Manson On Extra!
Those who missed the showing of "Extra" today on ABC can watch it a
second time around midnight tonight. (Check local listings)
Manson is featured on there saying, "Lighter fluid is a bad idea to put in a
dressing room. You're just asking for trouble. I felt it was necessary to set
it on fire; like most dressing rooms should be." about the Saturday incident. I'll
have video and stills immediately following the showing.

Lots of Manson Updates
I can't give out any information about what happened recently with Manson's bodyguards. But things are in preparation
and Interscope is looking into this matter very carefully. This news story broke just hours ago and you will hear a lot more of this as the days progress.
Interscope tells me that Marilyn Manson is in the process of taping the Late Show w/ David Letterman.
It will air on Friday, as you all know. If anything interesting happens tonight after
the taping, I'll have the report here. Besides the fact he will talk about what really went on Saturday night.
I talked to Interscope about the interview I found earlier this morning of Manson
producing the soundtrack to "Jawbreaker" which he makes a quick cameo in by the way. They told me that Manson was offered to produce the
soundtrack, but declined because of is production with Mechanical Animals. I'm told he has contributed a few things. At this moment... I do
not know what they are...
And interesting article is featured in
Allstarmag.com's November 25th update... I'll let you do the reading...
Hole opening for Alanis Morissette? Say it ain't so, but
it just might be. Courtney Love, Melissa Auf de Maur, and Eric Erlandson paid a visit to KROQ's Kevin and Bean morning show in Los Angeles on
Wednesday (Nov. 25) when Love said the band is torn between the two tours they're up for: Morissette and Marilyn Manson.
While the latter would make much more sense musically, Love is a bit concerned that it's
not "Frances friendly," referring of course to her daughter, Frances Bean, and to Manson's notorious rock and roll ways. "We toured with them
once and they are a bad influence," said Love.

Manson Bodygaurds Spring Into Action
Not only is Manson causing problems, so is his bodyguard! It just so happens that the executive editor of Spin
magazine said Wednesday he was assaulted by bodyguards for Marilyn Manson
after the shock rocker threatened him.
Craig Marks [editor of Spin magazine] said he was invited backstage Monday night to talk with
Manson after he performed at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, November 23rd.
Manson said, "You know I can kill you, your family and everyone you know." Then following, Marks told Associative
Press
"Right after he said that, I was grabbed and shoved up against the wall
by my neck."
Manson's publicists -- Jenny Boddy in New York and Lorie Earl in Los Angeles
-- did not return telephone calls seeking
comment.
Marks, who was treated at a hospital for bruises, talked with detectives Wednesday about the incident and provided them
with a photo of the bodyguards taken at another event.
Marks said he did not know why Manson was angry at him or the magazine. Spin
has run several articles on Manson and has featured him on the cover alongwith excerpts from his book.
The alleged assault happened eight days after police say Blaze magazine editor
in chief Jesse Washington was beaten by four men in his New York office. Two
men, including a rap producer, have been arrested and charged in thatincident.
I've spoken to Interscope Records about this new problem at hand and I'll feature some new information hopefully soon.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so maybe Friday I'll have something to add.... This has been a very bad week for Manson... hopefully Friday, he can
clear things up.
Thanks a lot to: BMoss81573.
Better Late Than Never - NIN News
The new Alternative Press (AP) magazine features a large article in their January,
'99 issue, called "The 25 Most Anticipated Albums of 1999" and Nine Inch Nails is listed
(number coming soon) out of 25. AP had chance to get a hold of Trent Reznor recently
and Trent informs us about his "writers block" and how he believes that things are on a steady pace, thankfully!
Other news, the Alternative Press issue also features the "ninteynine" print ad that was first spotted in the November/ December issue of [men magazine]
GEAR featuring Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls on the cover.

NINE INCH NAILS
WORKING ALBUM TITLE: The Fragile
PROJECTED RELEASE DATE: Early 1999, on Nothing/Interscope
WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG?: According to Trent Reznor, the reason for
the delay is simple: He didn't know if he wanted to continue. "I had to
rediscover my passion for wanting to make music," he says. "A lot of the
other shit started to take the shine off it -- the celebrity aspect, the
constant competitive backbiting. I've seen that with close friends. For a
while it just didn't seem as appealing to get back in that arena. Not
from an 'I'm afraid to do it' point of view but more from an 'It's not as
fun as it used to be' [perspective]. But I think I've got my head turnedback around."
WHAT'S IT SOUND LIKE NOW?: The double album Reznor plans to release picks up thematically from
"Hurt", the sliver of optimism that closes 1994's "The Downward Spiral". According to Reznor, that song
was about a "sense of remorse and awakening, and looking back feeling that it's not all to blame on others---
growing up a little bit about things."
Musically, the maturation process included a lot of trial and error. "I
tried to write the new record from a different perspective, trying to
write things that are simpler --- maybe you could play it on a piano and sing it --- which I've never tried
to do. And I tried and failed...Everything started to sound like a Billy
Joel song and shit that made me want to kill myself and make sure all the tapes were well destroyed
before I offed myself," he says, laughing.
Instead of snuffing himself, Reznor worked at recapturing the "spirit of
reinvention" he felt while making "The Downward Spiral". Now that the spirit's moving him again, he's getting
back to what he does best: being different. "I don't think any artist wants to look at their own life or
career and think, 'Well, I really can only do this one thing good, so fuck it, I'll just do that.' I'm sure
people actually do that, but I don't want to think I'm one of those people. I aspire to be a David Bowie, some sort of enigma that isn't a
one-trick pony."
Those who have this issue and have a scanner, please submit the article so I can feature it as well...

Manson Joining Lollapalooza In Limbo
Sonicnet.com features a new article
about what the plans are for Lollapalooza '99. Sadly so far, things
aren't looking so hot for Lollapalooza. Bands such as Bush and Radiohead
have turned down the offer and maybe others will begin to do
just the same. Just as Allstar magazine reported
here on
November 23rd. Sonicnet features similar information that Ted Gardner [tour co-founder] explain
that ongoing discussions with Manson's management and tour agent are limbo.
Lollapalooza organizers had been in discussions with the high-profile,
multi-platinum shock rocker about playing the main stage on last summer's
aborted tour, a prospect the ghoulish Manson passed over to finish work on
his namesake band's recently released album, Mechanical Animals.

Manson Producing Jawbreaker Soundtrack
We all know that Marilyn Manson is to make a cameo appearance as a sleazy guy in a bar who picks up a girl
and takes her home, (thanks to Allstarmag.com) but are you aware
that Manson is to be producing the soundtrack? In fact Manson was
originally going to score the soundtrack as well! Apparently there
is an interview online here at the ebolamusic.com website that
features news on music for films, animation and multimedia. The interview
talks about a 23-year-old artist named Ego Plum who submitted a demo to
director Darren Stein of "Jawbreaker" about scoring the film for him and
Stein brought up Manson.
Mimi: Ooookay. So what's new with your film scoring work?
>
Transfer interrupted!
an independent film called "THE JOLLY MAN" which
so far is sounding very different from the music I wrote on Anthology of Infection, Vol. 1 - the score is more
orchestral and somewhat Twilight Zone-ish. Also, a few weeks back I met
with director Darren Stein about possibly scoring his film, JAWBREAKER (starring Rose McGowan). He was
worried about my ability to actually score his film when I admitted that I had not scored a "real" feature
before. Then he mentioned that MARILYN MANSON was producing the soundtrack and that Mr. Manson was originally going to score the film to
which I replied, "Oh, has Marilyn scored a feature before?" to which
Darren replied, "uh... no." he he. I am still waiting to hear what the production thought of my demos...
Mimi: Fascinating.
Plum: Yes, it is.
I'm working on getting some more information about this subject from Interscope. I hope
to have it by the end of the day. The movie is due to release late January or early February, reports Allstarmag.com.
Manson Gets Lucky - No Charges Filed
The big talk this week, well the past two days has been about the small camp fire that Manson started backstage in
his dressing room and the quick 4 room post party smash they threw at the
Sheraton hotel on November 21, '98. Finally, Sonicnet.com features a little more
news pertaining to this ever-so growing media event Marilyn Manson caused
last Saturday night. Such as information about what happened backstage
and the aftermath of what the police and fire department had to say pertaining to the subject.
No charges were filed because Forbes said it was difficult to determine who
in the band had set the shirt ablaze. He added that the guilty party or
parties, had they been fingered, likely would have faced either arson or
reckless endangerment charges. Forbes had no estimate on the amount of damage caused by the blaze.
You can read the full report here.
By the way, Marilyn Manson's "Mechanical Animals" recently broke the gold sales mark (500,000 units)
after two months in release, reports Sonicnet.com.
Again, make sure you tune in on Friday, November 27th. To watch Marilyn Manson
discuss the whole incident on the Late Show w/ David Letterman.
Random Notes
Expect Nine Inch Nails to definitely make a mark on MTV's Top
25 [Bands] of the Decade, which will be live to both coasts on Saturday,
November 28th, 3 pm. (ET) / 12 pm. (PT). MTV VJ, Jesse Camp, will host it. (Hey man, write me!)
Those who are interested, a large documentry of Manson's best interviews will be broadcasted on Much Music
tomorrow.
Marilyn Manson is having a "Spotlight" on November 26. It's a program on much music which will
highlight all of his best interviews and play all of his videos. It is
totally worth watching.
Thanks a lot to: Bizzare.
Nine Inch Nails' "wish" is playing on ESPN...
Yesterday while I was flipping through the channels, I heard Wish on
ESPN. I went back to the station and the video for Wish was playing.
It was on some show called "X-In Concert" (the show started at 3:30).
It had rollerbladers and stuff mixed in with the video, but it was pretty
cool. They were interviewing Sprung Monkey on the show.
Thanks to: jake and kevin.
