Manson On MTV's 1515 "Man Is Violent"
If you haven't already checked out MTV this weekend, they have been airing an interview with Marilyn
Manson for the first time about the controversy surrounding the killings targeting Manson by the media, which
he discussed violence in the media--and in his own music.
Taking a stab at Biblical violence with a reference to the first Old
Testament murder, Manson justified freedom of expression in the arts.
He said, "Well, with all the religion that comes into it, I think people
should see the obvious idea that there was no TV, there were no books, there
was no music to inspire Cain killing Abel, and that kind of set the tone for
the rest of mankind. Man is violent by nature, and he doesn't need
inspiration for what he's going to do."
He continued: "I think that music and books and movies contain violence
because that's how people find a way to express it. For me, it's if I have
aggression, I'll put it into a song. I think that's a good thing, that's what
art is. Therefore, it's sad when people can't find that outlet."
You can catch the last of MTV's 1515 today at 11:00am and 8:00pm or you can download an
encoded real video of the program just of Marilyn
Manson here. (not yet encoded, later this evening.)
Tea Party Working With NIN?
An SLS Viewer named Steve Edwards recently went to a promotional show for the Tea Party last night
at The Rage in Vancouver, BC, which he and is friend stayed after to try and meet the band by waiting beside
their tour bus. "When they came out, " said Edwards "we spoke to Jeff Martin (Lead Singer) of the Tea Party.
He noticed I was wearing a Nine Inch Nails shirt," Edwards told SLS News. Which Martin said to Edwards, "So you're
wearing Trent's shirt huh? He still owes me money." Edwards asked him, "What for?" which Martin replied, "It's
nothing really. We've been working together recently." Edwards was then given an advanced copy of their new Tea Party single, "Heaven Coming Down".

Steve Marker from Garbage speaks on Manson and NIN
This was a recent transcript taken from Garbage's answers to fan mail. Most Nine Inch Nails
fans are aware of the partial Butch remix, but some may not be aware that they have met Marilyn Manson.
Butch did a NIN remix that partially ended up on a limited-release EP of theirs called
"Fixed". Duke helped him. We met Marilyn Manson in Florida, which was great, but we haven't
worked with him. We'd like to though- Mechanical Animals is really good. The Manson-Manson thing is too cute though.

Squarepusher Honored At Video Awards Ceremony
In the June issue of "Alternative Press" features an article about The Music Video Production
Association recently honored "Come On My Selector," a video from Warp/Nothing recording artist
SQUAREPUSHER, with three MVPA awards.
"Come On My Selector" beat clips from such overdone quantities as Smashing Pumpkins and Busta
Rhymes to win awards for Video of The Year, Best Alternative Video and Best Editing. Chris
Cunningham, who also lensed Madonna's "Frozen" video and Aphex Twin's freakish "Come To Daddy,"
brought the clip to fruition. The video is available as a CD-ROM extra on the Nothing version of
SQUAREPUSHER's mini-LP Big Loada. A new seven-track EP, Maximum Priest, is slated for release this summer.
Thanks a lot to: crystal.
