastie Boys, Notorious B.I.G., and Nirvana), NIN is mentioned several times. The first is in Going Postal, where as the loyal readers mentioned Trent's Spin Cover. They show the big two page picture which was in original issue, "where trent is in typical pose, head is down, eyes are up, hand on his hand," explained Deadbyedon who owns the issue. The section also features a quote from one of the readers: "IN A YEAR THAT WAS HORRIBLE FOR REAL MUSICIANS AND GENUINE MUSIC, TRENT REZNOR ONCE AGAIN BARED HIS SOUL." - David T. Hunt

Other mail regarding trent is as follows:

TRENT STABILIZED
Thank you for naming Nine Inch Nails' The Fragile 1999's Album of the Year (January). It really stood out amid all the lame, unimaginative, assembly-line pop crap. Your article showed what an intelligent and fragile human being Trent Reznor really is, which made me admire him even more. Simone Cromer
Laurel, Maryland

Trent Reznor notes, "It's real easy to make noise that is pretentious." He should know.
Ross La Haye
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Nine Inch Nails has been my favorite band for five year, and Trent Reznor is a true role model. It makes me feel happy to hear that he is coming out of his depression. Reznor's music has done so much for me, and I just want him to know that he has helped many others, too.
Elizabeth Schwartz
Brooklyn

In a year that was horrible for real musicians and genuine music, Trent Reznor once again bared his soul; in doing so, he crushed the opposition after years of agonizing silence.
David T. Hunt
Concord, New Hampshire

Also in the Going Postal Section, Reader Stats mentioned Trent:
20% Perplexed subscribers who wonder why we put "Chris Gaines" on our cover.
82% Middle-aged X-men fanatics who think TR looks like he's projecting a force field.
83% NIN listeners who think The Fragile is a "wild, zany ride through the spectrum of pop and sultry R&B"
Trent is also mentioned again on page 100 under the heading EGO TRIPPIN'
"Offtsgaem I'm always trying to be nice to everypne. I know what it's like to be a fan, but it's not really how I want to act. I've just finished a fucking show. I don't care that you want to kill yourself. I'm sorry. Too bad." TRENT REZNOR, NINE INCH NAILS, 1996.
In the same 15th anniversary Spin ish, under Politics:
PRETTY HATE MACHINE It's demeaning to the rock'n'roll traditions to blast Nine Inch Nails as dangerous music aimed at "children" or to claim, as [Secretary of Education] William Bennett did on Charlie Rose, that NIN is a far cry from the Rolling Stones. Doesn't he remember "Midnight Rambler", their song about a serial killer? In the 1960's, the British police considered the Stones dangerous enough to arrest them on trump-up drug charges.

Just as the Stones proved to be far more than trash for children, rock's second generation is challenging artistic conventions in ways that are sure to endure. Even proud baby boomer Oliver Stone mined this worldview when he made the film Natural Born Killers--and has Trent Reznor design the soundtrack. yet commentators give more respect to Stone, who is freqeuntly enlisted by the media as a spokesperson for controversial culture. Conservatives may not approve of his penchant for blood and guts, but they can defer to his Oscar nomination; liberals canstand up for him with passion because they've actually seen his movies.
-Ann Powers and Eric Weisbard, "TOPSPIN," September 1995

Finally, a tear-out poster of the last 15 years of SPIN Covers showed all four covers which Trent graced. Yahoo!

Thanks a lot again to: deadbyedon.

Trent Reznor Comments To SLS News About Richard Patrick, US Tour Dates Nearly Here & Rehearsing Oh My!

Trent Reznor wrote SeemsLikeSalvation News this afternoon to explain, "we'll be announcing some US dates VERY soon." Also among the US dates, Trent confirmed that they will be performing a few festivals in Europe, "The tour will be fairly extensive and we'll also be doing some festivals in Europe as well." Currently rehearsing in New Orleans for their North American tour Trent told SLS News, "the band has never sounded better!" With all this awesome news in the works Trent also happened to catch our many Richard Patrick (Filter frontman/ex-nin tour guitarist) headline mentions we featured this week and the months back. "Your reports on Mr. Patrick's seemingly endless comments about me have been entertaining," said Trent. "Rich is a good guy and I love him - and besides - if you were in Filter, what else is there to talk about?" Victory!

Zim Zum Comments About His Attendance At Powerman 5000 Gig

Zim Zum wrote us last night about our headline, "Fan Spots Zim Zum At Powerman 5000 Concert" to correct a comment made by SLS viewer Richard Moyles, who caught up with Zim at the concert.

"I just saw the pm5k write up and was laughing that someone may have missed parts of the show watching me...!?," commented Zim. "I'm friends with Powerman and Dope and had spoken to them a couple days before the show about going." Richard commented that "It seemed likely that Zim would be in attendance since he does manage Dope and lives in Chicago..", which Zim explained that's incorrect and doesn't manage Dope, but "have been friends with them for quite a while." Zim also commented that management is not something he would like to add to his already overwhelming list of duties.

The blond girl, which Richard mentioned, is Zim's girlfriend and although he lives in Chicago, "that doesn't make it mandatory that I go to shows," said Zim. "The guy next to me was Tripp from Dope," commented Zim, "as that should have been easier to figure out seeing as they played about 5 minutes earlier." Zim also mentioned the reason his head was bobbing down to his drink was because for some reason he felt watched.

Zim explained, "Seeing some newer bands just reinforced what I was already feeling. If you lock yourself away from everything else that is going on and just focus on what you as an individual want to hear, you'll end up with something that is truly "NEW". My year locked away was well worth it. I will be trying to see more new bands so you may have to create a special side bar: Where in Chicago is Zim Zum?"

Havoc 2000 Deluxe New Zealand NIN Interview Online In Real Audio

Doug, the SLS viewer who informed us about the Danny Lohner and Charlie Clouser interview last month on the BDO special "Havoc 2000 Deluxe", is back again with the interview encoded in real audio format. As you might remember, this is the interview, which feature the nonsense and disrespectful questions asked by the very laid back, amusing presenters. Since the program is so laid back to the point where they don't care what they say, "the record companies management in Japan apparently declined a Trent Reznor interview, unless a serious script was submitted," explained Doug. So listen for your self in real audio format here... it is pretty funny...

Trent Mentioned in Jane Magazine By His Past College Fling? Updated!

In the March 2000 issue of Jane Magazine, a woman named Andrea Mulrain talks about her fight with cancer and mentions she dated Trent Reznor in their freshamn year at Allegheny College. Background check anyone? Well apparently the Andrea Mulrain's story is true---she even appeared in the NIN book by Martin Huxley. She talked about how she met him and briefly dated him. Here is excerpts from book:

Despite his recollections of being a misfit, Reznor did manage to make a few new friends while at Allepheny. Andrea Mulrain, at the time a seventeen-year-old freshman dated Trent during his college days. "I noticed him within my first few days on campus," she remembers,"just because he looked like an interesting character. He had a different image then--shorter hair, dyed red. He looked like a creative type , so i approached him and asked him if he was from New York, and he said "No, I'm from Mercer." "The first time i saw him perform with Option Thirty, it was immediately obvious that he had star quality and that he a very special talent, even though he was doing covers. The next day was my birthday, and he came to my dorm room and brought me a makeshift birthday cake made out of Twinkies."

Thanks a lot to: Kelly & Shannon, and TheBlackDahlia79 for the book excerpt.

SLS Viewer To Wear NIN Shirt In Front Row of Filter's Tonight Show Performance

Terrence, an SLS viewer, wanted everyone to know that he will be attending the Filter appearance on Jay Leno tonight. "My good friend works there and gives me front row seating," explained Terrence, "so I have decided to wear a NIN shirt to try and get a rise out of Filter boy." As we mentioned before Richard Patrick has taken offence to fans coming to his shows wearing Nine Inch Nail t-shirts. Although Terrence doesn't know if Filter will be interviewed after the performance... he doubts anything will happen, but added, "but you have to try!"

Richard Patrick Gives Nine Inch Nails & The Fragile Yet Another Low Blow

Neil Walker, an SLS viewer, recently bought the March issue of "rock sound" a U.K. rock mag. "It features a 7 page special on the ever annoying Rich Patrick," explained Neil. "And thats right," he commented, "you guessed it, he mentions Trent and has another go at The Fragile."

Are you happy though to see that Filter is no longer just the group of the former Nine Inch Nails guitarist?

RP: As far as i'm concerned i can tell you that their music no longer means anything to me.(Pulls a face of disgust)Really, have you listened to their new album?

Yes, Although it's been overestimated, i think it's great.

RP: Oh yeah, really....(looking like he wished the interviewer were tucking into a plate of cold spinach. Followed by a sympathetic ten second silence and a big sigh). You know what i think? I am proud to have been in two successful groups. I am proud to have achieved credibility in Nine Inch Nails, to have dumped them and to have achieved my own completely and totally different fame with MY own group. Filter is not a solo career of the former Nine Inch Nails guitarist. I also feel that people understand me and seem to support what i'm doing. My songs are unique. They are about me. They are about Filter... They represent what the group is offering, MY group.

Fan Spots Zim Zum At Powerman 5000 Concert

Patrick Moyles, an sls viewer, recently attended the Powerman 5000/Static - X/Dope concert at the Rivera theater in Chicago and in attendance was Zim Zum. This is what he had to say:

I just got back from attending the Powerman 5000, Static - X and Dope concert at the Rivera theater in Chicago. And while sitting up in the balcony, I noticed that Zim Zum was in attendance in the audience. He was sitting their some blonde girl and a few other guys. It seemed likely that he would be in attendance since he does manage Dope and lives in Chicago.. but I knew by his facial features and the maroon hair that it was him. They were there from the beginning until Powerman 5000's encore. I was even lucky enough to get my arm (all that was available) signed by him :-) {he signed it Zim Zum} but I didn't have time to chat between sets. He seemed to enjoy Powerman's performance, he was standing up and bobbing his head to the songs. Pretty cool experience and great concert!

Marilyn Manson Flash Movie On This Weeks "The God And Devil Show"

In this week's episode of 'The God And Devil Show' (flash movie) you can decide the fate of Marilyn Manson. In case you don't know how this weekly movie thing works, they choose a star per week and make this star talk with God and Devil. At the end, you send the star to heaven or hell. "They are usually funny," comments a viewer, "however, the Manson movie isn't as good as some of the other I've seen."

Australian Rolling Stone (March 2000) features Trent on the cover. The interview inside doesn't really have anything new, just the same old information but there are some really good photos of Trent and the band. There are about five new full page pictures.

Charlie Clouser Records With Page Hamilton on Tapeworm and Hamilton's Forthcoming Solo Album

Charlie Clouser wrote The Remix Files webmaster, Morpheus TechnoPagan, to confirm that he was in the studio last week working with Page Hamilton in New Orleans. Page is the former Helmet singer / guitarist, who went on tour recently with David Bowie to promote his "Hours" album...

"Charlie and Page co-wrote and recorded almost ten songs!," explained Morpheus, "Some tracks are meant for the Page Hamilton forthcoming solo album and some others for the Tapeworm project."

You can read the content of Charlie's e-mail in the "News" section of "The Remix Files". Charlie also describes the content of some of his last week recordings. "There are a few very heavy songs with Helmet-style guitar married to hype programmed beats," explained Charlie Clouser, "as well as some ambient-ish dark songs with no drums, and even a fast four-on-the-floor track with lots of dark tones."

If you want to find out more about these two projects, you will also findÊthe "Page Hamilton" and "Tapeworm" pages in the "Collaborations" section of "The Remix Files".

KTCL Radio Announce Possible NIN Denver Gig; NIN Tour Around the Corner? Something Is Going On...

According to the 93.3 KTCL mailing list, they have announced a possible North American NIN tour date. Considering, just as they said in the letter, this tentative tour date is unconfirmed, so take it with a grain of salt, just as you would with any other unconfirmed date. "This is for the Denver, CO area," explained Jason who also received the newsletter. We should expect a press release from Nothing Records any day now with confirmed North America dates... Below is the newsletter sent out to registered KTCL mailing list users.

KTCL Concert Flash -

This just in...

Nine Inch Nails on March 30th or 31st
The date will be confirmed shortly, but expect the on sale date to be coming up on March 10th.

The Cure on June 5th or 6th
Again, the date has not been confirmed, but we'll know for certain very soon. Warning! Expect the ticket price for this show at Fiddler's Green to be very high.

In other news, the official Nine Inch Nails website updated their semi-daily updated photo section with a picture of nin roadies unloading concert equipment. The caption reads, "Equipment Load-In 2-29-00 New Orleans." At least this is a confirmation that SOMETHING is going on, although the NIN.com webmaster said on Tuesday night in response to a question about whether or not the equipment was just now coming back from Australia.
i think it's been sitting somewhere in the states for a little while. it came down to nola today in two 18-wheelers. rehearsals are upon us once again...

Melody Maker Say NIN Tipped For UK BDO, NME Also Say NIN To Tour Glastonbury Festival

According to an article written in last weeks Melody Maker, Nine Inch Nails have been tipped to play at this years Big Day Out rock festival at Milton Keynes in June. Here's the article, which includes some quotes from Richard Patrick. It seems Richard is a little upset about being bumped from the gig to make room for NIN?

NINE INCH NAILS TIPPED FOR BIG DAY OUT
Nine Inch Nails are tipped to this year's Big Day Out rock festival at Milton Keynes. The festival was first held in June last year when Marilyn Manson famously bared his ass. Organisers say this year's festival is still being worked on and could not confirm whether Trent Reznor's band would appear. But Richard Patrick, lead singer of US rockers Filter, claims he has been shunted from the bill so that NIN can appear. The Filter frontman quit the Nine Inch Nails touring band a few years ago after an unhappy spell on the road. He told the Maker: "Politically, I know there's some bullshit at Big Day Out. We really wanted to be in Big Day Out, but someone from my past was fucking with me. We're gonna play our own shit in clubs because 'there might be friction between the two artists', apparently, and he's a little bit bigger than us for some reason. At least that's what the promoter said to my management and record company." Richard now refuses to discuss his time with Reznor, explaining: "I just feel like I've given him too much free press."
Also, NME.com seem to think that NIN might be playing this years Glastonbury Festival. Below is the NIN blurb featured in this link.
"David Bowie is to headline Glastonbury on Sunday night while Chemical Brothers are tipped to play Friday. Other acts in the frame include Nine Inch Nails...."
Glastonbury will take place on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of June, some dates coincide with the Hurricane Festival, but there's still some hope for Glastonbury goers who want to see NIN.

Manson To Publish Novel & Coffee-Table Book Based On Holy Wood, Manson Adds "Holy Wood" To New Album Title, Album Expected Fall 2000

The official Marilyn Manson website is chalk full of good fun and exploring now with it's new revamped website and lots of good useful information to look forward to during the new year...

The official news website explained that there have been many rumors circulating about Marilyn Manson's film project, "Holy Wood." The website is pleased to not only update this issue but to answer some of those questions exclusively on Manson's page. "After months of negotiating with film companies," said the official site; "Marilyn Manson has come to a final decision. While several companies had expressed interest in making the film, Manson felt it most important to retain his artistic vision, not to modify it." The site continued, "In light of the unprecedented and controversial nature of "Holy Wood", Manson has taken the following steps to present his creation to you on his own terms."

"HOLY WOOD (IN THE SHADOW OF THE VALLEY OF DEATH)" will be the official title of the new album.

Not only is Manson recording a new album, he will also be publishing the book, "Holy Wood," shortly after the release of their fifth studio album in the Fall, "which he began writing in 1995 and was the inspiration for the screenplay and the new album," said the site. The site also explained, "This graphic and phantasmagoric novel will be the first piece of fiction to accompany a concept album." Following the release of his second book, they will also publish a fine art coffee-table book of images created for and inspired by both the album and the novel Holy Wood.

In regards to the look and feel of the new marilynmanson.net website, the novel's protagonist, Adam Kadmon, plays a crucial role in Manson's body of work." This character is inspired by the alchemical Adam Kadmon, who was thought to is an androgyny much like the one Manson portrayed on the cover of "MECHANICAL ANIMALS". Some have recently noticed that his last album was in fact an anagram: "Marilyn Manson is an alchemical man."

The new album is centered on Adam, who has experienced the subject matter of both "ANTICHRIST SUPERSTAR" and "MECHANICAL ANIMALS". This third and final piece of a musical trilogy is the backdrop to the story of "HOLY WOOD", which is thought to be the darkest and heaviest offering from Manson to date.

Manson states, "As you look for your own answers, you'll find Mercury, the number fifteen, Adam and even something as obscure as Fibonacci, all have relevance as "Holy Wood" unfolds before you. This is something I've been picking at for ten years and I hope it inspires you onto your own transformation."

Allstar News recently updated yesterday with an explanation about the whole Optigan. This is what they had to say:
For those of you playing at home, here's an explanation of what the hell he's talking about -- the Optigan is a type of optical organ, manufactured by Mattel in the early 1970s, while Fibonacci numbers are where you add the last two numbers to get the next one (0+1=1, 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=5, 3+5=8, 5+8=13 ...). An androgyne is a person living as both genders. And the number 15, as in minutes of fame. Regis Philbin even has a slightly demonic air about him, so it makes perfect sense. And that's our final answer.
By popular demand, Manson has added a FAN GALLERY where he can hand pick essays, art, and poetry from the BBS and feature it there. Also check out the updated MUSEUM section featuring Manson's art, essays and photos. As we mentioned at the start of this update, the website has been ramping itself for some time now in the sense and style of their next studio album, but while the official Manson site makes substantial changes and modifications, "it is by no means complete," says the page. "We will continue to make regular revisions and updates to the site on an ongoing basis."

AP Report Manson Label Deal Signed; Manson Searches For Label Name

According to Alternative Press magazine, (April, issue 141) the Marilyn Manson label, which we've been talking about for some time now, deal is done and Manson is searching for a name for the label.

Artists Become The New Record Executives
Marilyn Manson, Everclear's Art Alexakis and Oasis are a few of the high-profile artists who have added "label founder" to their list of accomplishments. At presstime, Marilyn Manson was finalizing the name of his new imprint with the L.A.-based label Priority................Both Manson and Everclear remain contracted to Nothing/Interscope and Capitol, respectively.
Also among this same issue, but in the "In The Studio" pages... AP magazine reports that Dave Sardy is working with the Manson camp in an undisclosed Los Angeles studio... hmm... "One report from the band's inner circle is that keyboardist Madonna Wayne Gacy (a.k.a. Pogo) is conducting Fibonacci experiments with synthesizers in the hopes of recording the sound of them exploding." Seems they have a good source on their hands, although they give Manson's album a tentative summer release, while Manson says Fall.

Thanks a lot to: crystal.

Manson's "Mechanical Animals" Voted 1 of the 10 Essential Glam Rock Albums In March AP Issue, AP Poll Ranks The Fragile 3rd Best

The March 2000 issue of Alternative Press is now hitting home across America and inside it is a new reader's poll, in which "The Fragile" appeared as #3. Here is the complete list:

01. Korn - Issues (Immortal)
02. Rage Against The Machine - The Battle Of Los Angeles (Epic)
03. Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile (Nothing/Interscope)
04. Limp Bizkit - Significant Other (Flip/Interscope)
05. Blink-182 - Enema Of The State (MCA)
06. Insane Clown Posse - Amazing Jeckel Brothers (Psychopathic/Island)
07. Beck - Midnite Vultures (DGC/Geffen)
08. Beastie Boys - Anthology: The Sounds Of Science (Grand Royal)
09. Foo Fighters - There Is Nothing Left To Lose (Roswell/RCA)
10. The Get Up Kids - Something To Write Home About (Vagrant)
Right below the poll, there is a quote in large lettering from a fan that says: "Without Trent Reznor, Manson wouldn't be the social parasite he is now." Next came the following, which is a letter from an Alternative Press reader, who said the comment above about Marilyn Manson.
TERRIBLE LIE
First off, let me say I really enjoy your magazine, but the Wiretapping section on Marilyn Manson really pissed me off. Marilyn Manson said [of the Nine Inch Nails song 'Starfuckers Inc.'] that 'its most redeeming quality is that it was the only song I was able to remember after listening to the album.' Does Manson forget where he came from? Or is he still trying to be a showoff, event hough people stopped listening a long time ago? Without Trent Reznor, Manson wouldn't be the social parasite he is now. If the song 'Starfuckers Inc.' is intened to be about Manson, which i don't think it is (but wish it was), he shouldnt take it. Basically he should worship the ground Reznor walks on.
Nell Eller
Via Internet
On page 19 of the March 2000 issue of Alternative Press, Marilyn Manson's "Mechanical Animals" was voted one of the "10 Essential Glam Rock Albums." The following passage appeared below an image of the album cover:
Marilyn hadn't heard Sigue Sigue Sputnik when he recorded this album, but he's since admitted that he should have. For what else is Mechanical Animals, if not the fulfilled promise of Sputnik's debut, mercilessly mashed throught he art of modern scapegoating? 'Dope Show', of couse, stamps so hard you can hear the size of young Brian's stacked heels, and though its promise-packed premise doesn't necessarily translate across the rest of the album, 'Coma White', and 'Last Day On Earth' paint an apocalypse even Bowie only toyed with.
