According to a source
that works in a recording studio in Hollywood, Mark
Romanek's feature film debut 'One Hour Photo,' starring
Robin Williams, is in the process of mixing and the
director, known for his amazing and award winning
music videos, is currently in search for someone to
score the soundtrack.
Needless to say, Mark
met with Trent Reznor two weeks ago while he was (or
still is) in Los Angeles presumably mastering the
forthcoming Nine Inch Nails Fragility live CD at the
Precision Mastering studios (See "Rumors
Circluate That Trent Reznor Is Currently Mastering
Material). Although it's unknown at the moment
if Trent Reznor accepted the project, I can confirm
that the film will be mixed at the Skywalker Ranch
in a week or two. "As far as a release," added my
source, "I don't know, and I don't think the contact
I know has one. I'm assuming they have a final cut
of the movie and that it has been "tested" with audiences
or otherwise they wouldn't take it to this step of
mixing it." More info should be available later this
weekend or possibly a short time there after...
Fox Searchlight's One
Hour Photo, which is described as "an urban psychological
thriller," centers on a young suburban family that
becomes the object of obsession for an employee (Williams)
of a one-hour photo lab.
Mark Romanek has won
several awards for his music videos, his best-known
efforts being for Beck, Fiona Apple, Nine Inch Nails,
and Madonna. Technically he is not, however, a newcomer
to feature films. Romanek previously directed and
co-wrote (with Keith Gordon) the little seen 1985
film Static, and had been attached to direct the unproduced
films Urban Townies (to have starred Brad Pitt), Paradise
Falls, and a bio pic of a 1960's photographer Diane
Arbus. With the arguable exceptions of Spike Jonze
and David Fincher (both of whom have collaborated
with very talented screenwriters and actors).
