Nine Inch Nails' Awards

In a career that spans over 20 years, alternative rock and metal band Nine Inch Nails has released only eight albums, and yet those releases have earned NIN countless awards and over 30 million in record sales worldwide. Find out more about the band's best moments from 1989 to the present day.
Early success
Nine Inch Nails released its first album, "Pretty Hate Machine," in 1989. Despite the fact that the album was released on independent label TVT records, it climbed the charts and stayed there. It was in the Billboard Top 200 for 113 weeks and eventually went platinum.
Awards in the 1990s
Despite the band's nearly instant success, Nine Inch Nails released only three albums in the decade following its debut: "Broken," "The Downward Spiral" and "The Fragile." All three albums went multi-platinum, establishing NIN as one of the most popular (if not prolific) alternative bands ever. The track "Wish" off of Broken earned the band its first Grammy nomination and simultaneously its first Grammy award. Altogether, those three albums would garner the band a total of seven Grammy nominations and two Grammy wins through the 1990s.
Awards in the 2000s
Since 2000, Nine Inch Nails has only released four albums. Proving once again that they are about quality over quantity, all of those albums have also gone platinum. The 2000s albums have also earned five additional Grammy nominations.
Though Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor voluntarily put the band on hiatus, it has never officially disbanded, making it likely that this epic alternative collective has more albums and awards in its future.
